Back when we were kids, we have always wished to become adults right away because we thought adulting is cool that you can earn money, provide for your family and buy anything you want. We prayed so hard to God to transform us into adults already because we are excited about what's to come.
Guess what, it's not what we expected after all. It turns out to be so stressful and toxic that you have to deal with everything. Our lives are filled with frustrations because we know to ourselves that we did our best but everything doesn't go in our desired ways.
We are too busy to live and we tend to forget the major factors why we should enjoy our stay here on our planet.
Everything is temporary.
Your life is temporary, your family is temporary, your health is temporary, your body is temporary, your money is temporary, your title is temporary. Everything is temporary.
Then again, we should make everything the most out of it. That way, we can savor every bit of it as a chance to live better and be mindful of the great things that have happened in our lives.
This article is mostly applicable to the people who are in their early 20s or 30s where their career is at the most of the priorities. We get too busy to work that sometimes we forget how to live.
Your schedules are packed, no time for anything that is beyond schedule but when you dig deeper into its reasons, it doesn't make your life worth living.
Here's what we need to do to find ourselves our way back to living life to the fullest:
Prioritize your non-negotiables first.
You must know what your non-negotiables first. What are these? Prayer or meditation, spending time with family, exercise, and alone time.
Of course, working should be the top priority because it is where we get our sources to feed and sustain the needs of our family and I know this is a case-to-case basis. Not everyone is blessed with a stable job and has a healthy relationship with one another. So you work hard to achieve everything in any way you could think of.
Let's go back to the non-negotiables first.
Prayer or meditation.
Spending time to talk with God or just relaxing and being aware of your present self is gold! There's a sense of comfort that you can't find it anywhere. You know the exact source of it is through meditation and prayer.
When you do this, you shouldn't let your mind roam around and get busy thinking about other stuff. You need to focus and be aware of your breathing. It really helps to calm your minds.
Spending time with family or friends
This is something we usually lose especially in this generation. When smartphones were invented and are getting advanced day by day, we tend to forget and look around us because we are busy scrolling through our phones.
We lost socialization. I get that technology plays a huge role in reuniting and sustaining a relationship when in distance but what about with the people surrounding you in person?
We can't stop the time and do what we need to do. We can't go back in time and do the things we should have done. All we can do is stay in the present, make good memories so that in the future, we can always go back to the memories we built in the past.
Exercise or alone time.
When everything seems to be so chaotic and busy, sometimes we forget ourselves and we failed to take care of our well-being. We need to help our bodies reach their maximum potential so that we can make everything possible. At least for yourself.
Exercise is a good habit of releasing toxins in our bodies. It helps us to de-stress, calm our minds, and to induce positivity in our souls. It is therapeutic and I believe fitness enthusiasts will agree.
I hope that every one of us will commit to doing everything mentioned. It takes a lot of will but at the end of the day, it is still a decision.
Thanks for reading.
Keep safe everyone! ā¤
I agree with you back then I wish to be an adult too because I want to work to help my Mom. I want to earn money. Now, after years of working I sometimes told my self " sarap maging bata ulit"
