My day out

I woke up early than usual today because it’s Monday again and I have a very early morning class. I am feeling so good that I did all the morning chores lightly. My roommate who is my colleague also is still asleep, so as much as possible, I move around the room silently. She woke up and I’m already dressed up. She was shocked at how early I was today. I just told her that I have an 8:00 class scheduled today.

When I got up to my space in my classroom, I set up my laptop, the internet, and the books I will need. I sent the link for my class to my pupils through Gmail. As I was waiting on the google classroom for my pupils to come, I was browsing Facebook, and then I stopped scrolling when I saw the post of the town mayor announcing that there will be no class today in observance of the 8th year commemoration of the Typhoon Yolanda victims.

I was terrified because some of my pupils are already in the Google classroom. I have to revert the link because I just later found out about the announcement. I went to the school admin’s office but it was still close, so I just called her. She instructed me to announce it properly to the children and also give a further announcement on our group chats. Everything was done accordingly.

Our school admin came and since all of us are free, she said we’re going to choose who will be our Manito/Manita for the planned Christmas Party. What we did is we wrote our names on a piece of paper and roll it. It was put inside a box. Each of us will get one and whoever is the person on the paper we picked will be the one we will send a gift to. It took us a while doing it because one of my colleagues keep on getting her name. After five attempts, we successfully have done it. To avoid confusion on what to give to the other, we wrote on a whiteboard our top 3 wishes. I wrote mine an airbed, a watch, and a copper mask. I just included a copper mask there though I can really buy it for myself it turns out I can’t think of anything to write on the wish list and a copper mask was the last thing I was thinking to check out on Shopee.

After that, some of my colleagues left the school for they have nothing to do and it’s also a holiday. My roommate and I got bored. I was finishing some power points and making some quizzes when I think of going to the beach in the afternoon. It’s been a while since I’ve gone to the beach. I told her about my plan and she politely agreed with me, she’s also craving some sandy and salty water.

We finished our lunch quickly and after that, we went to Puregold to buy some snacks we could bring with us to the beach. It’s not that much just enough for two people.

The weather was so nice. The heat of the sun doesn’t prick the skin, the sky was so blue and the clouds were so white. It was really an indication of fair weather. I fell in love instantly with the view as we arrived at the beach.

There were several people in some cottages. We decided not to rent a cottage because it’s just the two of us. We just used a mat and we comfortably place our belongings.

What made it more amazing is that I saw a familiar face. I saw one of my pupils before who transferred now from a different school. He was just in Grade 1 when he became my pupil and now he’s in grade 3. He’s still the child who acts like Sheldon. He has a lot of trivia and information about anything that even he barely pronounce some words, he just keep on talking and this kid doesn’t even know how to speak Bisaya and Filipino. He was still talkative that made him so cute. He’s with his family. Their family was so nice that they share their food which we gladly accepted.

I totally enjoyed the sea. I seized the moment because I don’t know when will be the next time I’ll be visiting the sea again.

The sea is a therapy to me. I was able to clear up my mind with the breathtaking view of the sky, I was able to relax with the calming waves of the sea, and most of all I was able to free myself from the toxicity and negativities around me with a good talk with a good companion.
