Your miraculous body
Sometimes we forget how miraculous our body is. My child's favorite book made me think about the body. I think that from time to time, we should all remind ourselves of how important our body is and how it really deserves our great attention. Our body is made to be perfect. Every organ in the body has its own function. If we wanted to create a more perfect mechanism or system than the body, we would not succeed. That's why I say it's miraculous. It really is.
Why are we all so different?
There are more than seven billion people in the world, but there are no two people exactly the same. Although we are all different, we all have the same organs in us, that function the same. Itβs fascinating how weβre all so the same and yet so different.
We were all born the same and then we started to adopt our value system and form into unique personalities. We all have different characteristics, different occupations, different feelings and interests. But we all have the same responsibility for our body. Or at least we should have.
We are all masters of our body. We choose what we will eat, how we will exercise and what we will do every day. Our body is left to us, to take care of it and to preserve its perfection.
Where did we come from?
Although we think our origins are in different places, in fact we all come from the same place. From mother's womb.
Every baby begins to live in the mother's womb. At first it is quite small, like a pea. Then it grows for about 40 weeks, 9 months, until it is born. It's a magical process. Fascinatingly perfect.
Then we grow more and more and then we leave.
We leave our parents and make our own family. Our body stops growing at one point, but hair and nails grow forever.
How does our body function?
Inside our body is a skeleton, made up of all the bones.
Babies are born with 300 bones. Some later grow together, so that an adult has 206 bones. We also have more than 600 muscles in our body.
Some serve to digest food or circulate blood, while others allow us to move. Muscles are like rubber bands, they can stretch and gather again. Some muscles are attached to the bones. They pull and push bones, so we can move.
All parts of our body function together. The skin protects our body and protects all internal organs. That must be a difficult role. It allows us to feel the things we touch. The lungs allow us to inhale fresh air and exhale used air. Without blood, we would not get nutrients from the food we eat and oxygen from the air we breathe.
The brain controls everything, and the heart is a pump that works constantly. The stomach is a stretchy bag that stores food. It's all under our skin. Underneath that skin, every organ is doing its job.
And where does the food go?
Have you ever wondered how fascinating the journey of everything we eat and drink is?
From the mouth, through the stomach to the small and large intestines and finally to the toilet. It all ends with toilet. @TengoLoTodo I somehow got to the toilet again, inspired by my son's book. π
The brain as a highway
The brain is like a highway for information.
Like a car on a busy highway, messages between the brain and the body travel constantly. We should try to save our brain, because it protects us. Keep encouraging it to think. Messages go from the brain to the body to help us learn and do something new.
Why don't we feel good?
Our body is like a castle. It is built so that it can defend itself against attacks and defeat disease.
Viruses and bacteria are like tiny invaders. When they enter the castle, our body fights them, and we do not feel well. Our body creates special cells every day to fight viruses and bacteria. It is very powerful. But on the other hand, it is so fragile and easily destroyed. I've always had that in mind since I saw this castle. I hope you will too.
Final words
There is always something that we can do for our body. Every organ needs attention and care. What is essential for our healthy body are vitamins, regular hygiene, active life, good and sufficient sleep, healthy and proper nutrition, water, exercise, skin protection from the sun. What is also important is fun and good friends. The activities we enjoy help us feel good.
Our body is like a miraculous machine that keeps us alive and helps us do whatever we want. We can do something good for our body every day. Remember that we have only one body and that is ours for the rest of our lives.
