Most people thought that they are eating their foods in the right way, especially healthy and nutritious food. However, they are eating some major foods in the wrong way, at the wrong time, and they are not aware of it. Even the healthiest and most nutritious food can be harmful if not prepared well or we might lose the nutritious value of healthy food if it is not consumed properly. Thus, we should be aware of the proper way of eating and preparing foods so we can obtain the maximum nutritious value from them.

Here are some common foods that consumed in the wrong way:

FRUITS

Fruits like bananas and apples are commonly consumed in the wrong way. Most people usually peel off the apple before eating and that is wrong. We should eat an apple with the peel on because it contains fiber and other nutrients. On the other hand, banana should be paired with some kind of nut butter like peanut or almond, because the fat helps to control the sugar level in the banana.

The best time to eat fruits is on an empty stomach, like in the morning after drinking a glass of water or between a meal and a fruit snack. In that way, you can fully obtain their maximum nutritious value. Most people often prepare fruits for each meal and eat them right after a meal, which is the worst way of eating them. The fruit may not be digested well and the nutrients may not be absorbed properly.

NUTS

When we eat nuts as they are, we do not get their maximum nutritious value. They must be soaked before eating and should dry before consumption to help your body absorb the nutrients in the right way.


Most people also eating food at the wrong hour. They complained that whatever healthy foods they eat, they still unable to lose or gain weight, or make their health better. That is because most of the time, they are eating healthy food at the wrong time. Every healthy food has a certain time to work in our body. Thus, we should know the right time to consume these foods.

MILK

This is a common food that is often consumed at the wrong time. Parents usually give milk to their kids every morning and many adults also take milk for breakfast. However, it is heavy to digest and will only make you lethargic. The best time to drink milk is at night an hour before bedtime. Milk contains health and beauty benefits that you can only achieve when consumed properly. It also contains sedative properties that will help you calm down and its serotonin content will help inducing good and sound sleep.

BANANA

This fruit contains a lot of antioxidants which help to get rid of the free radicals in our body. Eating a banana every morning will help you stay energetic for the entire day. But, if it is consumed at night time, you might suffer from cold, cough, and flu very easily. Banana is also the best fruit to gain weight.

GREEN TEA

Green tea is richer with antioxidants and has uncountable health benefits. It can be taken anytime after eating a meal. However, if you drink it on an empty stomach, it can create acidity and other digestive problems.

COFFEE

Coffee is also packed with antioxidants and helps you to get energy and reduces fatigue. You can drink it anytime but not at night. You may suffer from insomnia if you become addicted to drinking coffee at night. Drinking coffee on an empty stomach can also cause acidity and even palpitations.

RICE

Rice is full of starch. That is why it is recommended to eat anytime at day but not at night time. Eating rice for dinner is unhealthy and makes you obese gradually and other health issues can be raised by eating rice at dinner.

Some food combinations are also paired wrong and that causes digestive problems. These includes:

Milk and Banana

Most people usually consume a banana shake with milk which is a big 'NO' as this combination is very heavy to eat together. They are difficult to digest and even slows down the brain functioning process. They both belong to opposite food quality - one has heated the ability and the other has cooling quality. Moreover, when bananas break down, they turned to sour and become toxic when sour gets mixed with milk. This eventually leads to health issues like cough, cold, allergies, and some digestive problems.

Yogurt and Fruits

I wonder why yogurts have fruit flavors, it seems so healthy but actually NOT. Research shows that combining sour and dairy products often cause blunder. It may cause the production of toxins in the body and makes digestion difficult. Mixing these food products can also lead to the disappearance of digestive fire (strength and volume of stomach acid, digestive enzymes, and bile in the GI tract) Thus, it may cause cold, cough, skin allergies, etc.

Burger and Fries

We often eat this combo at our favorite fast foods or snack bars which is a complete disaster. Both have trans fat that will make you lazy and tired which eventually makes you like a couch potato. Fried foods are unhealthy and can cause a rise in cholesterol and sugar levels which leads to gain more weight and boosted appetite.

Cheese and Beans

Both are protein-rich dairy products that are heavy to digest. They can cause stomach bloating and flatulence and can impair the digestive process. They are both from opposite food quality - cheese is heating in nature while beans can be either heating or cooling. Therefore, they confuse the digestive system. And if they reach the colon by mistake, the process of urination, perspiration, and fecal movement may slow down and get infected.

Lastly,

Pizza and Soda

This is everyone’s favorite but both are acidic. Pizza contains carbohydrates and high protein, but it consumes most of the body's energy during the digestion process. Drinking soda on the other hand also slows down the process of digestion that eventually causes digestive problems. 

