Battle of titans - ETH vs BTC fees
Are you happy with the gas fees on Ethereum network? Maybe you are, if you are an Ethereum miner.
If you are curious to find out, in the last month Ethereum miners earned at least 600% more than the ones mining Bitcoin, and this happened while ETH is 350-375$, and BTC is worth 10500-11300$. Just how crazy is all this situation? ETH fees were trailing BTC ones until the middle of June, when Compound launched its token. After that DEFI unleashed all its fury, and ETH gas fees outpaced the ones on Bitcoin.
On October 1, the first ETH testnet launched, Spadina, failed due to “critical peering issues,” as we find out from Danny Ryan. The same issue like in the previous month, stakers picking Prysm over the four other available Eth 2.0 clients was also the issue behing the crash during August’s Medalla testnet. https://www.coindesk.com/spadina-ethereum-2-0-testnet
Before Ethereum 2.0 goes live, the project team said that a new contract will be created on the current Ethereum blockchain to receive deposits of 32 ETH. Only once this contract accumulates a minimum of 524,288 ETH, which is worth roughly $181 million at time of writing, only then will the new Ethereum blockchain officially kick-start at midnight UTC the following day.
Until then, the second testnet, named Zinken, will launch Oct. 12 at 12:00 UTC. Not much is expected from this move, but they are just looking for alternatives, just in case. Personally, i think there will be some bumps during this transition towards ETH 2.0, especially because this contract transforming ETH into ETH 2.0 is some kind of burn, once the funds are locked.
We can only hope that everything will be sorted out eventually, and everything will start to grow even further.

Kucoin hackers arested
Looking through the hourglass, i noticed this on twitter today:
So, after all the evidence was handed to the authorities, the problem was apparently solved, with more than $64 million of stolen assets being recovered from hir/her address. The only incongruence is that the total recovered now is up to 204 millions, and the 150 millions initially stolen are now 281 millions. When asked, they say that the 150 millions were the Ethereum based cryptocurrencies, with some other like Bitcoin, Tron tokens, Stellar tokens and XRP making them to increase to 281 millions. 7.5 millions were exchanged on Kiber Network and Uniswap, and they will not be probably recovered.
What is amazing, despite Kucoin secretive approach to this, is the big number of benevolent actors involved in tracking, blocking and reissuing the funds stolen by the hack. It is the first time when the crypto-market has such a coherent and unified response.

What will happen after BitMEX?
As BitMEX, the Seychelles-based crypto exchange, faces a series of civil and criminal charges from U.S. regulatory authorities, more than 41.000 BTC were withdrawn from BitMEX, and further data shows that most of if went to its competitors, Binance, Gemini and Kraken. Just yesterday 11,257 BTC moved from BitMEX: 4,786 BTC went to Binance, 3,899 to Gemini and 989 to Kraken, according to data provided by CryptoQuant. This will make me think that the traders are feeling safer with exchanges that closely follow the latest regulations. Not a bad field day for our latest mentioned exchanges, and this made it happen because Gemini has very strict KYC procedures, and Kraken is the first cryptocurrency firm ever in the U.S. to become a bank, after its application for a special purpose depository institution (SPDI) charter was approved by regulators on the Wyoming Banking Board.
One of the charges brought by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) against BitMEX is their failure to implement proper KYC rules. Now, one of the winners in relation with this issue is Binance, whom was just ranked #1 crypto exchange in 24-hour bitcoin futures trading volume, surpassing a falling BitMEX.

30.09.2020 - Another day into Cryptoverse
I presume everybody knows by now that Kucoin exchange, the 4th biggest exchange, was hacked due to human error (attacker got the private keys of one of their hot wallet, how this happen, i wonder!). The good news are that, out of 150 millions, almost $130 million worth of ERC-20 tokens were frozen or invalidated by the small project teams behind them after the hacker managed to steal them from KuCoin, fearing a pump and dump event.
DEFI protocols needed two years and a half to reach the first billion locked into the projects, but less than one year to reach 10 billions. Next step. 100 billions, in less than a year? Moon anything? Uniswap alone just reached 2 billions in locked funds. Talking about insane numbers, latest DEFI project, Avalanche, just launched last Monday and already has 1 billion dollars. I just start to learn how to do a DEFI coin, really!

