Between intelligence and being smart

Often times we used the words Intelligence and being Smart interchangeably as though they mean the same thing. We most times ascribe to intelligent people as being smart, and vice versa. Is there a difference between the two, are they the same thing with different names?

You can not read a book to be intelligent, you need intelligence to read and understand a book. On the other hand, you can read a book to be smart by putting into practice what you have read. On the surface, intelligent people ought to be smarter, but often it's never so. The intelligent die with their intelligence while the smart take what they know, little as it may seem, and shine in life and in their endeavors. In fact, intelligence is only about 40% in play when it comes to financial pursuit. Smartness must be fully deployed to gain a financial advantage in whatever field you find yourself in. Intelligence can help to discover new financial avenues, but you must be smart enough to take bold steps in exploring the avenue. Remember, the financial markets are very competitive, so be the smart you can be, and don't forget to use your intelligence as well.
