Disappointment can be life-changing. It can be the push one needs to work harder and prove doubters wrong while it can also be demoralizing and goal killing.
The lesson we learn from an experience differs from person to person. It is left to us to choose whether we will take the positive out of it or the negative. I once heard the story of two brothers who lived in the same community. One of them is known to beat his wife in at the slightest provocation. He doesn't mind if it's in public or not. But it's so surprising that the younger brother treats his wife like a Queen. He showers her with gifts and promises. Ladies around pray to have a man like him as a husband.
On a certain day, the community called a meeting to resolve the issues between the older brother and his wife after the usual public fight they had. At the meeting, everyone expresses how shocking and unbelievable it is to hear that the two brothers who grew up together exhibit different characters. They decided to ask them what could be the reason for each brother's behaviour towards their wives.
The older one said growing up he watches how his Dad beats their mother and he took after his father. While the younger one says he watches how his mum weeps and clean the bruises on her body after engaging in another fight with their father and decided that he will never lay his hands on his wife.
The older brother was ashamed and realised how different his brother his even though they encountered this same thing.
To all my wonderful sponsors, i say "Thank you"
You've got no excuse...
Reading different stories about the struggles people passed through growing up and the women and men they turned out to be. Some experience pales compared to others. While some look so unreal that it brought tears to my eye. Also going through the story of so many great men and women who faced so many obstacles but didn't give in or accept failure.
Are you facing problems at work?. In school? Or where you live?. Rather than see it as a problem, why don't you take it as a test? Before any student get promoted to another level he/she must sit for some series of test. This reminds me of a song we do sing back in Primary school-
🎶🎼 Before Gold gets to shine it passed through fire
I've never heard of a man who became a man without working
Before the morsel becomes soft it passed through the steam.
I've never seen a success story without hard work.
Before Gold gets to shine it passed through fire.
Whoever will be a man will see a lot🎼🎶
We sing the song with a vigour not knowing the meaning. Maybe because it's composed with our dialect or because of the word "Gold" which we call "Goldu" in my dialect. Even if we didn't know the deep meaning of the song, we knew Gold was something precious.
Remember the lyrics today. I wrote it down and I realised the deep message we were being taught back then.
Are you done complaining?. Now it's time to act...
Most of us blame our country. "Only if I was born in a better country"
Most blame the family they are born into "Only if I was born into this family or that"
Some even blame their star "I was told I was born on an auspicious day- that's why"
If you keep on looking for excuses or who to blame you won't achieve anything. You need to take a stand now. Leave your comfort zone. That place where you feel so comfortable, that place you've set as your limit, that place you feel is your safe haven. Leave their now. Don't just stay in a place and expect changes. Provoke the change you need. Have you tried before and failed?. Try again and again until you succeed.
Never belittle yourself. Don't feel your dream is too big. Aspire for the stars and in case you don't get there, you will fall among the galaxies.
Rise up star and show the world what you've got. 🌟

We don't really have the power to change everything but we have the power to make it better ❤️