Kucoin Exchange hacking incident - step by step
There is everywhere in the news, Kucoin was hacked, but this hacking seems to be the work of an amateur. Nevertheless, amateur or not, 150 millions dollars were moved out of the exchange hot wallets on September 26, 2020 at 03:05:37 (UTC+8). What is more interesting is what happened after, as Bitfinex froze USDT on EOS network, and Tether froze $20 million USDT on Ethereum network, funds believed to be linked to the hack.
The official word from Kucoin Exchange was the following:
I**f any user fund is affected by this incident, it will be covered completely by Kucoin and our insurance fund.**
More than 11,480 ether (ETH), worth over $4 million, was received into this address. Other cryptocurrencies such as Ampleforth, Maker, OMG and YFI, all DEFI tokens, evaluated at $146 million were taken, along with some emerging tokens like Chroma, Vid and Ocean. The users observed the funds being withdrawn long before Kucoin staff, and some even alerted them that a big amount of funds are moved from Kucoin to what seems to be and external wallet, all thanks to Whale Alert service. https://t.co/GYmESH44da
The USDT frozen is close to 22% of the funds stolen two days ago, and the single point of failure was of human origin ( private passwords to the hot wallet were somehow leaked via social engineering).
Then, some called the hacker amateur because he tried to exchange some of the crypto without using a mixer like any DEFI pool. Funny enough, the hacker seems to follow the discussion, as he start right after to use Uniswap to dump some ERC20 tokens, including Ocean. Selling in batches on 10.000, he managed to dump the price with almost 10%, until Ocean Protocol team froze the token contract.

I will continue to follow this event closely and tell you if something interesting will happen. Anyway, never until now the public and other crypto projects were not involved to this degree in order to solve a negative event much quicker, and the public response was awesome, with addresses and wallets and cryptocurrency movements closely followed by many companies and investigators. A swift response can be only beneficial and maybe even detter future attack, if they will know that everything will be frozen quickly after the hack. The only bad actor was Uniswap, letting the hacker to sell tokens for hours. Hopefully they will investigate the issue and act accordingly.

European Union has big plans to regulate cryptocurrency
I am writing less lately, as i started my full time job, once again, and i am only free in weekends at the moment. Some days I am working from 8 to 20, so i cannot wait to come home and sleep one extra hour if possible, instead of staying online.
Stablecoin issuers and exchanges operating on the European Union territory are promised legal clarity and one ''ambitious project'' related to the cryptocurrency regulation, so that any fintech company obtaining the rights to operate in one country that is member of E.U. will automatically given the rights to operate in the other 26 country members of European Union. This is very good for the expansion of the crypto-market, but then another thing catched my attention, and i quote:
**“At the same time, the proposal imposes more stringent requirements on ‘stablecoins’, which are more likely to grow quickly in scale and possibly result in higher levels of risk to investors, counterparties and the financial system.”**
Funny enough, this started with them researching for the Facebook's Libra project, and needs to be enforced for any stablecoin with a total market capitalization of over $5.8 millions, as projects passing the threshold will need to be authorized by a “national competent authority” before they can operate in that specific country. This is good for any stablecoin at the moment except Tether.
While Europe is aware of the emerging cryptocurrency market, it will probably take years until this project is finished. Until then, there are few precautions and measures issued in order to facilitate the way of mass adoption. Any companies issuing crypto assets worth more than $1.7 million in a 12-month period will be obliged to publish a white paper with mandatory disclosure requirements. Again, this is good and will protect the ones doing their own research to avoid all kind of future DEFI Ponzi schemes.
European Comission main goal is to protect consumers and investors, they stated, and it will be interesting to see what will happen next.

