Β This article is all about work. I get to choose any Quote for Work and write my thoughts about it.

β€œThere’s a difference between INTEREST and COMMITMENT. When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results”

- Kenneth Blanchard

This much explains my read.cash journey. Read.cash is just an interest for me that is why it is up to me as to when I feel like writing and publishing an article. I usually do it during my most convenient time but I don’t consider it as work. It is a hobby. It might be a source of other income but more importantly it is a fun. I don’t have to commit to it that is why I refrain now from having $ goals as it removes the fun in it.

My office work is a different story. Here I have to commit to my tasks and to my staff. I have no choice but to provide end results or reports.

β€œEvery job is a self-portrait of the person who does it. Autograph your work with Excellence.”

 – Author: Unknown

Make your work a reflection of yourself. When you work with excellence, your peers will remember you even when you retired from your work. They will always refer on how well you do your job.

Leave your mark, a mark of generosity, a mark of honesty and a mark of excellence.

I remember one time, our company hired a Finance Manager. Maybe she didn’t like me so she hired somebody to be my manager. Do note that I was heading the accounting department for almost 20 years at that time with no problem with the management.Β  I humbly step back and let them lead. These two are relatively new and has no background in real estate. They made changes and some of the controls that I put in place where removed.

Even though it pains me, I stayed silent. I was at the brink of handing in my resignation but I stayed and observed.

I have staff who remains loyal to me and there are those who stick to the new manager, maybe thinking that they will have a better future with them.

Three years later, both of them had resigned. I think the management are not happy with them. You see, it is a company rule that if ever a managerial position resigns, he/she has to render for three months. This is to give time for our Human Resource to look for a replacement. But when they resigned, they were not asked to stay for three months but one month just like any staff who resigns.

I was reinstated back to my previous position. I am not the person who took revenge. I treat the staff who were not loyal to me just the same as those who were loyal but maybe they were ashamed of what they did because a month after they too had resigned.

I have to clean up the mess that they left behind.

This is a best example for the above quote but in a negative way.

β€œA dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hardwork.”

- Dr. T. P. Chia

I posted in Facebook last year, the day after my 24th year anniversary in the company.

I had plenty of well-wishers but one stuck to mind. He asked me for 3 key takeaways for such a long tenure.

My answer is HARDWORK, PERSEVERANCE AND PATIENCE! Add a bit of KINDNESS AND GENEROSITY.

It is true indeed that your dreams will not be a reality if you just kept on dreaming. You have to work hard to reach of dreams.

In my 25 years in the corporate world, I have some dreams that have come true. The most important dream was for my kids to finish their education.

β€œFind happiness in your work or you’ll never find happiness at all!”

– Norman’s Island

This has been my mantra ever since I start working. I found this quote in a newspaper and tore it off. I placed this in my cork board so that I can always see it every day at my office.

Five days of the week are spent working. There are even times that we have to work on weekends. Where can we find happiness in that?

That is why you have to find happiness in your daily grind at work.

Thanks for working with me.

Well said po. We have to find happiness in whatever work we have or else we would always end up complaining.

Yes I agree to you Ma'am Judith. In our work we need to be patience, determination, perseverance and hardwork. We must as good individual too to the others. Be an example to everybody. We will never achieve our dreams if we never have a sweats and struggles. Success came from it. God bless you maam Judith.πŸ™πŸ˜‡

Wahahahaha. Guily of patience. My patience has a limit. My longest stay in a company was 4 years. I got burned out and having a lot of unkind and rude guests pisses me off. I really do not believe in the saying that a customer is always right.

Anyway, I loved all the quotes that you have chosen. Natamaan ako ng slight sa iba. Hehe. πŸ˜…
