First Aid (2) - Heart attack

What is the heart attack? When the blood flow from the heart becomes blocked, you have a heart attack. Symptoms: -Persistent chest pain, spreading to the arms, neck, jaw, back or stomack -Breathelesness, -Feeling unwell, sweating. What you do? -Place the person in half sitting position, with head and shoulders supported and knees bent, -In public place call the ambulance (999 or 112 in UK) and tell the operator that you suspect a heart attack, -If you have access to some Aspirin, you give 300mg to chew, to buy time. Chewing make it to absorb faster, -If they got angina, they need to take their angina medications, -Monitor and record vital signs - level of response, breathing and pulse, until help arrives, -If inconscious, open the airways and check for breathing. If it is not breathing, start CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). Using AED (Automated External Defribilator) -It is designed to be used by a member of public on someone whose heart has stopped (sudden cardiac arest) -An AED can be used without training, they are widely available (at least in UK), safe and easy to use. It will not administer a shock to a person who does not need it. -The AED analyses the casualty's heart rhythm. then use visual or voice prompts to guide you each step at the time, in order to deliver an electric shock if the person's heart has stopped or it is in fibrillation. -Make sure you know where is the AED at work or close to your home and try to learn the basics about how to use it.