19.09.2020 - Another day into Cryptoverse
India is reportedly planning on introducing a new law to ban cryptocurrency trading in the country, a move that would be a blow to the rapidly growing cryptocurrency scene in the country, while encouraging all the blockchain applications. The Central Bank of India banned crypto in 2018 at the height of the ICO scams, and the Indian cryptocurrency exchanged sued and won their lawsuit earlier this year. This led to a 450% surge in trading in India. The rise of trading volumes, per Bloomberg, raised concerns Indians were risking their savings amid the coronavirus-induced economic slowdown.
Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Fisco has sued the leading crypto exchange Binance for what they call facilitating the laundering of $9 million in bitcoin. The laundered funds came from the $60 million hack that cryptocurrency exchange Zaif suffered in 2018. Zaif was later on acquired by Fisco, which compensated users who lost crypto after the hack. The strategy used was quite surprising as the hackers used Binance’s KYC policy, which lets new users trade up to 2 BTC without having to provide any meaningful identifying information, to launder the funds.

Yam Finance v3 is ready to be released on September 18. Liquidity incentives will go live for the YAM/yUSD pairing on September 19, with the first rebase set to occur two days later. The DeFi protocol has been audited by Peckshield, a blockchain security firm. If you remember from the last month incident, Yam Finance came to a premature end due to a smart contract bug, the developers then created an interim Yam Finance v2 (YAMV2) as the final and fixed v3 code goes through auditing.
Helium and Digibyte increased lately, and i must admit that i looked first at Helium as being some sorts of a scam, as they were selling their mining devices for a lot of money, with not enough profit (unless you live in a highly populated area like capital or big city). I still do not know why Digibyte is increasing, maybe you can tell me!

The Boy who cried Wolf - The new updated Coinbase Terms of service
I was just mentioning all the waves made by Coinbase CEO online, on Twiter, complaining about Apple being unfair to their App. But then, what we have here? From 15th of November, Coinbase will have a new shiny Terms of Service. Do you like to read the small print? I do. Let's see what changes it will bring.
In November 2020 you may need to accept the new User Agreement, and after that you may need to verify and update all your identity and account information. If you need to provide new data regarding your identity or account information, then you will need to follow the instructions received from Coinbase.com or/and Coinbase Pro. You have 30 days, and if Coinbase cannot verify your identity, your acces to Coinbase will be restricted, and your accound will be deactivated.
Why they collect all the new data? First, to comply with anti-money laundering laws, as it is mandatory in most of the countries. Second, to verify your identity and protect you from potential fraudulent activity (at least this is what they say). I think Crypto.com or Binance card may be a good replacement for Coinbase services, but i did not research this possibility yet. At least they say that they will never provide our data to third parties without our consent. Funny, this is exactly what the new GDPR law is stating, long before they said that (May 2019).
Once you go into your account in November, you need to accept the new user agreement in order to acces your account. Once accepted, if you do not update your identity data required, you have only 30 days until your account is deactivated. If this is against your beliefs, you have until November to remove all your crypto from Coinbase. You can also close the account from the activity page.
The new user agreement is (only) 31 pages, and i will treat the EU version in this post (as i am a resident here). First, they warn you that Coinbase Europe is not a regulated financial service provider, it is not registered or regulated by any bank, competition services or protection comission, and there are no investor or protection schemes associated with the account (at this point i think, plus points for Blockfi and Celsius).
Second, you are fully responsible for any change or permission granted to any third party to your Coinbase account.
Third, you may need to provide proof about your name, residential address, phone number, email address, date of birth, taxpayer identification, government identification number, bank details (name of the bank, account type, routing number and account number), network status, customer type and role, billing type, mobiler device identifiers and, if needed, details about yourself and your bussiness, relevant records and even meetings face to face to establish the source of your wealth and source of funds for the transactions carried on their up. Not much for privacy, isn't it?
Forth, any bank related instruction made after 4.30 PM is treated as it was received the following day.
If you have an unauthorised transaction made from your account, you need to contact Coinbase no later than the next 13 months.
This is a good one, if you opened a Coinbase account, you gave explicit consent to them in relation with your E-money (read crypto). If you chose to withdraw consent, you need to close the account.
The Buy price exchange it is not the same with the Sell price exchange, as they will ad a margin, and the additional fees, and you accepted that when you authorized the transaction.
The can change the network fees (miner fees and they will calculate them at their discretion, but they will notify you about them before authorizing the transaction. So, always check your fees before doing a transaction.
They can end any cryptocurrency support when they want, providing they give you 10 day notice, unless the law requires to do it faster.
They can suspend, terminate or cancel your account if they believe they need to protect their reputation, if it is required by law, if they suspect you of breach of this current agreement or breach of their 'behaviour policy', if they suspect you are doing money laundering or fraud or any other crime, or if you have multiple accounts. You may have a two months notice, in the best case.
Another good one: they provide no guarantees that the service provided will be continuous, uninterrupted, timely or error free. And with this they can tell people to stop complaining when, by coincidence, the app is down if Bitcoin suddenly goes up or down by 20%. They strive for excelence, but cannot quarantee that the service is available without interruption during times of significant volatility or volume, for safety issues.
If you are from a Sanctioned country (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan or Syria etc) you can say bye bye to Coinbase access. If you travel to one of these countries and use your wallet in there, your account may be closed.
If you do not login for 7 years, the cryptocurrency from your account may become unclaimed property, and you will pay a dormancy fee.
If the account holder dies, the account will be frozen until your designated trustee open a new account and all the funds are transferred. This is the only way to inherit the money, and you need to provide a will or a similar document.
They can close your account also if you violate the law, if you are abusive to the coinbase staff or others (defaming, extortion, harrasment, stalking, threatening, encouraging hate or racial intolerance. Fraud and gambling is also on the list, and this can be open to a wide interpretation. Prohibited bussiness is also a thing (investment and credit services, counterfeit goods, regulated product (marijuana, alcohol tobacco) or drug and drug paraphernalia (including pseudo-pharmaceuticals - unverified health claims products), adult content, multi-level marketing, high risk bussiness. With this, there should be no DEFI on your transaction list, right?
There is a conditional usefor in-game currency, charities, religious organisations and games of skill
Coinbase Pro has similar limitations, the only difference being that trading fees are added to the mix.
As for staking, they do not guarantee that you will receive any staking rewards, any specific staking reward or any staking return, including the staking reward rate.

