Cell phone conversation
Police: Dalia?
Dalia: Yes, who is speaking to me?
Police: It's from the police. We need you to get home as soon as possible. We have an urgent situation here at your home.
Dalia: I'm at the gym, it's close. I´ll be there in a short time.
When Dalia arrives at her home, she finds police patrols in front, an ambulance, and the house completely surrounded by agents. Then the following happens:
If they saw in the video one of the agents informs her that a few minutes ago the neighbors heard disturbances and shots inside the house and that her husband had been murdered.
Dalia burst into tears and entered a state of nerves. She wanted to see her husband, which they didn't let her do because it could contaminate the crime scene.
She was immediately taken to the police station to make a statement. At first, she was crying, but as the minutes went by, she stopped crying and calmed down. The clearest questions were if she knew of someone who wanted to harm her husband or had recently threatened him.
At minute 13 of the interrogation video, the policeman passes a man and tells him that this man was the one the neighbors saw running out of his house that morning. So when the man walks out, that's when the unthinkable happens and the cop tells him that she's going to jail today for the attempted murder of her husband Mike Dippolito. That the police had everything recorded and that her husband was in perfect health.
She was shocked and kept repeating that she hadn't done anything.
Mike and Dalia's relationship had begun a few months ago when they met because she was an escort and even though he was married at the time, he had requested an escort for a free weekend. They fell in love instantly and continued to see each other afterward. Mike was in pretrial detention, for a few years, as he had scammed several people out of a lot of money. Despite this, they both liked the good life and spent money on luxury things. After Mike got divorced, they got married one day unannounced, without inviting anyone, just like that, just the two of them in church. At the time that everything happens, they had only been married for 6 months.
The police inform Dalia that everything was being recorded previously, for days, for a television program called Cops. This program shows real cases of how the police work in this type of investigation.
It turns out that Dalia's ex-boyfriend, with whom she still had occasional relationships, went straight to the police to tell them that Dalia had told him to find a hitman to kill her husband. She wanted to keep all her money and the house. The ex-boyfriend knew that if this was carried out, the first suspect would be him, due to the text messages between the two. They would have thought it was jealousy or something similar. In this way, the entire machinery of the television program began to follow Dalia.
Even Dalia met with an undercover policeman, who was posing as a hitman, and told him that she was 5000% sure, that she wanted her husband dead. Difficult to find so much cold blood in one person.
So, that's when Dalia along with her lawyers say that all this was planned from the beginning by the 3 of them: Dalia, her husband Mike, and her ex-boyfriend. They wanted to become famous on the internet and by uploading everything to YouTube or some other platform, but they didn't want to kill anyone. Obviously, it is hard to believe at this point, even more so when Mike himself and her ex-boyfriend say that none of this is true.
Imagine that the police knock on the door of your house one day in the morning and with television cameras included, telling you that your wife wants you dead and explaining everything.
Dalia was sentenced to prison and despite changing her defense several times and her arguments in two trials, including lashing out at the police themselves and the media show mounted around her, she was sentenced to 16 years in prison for the attempted murder of her husband Mike .
What do you think about this whole case?
At least she got sentenced. She literally hired an undercover cop as a hitman. She couldn't possibly get out of this.
