She cooked without a salt
Happy Sunday Readlanders! I know everyone is having a good time with lovelies and families. I am right here with mom and cousin sis chilling cool with a bottle of Glenfiddich and some cakes for my elder brothers birthday. Today is Sunday and a vibe to fun and relaxation after worshiping. Make sure you are refreshed today because it is an opportunity for that after working through the week, cheers to Sundays!
After coming back from church service today, I was cleaning up the house when I started perceiving a nice aroma of a delicious stew. The scent came from outside because we were yet to cook food. Well, I enjoyed the moment because the good air is refreshing, I took some breath in exercise to the aroma as I cleaned the house. I definitely know that it is a tomato stew because as a person that cooks, I am familiar with such aromas. Have you ever heard one before: a sweet and mouthwatering aroma from the neighbors or the streets? This kinda comes often when we're hungry and want to eat. I can say it is similar to watching people on screen 🙂 eating a five-star meal while you're hungry, lol!
Gone are those days when people will say that food that has a sweet aroma doesn't really taste as it scents, they say the food might lack enough salt, or that there might not be enough spicy or whatever fault as it may be.. I don't know how true that is but I can only say that my food tastes good and the scents are so nice: mouthwatering, so to speak. But..
"Before I learnt cooking so well, let me share with you guys one of my greatest challenges with salt."
I love cooking, it makes me happy and because of that, I picked an interest in the kitchen at a very early age. The first time I cooked yam porridge, it tasted so salty and a little bitter, the yam was good but the whole porridge wasn't as I wished. I took the correction from my sister and next time I cooked, I called her attention to help me salt the food as I looked and learned that was how I started.
Sometimes when no one is around, I intentionally skip adding salt. This is because I thought that instead of spoiling my sweet food with salt, I would rather not put them at all. They would complain that there was no salt but yes, it can be added to your taste if you want. My early cooking days were fun, sometimes I forget to add salt to my good food. Salt is really so important in cooking because it brings out the taste of other spices.
Who would taste food without a single salt and like it, or a salty food and love it? These were my mistakes I made till that age of nine to ten when I was still learning how to cook perfectly. Now I am the best at cooking yummy foods to my taste and can even cook without checking for salt until I'm done and the food is ready. Thumbs up to me, lol!
I never knew I would have a taste of the aroma I perceived earlier today while cleaning the house. It happened that after we were done with house chores, my cousin sister and I went to visit a new neighbor who just packed in. She is way older than me and my sis, as we reached her house, she was so happy to see us because she had invited us to help her lose her hair. After helping her out, she offered us food which she has specially prepared for us and for the Sunday. At first, we didn't want to eat because we already had enough at home but we just decided to eat together. To her taste, the food was fine but to me and my cousin sis', there was no salt at all. She might have forgotten about adding salt while cooking the food . My cousin sis decided to ask her about the salt not being in the food and she quickly said she forgot to add it...
That took me back to those days when I cooked like her, lol! Forgetting to add salt can be a common thing among cooks at home, even my mom has forgotten to add salt in her soup some time ago. It is just funny to me forgetting to add any spicy in my food or hearing from others as well. Some even prefers no salt at all while some prefers much pepper or no pepper at all. Salt is always the most noticed in the meeting is spices and ingredients.
Thanks for reading and have a beautiful Sunday.

It's lovely to hear how you picked quite an interest in cooking. Salt is a very important factor in meals, I can't even imagine eating a meal that's too salty or have no salt, although just like the lady and you, when you were younger, I have also forgotten to add salt to my meals.