Enemy at the gates - Apple versus Coinbase
here is no meddling to Coinbase apps, you would think. Yet, Apple blocked Coinbase app ability to pay interest for Tezos and DAI, and all access to DEFI instruments, upset because they cannot cash in into their respective money flow. The Coinbase CEO, Brian Amstrong, published a very interesting Twitter thread, and you can read it bellow:

After all this thread, the things went south, and two factions seems to prevail, one blaming Apple, Alphabet (Google) and Amazon for their well-known atitude against competition (better to prevent that to fight against it), and another faction telling Brian to not be a Karen, as Apple platform got Apple in the name, not Coinbase, so they can do whatever they find fit in their own court, with even few pointing out the same atitude in Coinbase camp when it is about their own competition (i will not even start the discussion about TRON here). Apple in turn, send a veiled message to Coinbase reminding them how Coinbase protected their customers money during the Twitter hack, by stopping the people to send it to the hackers, and apparently doing this against the client choice of spending and free will. So, posing in the good guys, Apple admit it that they do not want their clients to lose money to DEFI, which may be true partially. Some even believe that Apple may be working on a competitive financial product that could potentially affect the cryptocurrency market.
Now, we have few aspects here:
-The bad one - Apple using their near-monopol position to dictate to the market, and do that for their own profit, even if this means positioning yourself against the progress. This is mainly greed, and most probably they cannot get a cut from all the money directed into the DEFI products. If they play this card wrong, in the next 5-10 years they can be demoted from their leading place. Also, they may work into a similar product, and do not want people to find another similar app/dapp from their direct competition.
-The legal one - In the end, it is their product and their name on it, so they can literarly do whatever they want related to this issue.
-The good one - By raising awareness, more people will realize what it is happening, but not many begginer would find out about DEFI, and they would not lose all their money buying DEFI tokens that live for a weekend. This can be potentially disastruos for crypto as a whole, and in limiting access to DEFI market, they do a service to all the crypto community (can you imagine finding out that someone in your town got a bussines that can triple your money overnight? You may believe it is a scam of some sorts, right? ).