We, People, are food lovers. We eat what we want, we cook what we want, we even experiment with cooking foods using different ingredients and food combinations. But in most cases, we are unaware that the healthy foods we are preparing turned unhealthy, and that the food combination we love is toxic. We have almost become ignorant of the side effects the unhealthy food combinations do on our bodies. 

Eating the right choice of food makes our body healthy and well-nourished. To live healthily is to eat healthily. And to achieve a healthy life, we must take consideration of the foods we eat and the way we eat them.

Base on my experience eating apple before dinner triggered my acidity. I do it after work out to maintain my weight, so I stop eating apple even in the morning to avoid hyper acidity. Am on your side that milk must be taken before bedtime because in the morning it still triggers my acidity. Banana and milk is a myth that taken together will induce sleep and it is just now that I know that it is a bad combination. You have an iformative and helpful article. Thanks.

I don't know that apple is acidic 😅 i prefer rating it in the morning as it is hard to digest if you eat it at night, you will feel full before sleeping

Rice, Coffee, burger, fries, pizza and coke are life. haha. . Di ko masyado sa fruits. When I got home and WFH I sometimes drink coffee at night. haha. Feeling ko nga minsan wala ng epekto kasi nakakatulog din ako agad kaya lang may time din na ngpapalpitate ako.haha.

Whenever the hunger strikes, I should eat the food that I want. Whatever you mentioned above about its harmful effects eating food at wrong time won't affect me when actual hunger strikes. It's really hard to follow the rule to eat the food at right time.

Ehhhh, yong apple kinakain ko talaga ng may balat yan, kasi nga nandyan daw talaga ang sustansya nya. Pero bago un, hugas ng maigi muna minsan nga hinihugassn ko na may asin haha, awan lang kung effective ang asin. Saka yun milk, so mali talaga ginagawa namin. Every morning kasi namin nidrink yan, tapos pag minsan sina mader with saging din. Kaya sila minsan sinasakitan nh sikmura ee. Burger and fries, mejo di ako mahilig sa fries pero burger, yan heaven yan Saka pizza, pero di ako mahilig sa soft frink, minsan C2 katambal, kaso minsan lang talaga, kalimitan kong pina partner jan is tubig lang.

Ehhhh, di lang acidity magiging ano non pag nag ininum ng soda ata ano, buti natigil mo. Si mama, ganyan din di mapigil mag sora lalo na pag kakain, pero ngayon hanggang zesto or tubig nalang sya. Wala na kwarta ee haha.

I eat banana during meal.. And most of the time, I eat at least 2 per meal.. I love banana so much coz it's my ultimate favorite.. As for the green tea, yeah, it's acidic when consumed on an empty stomach.. I used to drink green tea before work on an empty stomach, so every time I go to work, I feel puking every morning. 😅 As for the coffee, I drink it every night to keep me alive and focus my work.

Other foods you've mentioned like pizza and coke, or burger and fries, well, they are hard to resist. I think it's okay to eat them once in a while. Lucky me, I live in a place where fast foods are not accessible.

I think there is also limitation in eating banana.. Especially if you eat it after meal. Carb na ang rice, carb dn ang saging...sakn tlga sa umaga before kainin ang breakfast..

Work ako usually start ko mga 7 or 8.. Tas pag sinipag, meaning ko extra curricular activities other than work, mga 1-2 am ako matatapos.. Pero pag tinamad dahil puro on and off yung time, minsan aabutin ako mga 4-5 am.. Hehehe..

And yes, need ko na talaga mag seryoso sa eating habit ko.. Taba taba ko na tapos malapit na pasko.. 😂😂😅

I like to eat a lot of rice n chocolates n fast food before but now, i'm not anymore, only sometimes but mostly on lunch, though i drink milk n eat banana, also like cheese but since i got no work anymore, mdyo ngtitipid ngaun, lol, just buying important n needed in the house not what i want anymore but hopefully soon, if i get my work back or got lucky, might to it again, lol

What?? My entire life on food have been wrong, I actually have been doing the opposite habbit towards food based on your list. I never soak nuts before eating, I taught it was a normal norm to take milk at morning, never knew the benefit of eating banana at the morning hours and much more... My life has been filled with misery 😂😂😂😂 I have never done anything right based on your list but from now on I will put that into consideration. Thanks.

The thing with why we eat is wring is mostly because of the packaging myths and all. Like example, for apple and a couple of otger fruits and veggies we peel. We peel them because of the paraffin wax used to coat them to make them look fresh
