Unexpectedly different children's birthday

A few weeks ago, my five-year-old son was invited to a birthday party. I was not so happy about that because it meant that I would spend the weekend in the playroom waiting for the celebration to end. This is not a favorite weekend activity for parents, but for the sake of the children, we adapt and agree to sometimes spend our time in ways we don't want to.

The meeting place was a nearby cafe, but we had no idea that we would only meet there and that the celebration would be held somewhere else. It was a surprise for the children.

When we got together, we all went to the Banjicka forest. It is a place where for a moment you feel as if you have gone somewhere outside the city, but you are actually there, in Belgrade.

We were accompanied by two animators who made sure that the children had a great time performing creative activities. Children crossed obstacle course and jumped over obstacles in order to successfully reach the goal.

Everyone participated in making tents to protect themselves from the rain. Children love tents and houses, so they were very happy.

Then the animators glued cellophane from tree to tree and gave the children paints to create their artwork. I enjoyed watching them and I really liked this activity. My son drew a house that has eyes, a mouth, arms and legs. It doesn't make sense but it's unique. 😊

They took a break for a snack in the tent and then continued with their activities.

They played with a large colorful rug that they were lifting up, hid under it and threw balls over it.

There were many other interesting activities. Pushing a tire...

Carrying a ball on a spoon and trying not to fall... Carrying a sponge to a bucket with water and take to the other bucket to fill it with water as soon as possible...

At the end, they gathered branches to light a fire. They ran around the forest in search of branches. They tried to start a fire by rubbing one against another. It was fun. 😊

And then everyone got marshmallow cookies to warm them up and eat.

After the game, it was time for the cake, which was decorated with the favorite cartoon character of the birthday boy - Sonic the Hedgehog.

Although at the beginning I was not in the mood to attend the children's birthday party and spend part of the weekend that way, eventually that changed. It was an unexpectedly different children's birthday, full of creative activities in natural environment that made our weekend very fun.
