Women's day (Let fix our rights)

A very lovely day to you all readstars and to all the women of the world. Hurray! Shout out to us! another memorable day that means something huge to every woman of the world. Once again, it the International women's day today. Proudly a woman per say! The call for today's celebration is to commemorate the political, socioeconomic and cultural achievement. The women's rights and issues such as gender equality and abuse.

Personally, today feels like women independence day to me. Maybe because I am and always motivated to do things in my own way and express myself how I feel in every situation with respect to the environment. On behalf of women of the world, I am grateful for today.

This right of a thing has been for thousand years debated and the outcome of this seemingly everlasting debate isn't loud. After many years of this awareness of gender right equality, it sad to say that it is not applicable in so many places. I am using my country for instance here.

Here in Nigeria, this gender equality has so many loop holes that needs to be filled up. Especially in most aspect of politics.. So many positions are normalized for men only instead of women. The position of Governors, president and other top positions in Nigeria seem not being possible to be possessed by women. Women are greatly involved in politics but are given minor positions even when they contest for higher positions, the number of votes they get seems so poor that I keep wondering if it only the family of the contestant that voted.

Seminars and events are always organized against this gender inequality featuring lots of speakers but at the end, it bears no fruit. What's happening is a question I can't answer till now. Even when women with powers try to move higher, they are somehow removed and replaced. Who is to blame? the system or the women. Could it be that women are scared and lack the motive to get things fixed in its right places or is it that the system doesn't give them the opportunity.

This is a world of development and awareness, in other countries of the world, women are Governor, president and other higher positions per say. They hold the position tight and strong with trust and leave a great impact. Sometimes, I feel this nation should just copy some things from other nations. Inside here, during campaigns, women will always take the lead and support quest. Apparently, they are larger in number and counts more in numbers of votes. So, they have the major role in selection leaders through their votes. What then happens when it a woman contesting for a higher position. The number of votes becomes low when it the woman's turn to be voted for in higher positions. What an irony!

This still doesn't end on politics and political matters. Land ownership and property acquisition in some places in Nigeria still needs to be addressed. In some homes, women are not allowed to own a land . The land are shared amongst men only and even in some marriages, the woman isn't given all the right to go everywhere. For so many years, there have always been seminars and I thank God for that,but how do those seminars help in checking what's on board.

In most cases where the woman didn't have a male child for her husband, it becomes an issue and they are not fairly treated because of that. Even the widows have to fight for their husbands property before the burial of their late husbands. All these are not just fair. Things should be changing in this modern world and the voice and face of women being heard and seen respectively.

No one owns the world. We were all created and even when we die, we die with nothing. So what's the point of denying others their rights simply because of their gender. In a nutshell, it pointless.

I strongly believe that there is solution to all these gender based a d related issues. The real solution starts from us women. We have to personally get it right in ourselves and know that we owe nobody anything and no one owes us anything. As God made man, He made woman. I understand that man has dominion over the earth but still, women have more roles to play in this dominion. Making our voices heard and not supporting poor systems of government is a way of tackling these. We have to be proud and believe in ourselves more than anything. Together,we can make this change.