What is vampire-mining? (A Sushi token step by step account)
In the Wild West of the cryptoVerse, a new scheme emerged from the shadows. The vampire-mining attack. What is this, you may ask? I give you SUSHI.
The story starts with an anonymous developer, copying Uniswap code almost line by line, and promising a token caled Sushi, on top of the trading fees rewards for liquidity providers and token holders, if you choose to use SushiSwap, instead of Uniswap. In a surprisingly bold move, 10 days later, the developer sold all his Sushi tokens for 13 millions dollars, and gave the decentralized exchange keys to a centralized exchange. Do you understand this? Maybe not, but this is how everything starts, not how our story ends. Everyone, me included, believed that this is just an exit scam. Anyway, our anonymous developer didn't dissapear in the shadows, with all his millions. Instead, he said that he sold all his part in order to better serve the project.
And the the final fantasy story emerge. On Uniswap, Liquidity providers (LPs) are incentivized with trading fees, and there is no native governance token. On Sushiswap, trading fees plus SUSHI tokens get distributed to LPs. A portion of the fees also get converted back to SUSHI, and distributed to SUSHI token holders, not too confusing at all, so that if an LP stops providing liquidity, they can continue to receiving part of the protocol’s fees by holding the token. SUSHI is also the token used in the protocol’s governance. But this extra rewards plan is not the inovation. The brilliant idea is the one sucking the Uniswap liquidity, and redirecting all the funds to SushiSwap. How are they doing this? Initial they were using Uniswap’s LP tokens in order to get Sushi tokens, only to change this later, using Sushiswap LP instead of Uniswap LP tokens, so Uniswap Liquidity becomes Sushiswap liquidity. In layman terms, they copied the bussines, and run with all their clients. 4th of September - 1.6 billion out of 1.8 billion on Uniswap were rediredted to Sushiswap. All of this done under a mystical robin-hoodesque aura generated by Chief Nomi, our misterious developer, promising a DEX governed by small people, for the small people. Which may be far from truth, as FTX holds not only the exchange keys, but also more than 9% of the total SUSHI in existence are linked to Alameda Research, hence SBF (also known as FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried). Then, ChefNomi sold everything, and SBF asked for the key to be handed over to somebody else, as there is no future with Chef Nomi, and the price plummets. Part of it because SBF was dumping Sushi heavily. After some strange popularity contest, ChefNomi will give the private keys to SBF. The price starts to grow, and smart people start to think that Chef Nomi and SBF are one and the same person. The peace was negociated, the migration was arranged, and extra tokens were promised if the common people do not jump the sinking ship. Which, at least in theory, means that those behind SushiSwap may soon be responsible for carrying hundreds of million of dollars in tokens from one open protocol to another one, with code that hasn’t been tested and which had a bug days ago ( a bug in migration code was found, and fixed on 7th of September. DEFI space change mso much lately, Compound was the wunderkid, Yfi showed us the posibility, and YAM was the first warning. On top of this, research by on-chain analytics provider, Glassnode, has taken a deep dive into the economics and value of the SUSHI token,revealing that it may be worth far less than its current price, just $0.31 and nothing more.
What we will see next, we cannot even imagine. The reality is more often, these days, stranger than fiction.

My best faucets - after one month
I was testing different faucets for one month, to see which one is good and which one is not. After analyzing everything, i stopped using the most of them, and i stick to just four faucets. Let's see which are the winners!

