Phantoms

The smile on your face

They hide all your pain

And your achievements

They cover the stain

The phantoms of your past

That stay behind your back

Even with all your friends

No one knows you're stuck

Behind the bright lights

Behind all your fame

What stays everyday

Is only your pain

Because phantoms they stay

When the lights fade away

So you fight day by day

Just for reasons to stay

Thank you for summoning me here @wakeupkitty. This poem really struck my heart. In a good way. It is something that I felt deep inside of me.

I am stuck in myself without no where to go until I find freedom in my own self.

The only difference would be is that I do not have any achievement yet.

This is the reality for many of us. Phantoms stay, they linger, sometimes they creep in without us knowing and by the time we realize them, they have made a home for themselves and they are hard to get rid of. Thank you for this poem. It struck a chord for many of us.

We all have a part of our memories that we want to stay hidden so we cover them up with the good things that we have in life but it will always be there. Thanks for reading and the upvotes. There's not that many people who read my work. I'm happy that some appreciate my work.

Hey, don't worry about it. I don't have many who read and comment on my articles either but I am glad that those who did (or most of them), are genuine and real, like @wakeupkitty and @heartbeat1515. I very much prefer quality over quantity :)

I read you because you are good and... (Yes, there's an "and") because the " good old English" is a relief to read and it relaxes me. 😁🍀👍💕

Aawww.. thank you @wakeupkitty <3 <3 <3. I am truly humbled by your comment especially with memories still fresh from my childhood days of the teacher who could not understand a word I said.

That teacher regrets every word she said if she had heard what she said which she didn't because she was too busy with her nails.

And yes, I can relate to that covering up. Sometimes it hurts so much inside but you just don't want people to ask you about it and you put on a face. But when you are alone, all you do is think about it and cry sometimes.

But even so, you'll still get the courage to get back up again regardless of the pain. I think that's enough, already amazing enough to deserve applause.

So do you. You are here, you write, you use the pain in a creative way. People will read it. Read, comment on others so they can find you.

Thanks for bringing me here. I had already noticed him/her when he/she won Winona's contest.

I think it's very good, and this one clearly has some good ideas and has no issue expressing them beautifully.

Thanks for the compliment sir. I don't really have a wide vocabulary but I make do with what I have

Keep it simple. A wide vocabulary can scare away many, especially if it comes to poetry. It's not about the wide vocabulary but how the words are used. You can reach out to everyone who can read with what you write. 🍀

I hope so too. Someday, maybe some will. But I'm fine with what I have for now. I really appreciate your support for my work.

I can only ask the good, interesting writers I meet and I hope they know some people too and together we can guarantee some good articles to read. 🍀💕

Thank you for reading and commenting. It's hard to read something good, find the good writers. No matter what I hope we can at least read and comment who deserves to be read. 💕👍

Thank you for inviting us here. Very true. And genuine ones too. There are some whom I wonder if their articles were truly written by them because the way they wrote their replies to comments do not jive with the way the articles were written, you know what I mean?
