Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures
Nǐ hǎo, Kung Hei Fat Choi! Hello there, my fabulous and gorgeous read cash buddies! How was your day? Was your January a memorable one and full of fun? The month of January has finally ended, and now we’re in the second month of the year and it’s a month of love. A month when we feel the butterflies in our stomach when our crushes hand us a handwritten letter or a flower. (sanaol)
So, I was reading a book this morning titled "Whose Deduction Show" by a Filipino author, Akosiibarra, and it’s all about deductions, battle of wits, and mysteries, as the title suggests. I will be sharing with you guys what the story was all about, but not literally the whole story, only this part. The book's story consists of different cases that they need to solve, and what I will be sharing with you is this first case about abduction.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
People will do anything in their desperate times, even if it's against their will or even if they know that it's illegal, they will still go for it just to escape the situation that they’re in.
A student was desperately in need of the detectives' help to find his nephew, who has been missing since yesterday. They’ve been trying to find him, but up until now, there was still no lead on the boy. The detective went to the family’s house, and to their surprise, it was an enormous mansion, and it looked like an old mansion. They’ve been checking everywhere trying to find clues about the missing child. They searched every corner of the house. When they looked at the CCTV, they noticed that the kid wasn’t seen on the CCTV going out of the mansion on the day he was gone. None of the people in the house were seen going in and out of the mansion’s premises.
They have checked every corner of the house, but the only room that they haven’t checked was the office of the owner of the house. The office was filled with books everywhere that hadn’t been touched because of the dust that had been so visible. The detective then called out everyone in the room and said that the kid wasn’t abducted anywhere because he wasn’t seen on CCTV, and he also concluded that the person who abducted the child was one of the people in the room. In fact, he already knew where the child was kept. The man behind the kid’s disappearance may be smart, but he wasn’t clever enough.
When the detective said those words, the father of the missing child now started to wonder who would have thought of doing such a thing to his son. The only person who owned the office was the father’s sibling, who is also the uncle of the missing child. The detective asked why the maid didn’t clean the books since they were full of dust. The maid then said that their "sir" wouldn’t allow them to touch any of the books. The uncle explained the reason why he won’t allow anyone to touch the books; it’s because the books have sentimental value and he doesn’t want to ruin any of the books or even get scratched.
All of a sudden, the detective touched one book and pushed it over, then the secret room suddenly opened and there they saw the child lying unconscious with a tape on his mouth and both his hands and feet were tied. The father rushed towards his unconscious son and carried him out of the room.
The detective looked straight into the uncle’s eyes and then said that he was the only person who had access to the room except for the maids. As he stated, he does not allow anyone to touch the books, so the visible fingerprint in the book belonged to the uncle. His mouth was trembling, and his hands were shaking. He kept denying that he hadn’t done anything to his nephew. But then, later on, he admitted that he was the one who hid the child in the secret room. The reason for it is that he was loaded with a huge debt and had already sold the mansion. He didn’t have any other choice of where to find the money, so he did the unthinkable way.
It is sad to think that there are still people out there who are willing to cross the line. The most common reason would be debt, to the point that they are willing to do everything even if they know that it could cause them trouble.

Some people do crazy things because of money. It's a shame.