05.09.2020 - Another day into Cryptoverse
BTC, the most known cryptocurrency, is currently trading at $10,468, down -4.51% on yesterday at the time of writing. Most of the market is in RED, except few crypto, surprisingly increasing, such as Digibyte, Tron and Storj (all in single digits). The main cause is the failure to test $12.000 and stay above this psychological level. Coincidence or not, the stock market also dropped significantly.
Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey has said crypto assets are "unsuited to the world of payments", and the banks are the ones you need to trust. Excuse me if i somehow doubt your good intentions. The time has come, and their attempts to shame crypto make me only laugh (in front of danger).
China is decreasing their reserves of dollars, with more than 200 billions in Treasury bonds. They are also trying to improve and to practically use the digital yuan. Their reasons are the record amounts of US dollars being printed by the country’s Federal Reserve (brrrrr!) , leading to fears of imminent dollar inflation and the lovely US President Donald Trump’s repeated attacks on the Chinese administration. Not only China, but other countries too actively try to decrease the reliance on US-dollar assets. Maybe they will look towards crypto?
The Swiss canton of Zug will begin accepting taxes in bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH) from February next year, up to 110.000 USD.
Binance made a move to compete with the likes of Uniswap and Mooniswap, launching the Binanceswap. In its initial state, the liquidity can be provided only in 3 choices: BUSD/USDT, BUSD/DAI and USDT/DAI.

04.09.2020 - Another day into Cryptoverse
Bithumb, the biggest South Korean exchange, was raided by police after an alleged 25 millions dollars fraud related to BXA tokens. This happened already once this week, when police checked on Coinbit exchange because of them pumping fake volumes of crypto sales.
YAM, PASTA, SUSHI, KINCHI, we had a crazy week in DEFI market, yet the total value of crypto locked into the projects reached 9 billions. The biggest TVL (total value locked) is on Uniswap: 1.81 billions, followed by MakerDao. (Out of this, 1.2 billion dollars is just from SUSHI). My personal opinion, if you cannot face the risk, stay far far away from all the DEFI projects.

First Aid (8) - Hypothermia and heatstroke
**Hypothermia** - prolonged exposure to cold, causing body to fall under 35 degrees Celsius.
Symptoms: Shivering, cold, pale, dry skin, apathy, disorientation or irrational behaviour, lethargy, impaired consciouness, slow shallow breathing, slow, weakening pulse.
What to do: move them to a shelter, remove wet clothing, make sure head is covered, protect them from the ground (blanket or thick dry layer of insulating material), call 999 or 112 (in UK), give them warm drinks and/or high energy foods (chocolate, butter). Monitor vital signs until help arrives.
Indoors: cover with blankets, give warm drinks nd/or high energy foods (chocolate, butter). Monitor vital signs until help arrives.
Do not give alcohol, it is making hypothermia worst, reheat slowly, avoid hot bath or hear sources nearby (heating too quickly can divert the blood flow from heart and brain. Always ensure your own safety (removing your own clothing to provide extra layers for casualty is a big NO-NO).
**Heatstroke** - serious condition occuring when the body becomes dangerously overheated. Can develop with little warning and lead to unconsciouness withing minutes of feeling unwell.
Symptoms: body temperature above 40 degrees Celsius. Rapid deterioration in level of response, hot, flushed and dry skin, headache, dizziness and discomfort, full pounding pulse, restlessness and confusion.
Treatment: move the person to a cool, shaded place, remove our layer of clothing, call 999 or 112 for emergency help. Sit down and support with cushions, wrap them in a cold, damp sheet until the temperature starts to fall. Keep the sheet damp by pouring cold water over it, use a fan if possible. When temperature is good, replace the wet sheet with a dry one. Monitor and record vital signs, if temperature rises again, restart the cooling process.

