Currently there is a lot of fighting going on about IFP. Some people trying to push agendas and others trying to split the community. I've seen quite a bit of this the last week on /r/btc and it's only getting worse as the upgrade date approaches. So what really matters right now? Mining pool votes:
Currently there are no votes for IFP by any mining pools. Why only mining pools and not miners? Well the nodes cast the votes not the individual miners. Don't get me wrong miners can vote but to do so they either need to change pools or go solo and hope to find a block. So with about a week to go until the upgrade there is zero support for IFP. That's what matters.
So what is all the noise about? Most of it is just people trying to cause a split. Just need to ignore them, downvote them, and move on. The outcome of this is not going to be decided on social media. It's going to be decided by those pools and they have probably already decided.
The only thing we need to watch for as this plays out are pools that start voting for it. If there are we need to know their intentions. Is it a hostile miner? Is it a miner that just didn't configure their software correctly? Watching and trying to correct disinformation is all we can do.
