My only Christmas wish...
Nathan would be 19 this Christmas but his existence meant nothing to him from the day he knew that he had a limited time to live, the news turned his life around negatively. Even his parent wished they didn't disclose the news to him, they wanted him to be the son they use to have 6 years ago.
He was born on the 25th of December 2002, his birth brought lots of joy to his parents who had waited for over 10 years in their marriage just to have a child and when he came, he was a cute baby boy. Every nurse on duty were astonished at the beauty he came into the world with, he had so much hair for a baby but it added more to his beauty.
He grew well and started creche before two, he was intelligent and everyone who came across him guessed that he might be the next Frank Einstein. Nathan was always at the top of the class, he became every teacher's favorite student. He was known everywhere he has been to, the church choir doesn't pray he misses any church service because he is the best instrumentalist they have got even though he was just 12 years of age.
A year from now, Nathan would be 13 and it would be his last year in college. He was eager to go to the Universities and become one of the best surgeons in the world, it wasn't just a dream for young Nathan. He had the will to save lots of life as a surgeon and he worked towards it every day of his life which made his parents very proud of him.
A few months to go in college, a football competition was hosted by the school for the students who are willing to be part of the challenge.
Nathan spoke to some of his friends about it and they agreed to join him to make a team and the reward would be shared equally among them if they by chance won the competition. They contributed money to get a uniform and registered themselves as the elite.
He was the youngest in the group and no one knew his ability because he hasn't played a football match in school before.
The competition started well and they went as far as reaching the finals of the competition, Nathan became a star as he was the only player without a foul, he has scored the highest number of goals and also created four assists which made him the second player with the most assist in the competition.
His parents were forced to come to see the match with Nathan's siblings because Nathan's picture was on banners and posters made for the final, they wouldn't want to miss one of their kid's wonderful moments.
It was on a Saturday, the final kicked off at exactly 11 am. It was full of action but both teams couldn't score because the goalkeepers were pro and they made more saves in a single match than they have done in the previous matches in the competition, that would make you understand how tough the match was.
At the end of the second extra time, the two teams prepared for a penalty shoot-out. The players from both teams did a great job scoring from the spot-kick, the opponent lost their last kick and the fate of the competition was in the hands of Nathan. He picked the ball and placed it properly for the moment we believed to be final in the competition, the whole crowd was chanting his name as he moved back a bit from the ball.
Nathan moved slowly towards the ball again in an attempt to kick it but he slumped to the floor, everywhere went quiet because nobody knew what was wrong and the school medical team ran towards him for treatment.
The situation of things demanded that he was taken to the hospital and the parent started panicking immediately they saw an ambulance enter the stadium.
They left their sit but couldn't catch up with the medics so they went in their car behind the ambulance, the match continued and the Elite won but the star man in the competition wasn't there to receive his honors.
A minute prayer was observed for him to get well as soon as possible but it was more than just a football injury.
