I'm excited and glad to be back on the site. I took few days break due to my exams and decided not to post any articles because the ones I drafted might require me to answer some questions thrown my way, which will be impossible because of the Exam. It will be a great injustice if I just come online and dump an article every day without interacting with others, hence my silence for some time.
The ongoing prompt "Disturbance "comes to mind. But I will save that for some other day. Maybe someday I will write about my experience for the past 5 days. The headaches and the anxiety, the happiness and joy ...all these in few days make it one to remember for a very long time.
Enough of the talk, let's move on to today's topic which was prompted by the just concluded exam. For weeks I anticipated the exam and kept on saying it's still far away. At some points, I was asking myself "will this day ever come?". It came and it has gone with bittersweet memories, then it hit me- "No matter the year you postpone it to, it will come and pass"
You have pending work but choose to postpone it to a later date. "I will do it tomorrow, "you say to yourself. Or you've been given a task but you look at the calendar and realise it's still far away so you decided to relax a little bit instead of going straight to the task, believe me, 2040 is here before you know it. I know this might sound a little bit exaggerating but I'm sure you get the message.
Procrastination is a disease that has no host limit or an exclusive list. It can affect anyone who gives it room. Laziness is at the top of the list, once you are lazy, you will surely procrastinate and always look for a way to justify your actions. You will always have an excuse at hand.
People can go to any extent to justify their actions. Some even talk about the advantages of procrastinating to console themselves.
The best way to get a job done is to do it yourself and the best time to do it is now. You should start that assignment today, that work given to you with a deadline of next month should be done today. Waiting until the deadline before starting can be dangerous. Though some people tend to work well under pressure but have you tried working days before the deadline?. The peace of mind and no pressure makes one produce their best.
Apart from you having ample time to work and give your best, it also gives one room to detect errors and do the necessary corrections. After going over the work, you may see better ideas or ways of going about the work.
Delivering your work on time increases your credibility. People respect you and it opens the door for more jobs and opportunities. Most bosses appreciate workers that deliver on time and sometimes it comes with bonuses. But if you are the type that procrastinates and delivers work late, it tarnished your image.
So what are you waiting for? Rise and get to work mate!. Don't push it till Tomorrow!
