Loving Adults

"The major reason why people commit murder is because of Love. It's either to protect someone they love to fight someone they once loved."

Those aren't my word, that's from the movie Loving Adults. The storyline reminds me of the article ate Jane wrote the other day about a cheating husband, titled "Is one not enough"

If you hate spoilers this article isn't for you. I'm not a fan of movies with lip syncs. If I'm to watch a Danish or Spanish movie, I prefer it to remain Danish or Spanish. What I need is the subtitle. Even when I watch English-speaking movies I watch them with subtitles. I can’t just do without it. The site where I watch the movie used English sync instead of sticking to the language used in the movie so I was discouraged from the beginning and concluded that it won't be a nice watch.

However, I can say the movie is a nice one. A lot of lessons though the couples got away with what they both did.

Summary

The story is narrated by a detective to his daughter who was about to tie the knot.

A wife got to know her husband is cheating on her with a colleague at work. She was suspecting him at first but her suspicion was confirmed at a company party where she caught her husband making out with his lover. The lover looked her in the eye with a mischievous smile on her face. She felt no remorse about this.

She sacrificed her career 20 years ago just to take care of their some who constantly falls sick. The boy is now healthy, 18 years old and close to graduating. The woman wondered where she will start from, after leaving her promising music (violinist) over 20 years ago.

She threatened to leak her husband's illegal business (manipulating the exchange rate for his construction company) to the police if he leaves her. He sort council from friends and after hearing something about the woman’s past he decided to just kill her.

While the woman was on one of her morning jogs, he hit her with a van and speed off. He already has an alibi set in place in case the police come knocking. Unfortunately, after getting back home with guilt eating him deeply, he started shaking and fidgeting. His trauma got worse when his wife came in through the door. To say he was shocked out of his pants is an understatement.

It was made known that he killed a mother of 3 and not his wife. His wife got to know when she started suspecting his behaviour. She got scared but later used the situation to her advantage. She asked him to kill his lover to protect his family or his secrets will be out. She confessed to killing her ex-lover who cheated on her so it wasn't something new to her.

Together the couple created an alibi and the husband went off to kill his lover. He couldn't do it because of the love he has for her but the wife followed him and did what needed to be done. The husband was shocked but he was already knee-deep in the mess because of his previous decisions. They both sort ways to cover their tracks and they were fortunate to get away with it.

Author Pov

Though they got away with the atrocities they committed, I'm sure they will live a guilt-ridden life, at least the husband.

The wife looks like a hardened criminal with no conscience but I can't help not blaming the husband for this. Who won't turn cold-blooded when they realise their partner staged an accident for them? After sacrificing their career for the marriage only to ask for a divorce when she's next to useless.

We men need to do better. There will always be women out there more beautiful than your wife but you need to be contented with what you have and also know that Marriage isn't just about "love", it requires dedication and a lot of commitment.

Love, Marriage, and Soulmates are cliche that has lost their meanings in today's world. People just use them when in the drift of the moment without knowing what they entail. Some people get to know the meaning very late after taking the step already while some are lucky to learn from others. Which category do/will you fall into?