First Aid (7) - Fractures, sprains and strains
**Sprains and strains** - when soft tissues are overstretched. Apply the RICE method
R- Rest - rest the injured par by sitting pr lying down
I - Ice - ice or cold pack applied to reduce swelling
C -Compress - cold compress in place
E -Elevate - raised position of the limb to minimise bruising and swelling, not too tight.
**Fractures** - can be open (when bone breaks the surface of the skin) or closed (skin is intact, bones underneath are displaced, there is danger of internal bleeding). Keep still, place padding around injury for extra support, arrange for the casualty to go to hospital (of course, call the ambulance if it is a broken leg). Always tie the knots of the support bandages on the uninjured side, treat for shock if necessary.
**Shock** - someone is in shock if blood pressure falls unexpectedly.
Causes: a reduction in the volume of fluid cisculating around the body (external or internal bleeding, loss of bodily fluids through diarrhoea, vomiting or burns), the blood supply being diverted from the surface of the body to the core (hearth, brain, internal organs).
Symptoms: rapid pulse, pale, cold clammy skin, weakned, giddiness, nausea, vomiting, thirst, rapid, shallow breathing. If oxygen supply to brain weakens, the casualty may yawn, gasp for air, become inconscious and in the end the hart will stop.
Treatment: treat the cause of shock immediately (example: external bleeding). Lay them down, keep head low, elevate legs (careful if there is a fracture), loosen tight clothing, straps or belts, call emergency services. Check and record breathing and pulse and level of response. Reassure the casualty.
Do not leave them unattended, do not let them to eat, drink or smoke. Don't move them unnecessarely.

First Aid (6) - Anaphylactic shock
**Anaphylactic shock** - severe allergic reaction affecting the whole body, potentially fatal.
Triggers: nuts, shellfish, eggs, wasp and bee stings, latex, certain medications.
A casualty in anaphylactic shock needs ewmergency treatment with an injection of adrenaline.
Symptoms: red itchy rash, watery eyes, swelling of hands, feet or face, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarhoea, difficulty brathing, pale or flushed skin, swelling of the tongue or throat, confusion, agitation, signs of shock.
Treatment: Call 2222 in hospital or 999 outside hospital (in UK). Tell operator that you supect anaphylactic shock. Check if they have an epipen and use it. Best to sit up in a position relieving any breathing difficulty, if pale or weak pulse, lie down. Monitor pulse, temperature, blood pressure and breathing. Repeated doses of adrenaline can be given every 5 minutes using an epipen is the symptoms return or there is no improvement.

First Aid (5) - Strokes and seizures at children and adults
**Stroke** - third most common cause of death and first most common cause of severe diability. More than 250.000 people in UK live with disabilities caused by a stroke. A stroke is a kind of brain attack, when the blood supply is cut off, and the essential nutrients and the oxygen cannot go to the brain. Without them, the brain cells are damaged or destroyed. Body functions are affected, aswell as the ways of how we think, learn, feel and communicate. A stroke is sudden and has immediate effects.
How to recognize it? Use the FAST method
F - Face - Is their face fallen on a side? Can they smile?
A - Arms - Can they raise both arms and keep them up?
S -Speech - Is their speech slurred?
T -Time - Call 999 for ambulance if any of the signs is present.
**Seizures in children** - come in two forms, febrile and epilectic. If they have a fever higher than 37 degrees Celsius and skin is hot at touch, they need to drink plenty of water and have a recommended dose of Paracetamol syrup to reduce discomfort. If the fever is high, you may have febrile seizure - muscle twitch, eyes fixed or rolled upward, back arching, fists clenching, holding their breath, face looking blue. Cool the child by opening a window or a door, remove layers of clothing. Once the child is cool, after few minutes, the seizure should stop. If it is first one or lasts more than 5 minutes, take the child to hospital as soon as possible.
**Seizures in adults** - interruption in brain electrical activity causes muscles to contract uncontrolably (seizures or fit). the person tends to lose consciouness.Can be caused by trauma, head injury, alcohol poisoning or diabetes (hypoglicaemia). You need to check the level of response, pulse, breathing, if they are safe and not harming themselves during the fit.
Key signs:
Sudden loss of consciouness,
Rigid body with arching back,
Noisy difficult breathing,
Convulsions (jerky, uncontrolled movements),
Loss of bladder and bowel control,
Can be confused afterwards, fall into deep sleep.
Do not restrain them, move sharp objects out of the wayt, time the seizure (how many minutes), protect their head, put them in recovery position. If they stop brathing, perform CPR and call the ambulance.
