The gift of giving
30 Jan 2022
Hello beloved, it’s the last Sunday of the month of January in the year 2022, and oh I am so glad to bring to You another beautiful message from the kingdom. You see today we would be discussing the message of giving hence the title of this article. Not just giving money but giving time or other valuables for the kingdom of God word to move forward. Without wasting much time let go to the book of ..
Matthew 26
1. When Jesus had finished saying all these things , he said to his disciples, 2 “As you know, the Passover is two days away—and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”
3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas 4 and they schemed to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him. 5 “But not during the festival,” they said, “or there may be a riot among the people.”
6 While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of Simon the Leper, 7 a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.
8 When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. 9 “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.”
Sorry for the long quoting of the scripture, no I am not sorry 😂. I am just trying to bring out a point that was why I started from the first verse. You can see that Jesus knew he was going to be crucified soon so he was discussing with his disciples about this event. Fast forward to chapter 6 a woman in Bethany who perceived in her spirit the soon-death of Jesus came and anointed him with expensive perfume. Some disciple who couldn’t perceive the reason for what the woman of Bethany did said it was a waste. They didn’t understand that she was anointing Jesus for what is to come.. let me explain where I am going with this article.
Wasting for Jesus
The preacher in church today explained that the woman of Bethany sacrificed her salary for a year to get that expensive perfume( in actual fact it was more than that). Now imagine sacrificing such huge amount to anoint Jesus feet?. If someone of us were there we would frown at what she did calling it a “waste” but she never saw it as such and guess what .. she was rewarded .. in the same chapter ..
10 Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me 11 The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. 12 When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial
13 Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”
Imagine this, just for a service of few minutes are name and act would be remembered and celebrated throughout eternity. Wow just wow isn’t this a beautiful scene?
This just goes to tell us that we can never go wrong with giving. When we give we open up more doors to receive even more. It doesn’t matter what people say to you because of how you give just make sure you give with all your heart and out of love. The love of Christ as he gave his life to save us.
Also I would like to add that what makes us as believers receive from the kingdom of God is connectivity. Connectivity to Christ, his lifestyle, his teachings and thoughts, his family, his love and above all our connection to the father. When we give out of love we strengthen the bond of such connectivity as we all know, Jesus Christ is love and when we love we can freely and easily give without expecting anything in return, which in itself attracts God’s blessings.
Thank you so much for your time.. I hope you have been blessed by this message.. stay safe and God bless you.
