Optimism is not being naive

A lot of people get those two terms mixed all of the time, thinking that If you see the good in every situation you're incredibly blind to what other things are happening in the world, acting more like a fool than like a rational person. However, those individuals are no far better than someone who chooses to see life like that, as they'll carry the extra burden of being pessimistic and cynical about every inconvenient that happens to them. They can even try to undermine an optimistic person's opinion by saying that they are just thinking like little kids, using these statements more like tactics to make them seem as more mature or intelligent than they really are and at the same time feed their own ego and Insecurities, not knowing that inside them is still the same hell that they just perpetuated upon themselves with their attitude. That's why in this article I'll talk in detail about being optimistic about what happens to you in your life, even the bad, along with the many benefits It can bring to your existence in the day to day. Let's begin:

Why should I be optimistic?

I know there are a lot of reasons to feel discouraged as for the direction of the world in the actual world. Things like people doing a lot of negative things to themselves and others all to get attention, censoring of free speech and what we hear on the news daily as they're trying to get views through negativity. However, even If It sounds egotistical, why not focus on yourself and the good things that are happening for a minute? By being thankful about the present and looking at the good side of things, you will be much more content with your own life. However, I'm not saying that you shouldn't focus on fixing the bad things as these kinds of behavior enter more into the terrain of the delusional than of improvement.

All this said, being positive can actually bring a lot of benefits that are perceivable not only for yourself though in your direct environment, benefits of which I will mention some, being the most common and directly noticeable:

1.- Reducing Anxiety and Stress:

A healthy amount of stress is good for everyone, though If you let your worries take over you, you'll surely go mad in no time. The worst of all is that most of times these preocupations don't even come from things that are in our control, giving us moments of unnecesary suffering. If you decide to look at them in a more positive light, you'll find that actually there's no reason to worry in most of them, as the probabilities of them going that way are actually pretty reduced when compared with the more favourable outcome, instead making you feel more grateful for the opportunity to prove yourself.

2.- Being more Likeable to others.

Who you'll prefer to have as a friend? Someone who is all day complaining and thinking of what could wrong or someone who is grounded in reality though at the same time happy to be present and being able to do It? I know for sure that the latter would win over the first at every occasion, and that's who you become as you recognize even when things don't always go as planned, the good outweighs the bad and that every failure is an opportunity to learn. Alongside with this, by being positive in life you'll be happier and you'll attract much more people with a good attitude, so better make sure to be optimistic and thankful.

3.- More opportunities than before.

This doesn't mean that If you change your outlook of life in this right moment someone will knock at your door presenting you the opportunity you've been waiting for, though what I'm really trying to say is that by improving your attitude, you'll be more prone to take controlled risks instead of whining while trying to keep your security at all times, thus making you see chances where there were none before and making you more proactive towards a more successful outcome.

I hope that this article could have been of use to you, presenting you with many benefits and reasons as to why you should look at things from a more positive perspective, making you not only happier though at the same time a better person by just a little tweak in the way you see things. Thank you for your support and good luck!

I stop being optimistic but it is the right attitude. I go for realistic when it comes to decision and being optimistic is a hope that only stays with me for 5 secs. I only say a word like " I can do this" and it stays with me for 5 secs and then I move forward and adjust, as always

Being optimistically realistic is a great mindset and It goes with the point of being positive, not naive or delusional. You already know what variables aren't in your control and that the worst can happen, though also the fact that you can learn from any experience and seek for the best outcome. Thank you very much for your comment Grecy.

This is so true, but sometimes when you are too baffled with tough times you will be getting pessimist cause you know what reality is. Optimism is hard but when you know God and you have a faith in Him, every doubts within will soon fade and all you think is that everything you've been through had a purpose and all things are possible in Him.

That can also happen and It is normal to grief If the burden is overbearing, though with time you'll be able to look at things with more detachment and remember them as something that was necessary. I like that you pointed out that everything you go through has a purpose, as It sure does with God by your side. Amen and thank you for your beautiful comment.
