The journey through the tunnel.
I had a rough night, lots of memories were flowing through my head. It happens often but I haven't allowed it in a long time, it makes me cold and sometimes opens the door to doubt, fear, and the uncertainties of tomorrow.
The remembrance of a childhood friend made me forcefully look back at those days, I don't like digging through because it most times ruins my mood. Growing up was hard and as difficult as I thought life was for my family, we were living better than some people. The boy, in particular, had a difficult upbringing, we played football together and he was really good, he can frustrate a defender with his dribbling skill.
His education wasn't stable but he was happy and full of energy. He was always dreaming of playing international football someday but he lost his life on the brink of a breakthrough, his memory coupled with the news about people committing suicide due to the current dip in the crypto-verse got me thinking about how many people will make it through the tunnel.
I have lost count of how many times I have come across the saying that "There is light at the end of the tunnel", I know you must have heard it numerous times as well. It is an inspiring saying because truly no matter how long travel through a dark tunnel, you will see the light again once you reach the end of it but have you ever imagined how many people end up getting out of the tunnel?
The journey of many has ended right in the tunnel and they wouldn't be able to see the light again, the tunnel is a perfect illustration of the challenges many people face in the world today.
Many have ended their journey right in the tunnel, it is sad to know that kids with lots of dreams and energy can’t carry on and even many had to end their journey themselves because it was taking too much time traveling through the tunnel. While illness and accidents ended a lot of people's journeys, some ended their journey seeking shorter routes out of the tunnel and some couldn’t find the energy to carry on.
The boy I mentioned earlier didn’t have power over the sudden illness that took his life; he fought hard but didn’t make it out of the sickbed. That’s natural, some things can’t just be stopped from happening and I am certain he would have done anything possible to stay alive and accomplish his dreams but what do we say about people who are responsible for ending their journey?
A lot of youth today keep seeking a shorter route out of the tunnel, they involve in crimes and other terrible things that have put a stop to their journey, it would have been great if they understood that there is no shortcut out of the tunnel. It is impossible to skip some steps in life; we just have to go through the right path so that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Some ran faster and exhausted themselves. They did everything possible to reach the end but they encountered lots of setbacks and decided to end their life which is the cruelest thing man can do to him or herself. I have always believed that as long as I have life in me, the journey must continue because that’s the fuel you need to travel through the journey.
Suicide is never an option no matter what we encounter through the tunnel, committing it tells how much of an ingrate we are to God. The truth is that every human would travel through the tunnel at a point in life except you choose to be stagnant, we usually don’t know how long the journey will take and we must stay alive to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
What do you need to do to travel through the tunnel successfully?
I believe that many of us have embarked on either long or short journeys before, and we usually prepare ahead of the trip. Depending on what kind of trip it is, we do go with clothes and other things, the tunnel journey also requires preparation.
There are things you must travel with:
God
Every human journey in life requires the Almighty God because he is the only person capable of guiding us through the journey, he wouldn't mislead us so he should be our priority in life. Praying and studying the word of God will do us a lot of good before, during, and after the journey through the tunnel.
The will to Learn
There is a saying that "knowledge is power", the only way we can acquire knowledge is by learning. Learning is compulsory for every human, we need it to stay relevant in life. Learning only stops when life ends, we must continue to learn as long as there is life in us, it would have a positive impact on us while traveling through the tunnel.
Humility and kindness
The journey requires you to travel to the best behaviors, you will be needing that a lot. We have to be good, humble, and kind, we don't know who is going to make a difference for us and if we have misbehaved to them, then we might be spending extra years traveling a short distance tunnel.
Challenges in life are inevitable, we will encounter them the moment we choose to take a step in making progress but with thorough preparation and God on our side, we will definitely travel through the tunnel and see the light at the end of it.
Truly the lack of knowledge is one of the factors that lead to bad investment decisions which may later cause huge trouble for us. We need to keep learning.
