A Thankful Day
Our family has been through a lot of challenges these past few months. These are challenges that really strengthen our trust and bond as a whole family and make us even stronger for each other.
There's no perfect family and there's no family in this world who hasn't faced challenges in their lives. We all have different struggles and obstacles each of our families has encountered. But you know, what makes a family bond stronger is the problems and challenges that they face and solve together as a family. You gotta trust each other with prayers because no matter what the problem is, it can easily be solved with the help of each other.
Yesterday we had a family gathering and a celebration for our cousin's first birthday. They live in Canada, but they wanted to have a celebration as well in the Philippines. It is a double celebration: being thankful that we overcame the challenges that we encountered and a birthday celebration for our cousin.
Our family is a religious family, especially our grandparents, who were so religious. It's been our family's tradition to always have a family gathering. Every time we overcome a new challenge in our family or receive a great blessing, our grandpa will always have a celebration in regards to that. It's like being thankful for the blessings we have and making the bond between us stronger than ever. So far, we haven't encountered problems in our family that involve siblings' fights and conflicts. Because, not to brag, our family is not like that. Whenever our aunt or uncle has a conflict, they will always try to fix it right away before it gets big because we don't want our grandparents to worry.
We all know that a typical Filipino family (not all) always has a family conflict, especially when it's about who will own the land and the other problems that involve money. But the most common conflict is over "who will own the land." The most common source of the issues for every Filipino family (not all).
So, yesterday we had a celebration and a family gathering for being thankful and for our cousin's first birthday. We celebrated how thankful we are for the blessings that we have received in our family. God always showers us with bountiful blessings. We are thankful that our grandma is getting better now. Even though she's still bedridden, at least she's here with us in the house and she can finally communicate with us slowly.
Our relatives came over and even our family who were living in the city. They really put time and effort to be able to come home and spend the day with the rest of the family. The house again was filled with people and it makes the house feel so alive. Even though our grandma couldn't name all of the people in the house even her own children, it shows in her eyes how happy she was seeing these people calling her.
I must say that I am one of the luckiest people; the luckiest daughter, granddaughter, and lucky cousin, since I come from a family that is always looking out for each other and helping each other to strengthen the family relationships through generations and to the following generations of this family. We are quite fortunate to have been nurtured by grandparents who are highly family-oriented. Even when there are minor disagreements, we always prioritize the well-being of the entire family. I am proud to express that I am extremely fortunate to be a member of this wonderful and loving family.
