I am rebranding TheFutureofBitcoin.cash website to TheHistoryofBitcoin.Cash for what I think are obvious reasons. If they are not obvious to you, then send me an email or reach out on telegram, as I wont be around here much anymore, unless read.cash decides to support the ABC chain.
And I will be posting a serialized version on TheHistoryofBitcoin.cash website, of what happened from January 2016 to November 18th, 2020 for those that care about my perspective of that history. I know there are a few BCHN/BU people who said they wanted to hear it, so anyone will be able to subscribe and get notifications on the new website going up on the weekend. All of the information from the old website will remain up as well as thefutureofbitcoin.com which was the Arnhem conference which kicked off the fork in 2017, and onchainscaling.com which predated the fork from when ɃTC as Big Blockers tried to come together and constantly failed.
And for clarity, it was recently in one of the telegram groups someone assumed I was saying goodbye to people in a nasty way. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is my 4th rodeo of forks, and the simple solution is always to let the nasty people go and move on to something that has a better chance of success.
The list of people I am saying goodbye to is far too long to publish here (about 100 names and pseudonyms), and doesn't include the many people who had already left because of the toxic environment created by the Anti-Amaury/ABC crowd.
The nasty folks can now relish their victory in capturing the protocol development of Bitcoin Cash and ousting ABC and everyone who supports them, including me.

It is funny how some people fail to see that what ABC is doing is not forcing others, nor are they saying they should be the only one that is being paid.
They basically say that they believe they have proven track record and a solid plan that provides value and that justifies asking 8% of the coinbase reward. They add to that, that they actually ask 4% for ABC dev and 4% for a council of miners and holders to decide on.
People interpret this as that there is no place for other implementations to coexist or even compete. This is not at all the case and Amaury has said as much.
There is room for others to provide value, build reputation and be similarly funded and they actually show by doing, how that would be done.
As an example: Say you are BCHD.
You have proven track record of providing value (instead of drama) and there is sufficient users for your software.
You release a soft fork on top of the ABC soft fork.
you say in that soft fork: ABC gets 8% and BCHD gets lets say 0.5% on top of that (assuming this 0.5% accurately reflects the value they provide for the ecosystem)
Now if the miners value BCHD and a multi implementation Bitcoin Cash they can do so and if sufficient numbers of miners support this, this will start to cause a risk for those running ABC software that does not support this new rule.
So now ABC has wipe out and reorg risk.
The miners will go to ABC to ask them to add this rule in their software or someone will release a patched version of this software.
As there is no cost to ABC (they still get their 8%) and the other smaller implementation only asks for a tiny cut to start with, it is very likely they will go along and release a version that offers that extra coinbase reward at some point, just because this offers their customers the most security.
So now BCHD is part of the paid infrastructure.
They can subsequently use "the council" to lobby for a higher reward and if their value to the network and their reputation is indeed high enough, the council is likely to agree on that which makes it possible for them, to after 6 months, get a higher percentage.
The discussion and drama would be mostly restricted to those that have long term stake and those that have been providing their mining services.
The most interesting thing is currently that people on the BCHN side do not even see this play.
That they are blinded by the narratives people have been spinning about ABC being the sole ruler and never to be removed and stuff like that.
They are unable to see (due to bias or lack of strategic thinking ability) to see the plays that are on the table. Games that are both competitive and non destructive.
They instead chose to go onto the baricades and protest .
The interesting thing about that, is that we are now looking at internal fights so this is not even the real battle yet and they are proving themselves to only rely on mob rule and social media spin.
Both of which very easily turn against you in the future and are guaranteed to not have a stable outcome. History has proven this over and over again.
But I guess people are not interested in history. They do not want to know what came before. Which is a sign of great immaturity as those who do not know history are destined to repeat it.
I watched the governance livestream they posted on YouTube.
One thing that was telling is that there was nobody from Bitcoin Unlimited there.
They all have their own ideas about how things "should " be but if that is the case then why have they not done anything other then advocating these past years.
BMP is the only thing that has been developed. It is shit but at least the guy has done something. No serious developer will ever tell you it is a good idea but it is much better then most others there
Also interesting was Roger flirting with Derek Magill (he is one foot in BSV and one foot in BCH 😍) and wanting George to invite him into the livestream.
**Are these the people that are the new leaders?**
Roger is going to jump ship. Move to other coins, include BSV (stable protocol 🎉) look for the next hot thing, try to gain back his status of crypto popular boy.
It is written all over his face.
They may win this battle but their complete lack of self awareness and strategic insight will cause them to lose at the same time. Most of what has caused the current situation is embraced on their side.
What ever happens on the ABC side, the BCHN side is destined for a future that is filled with the same BS that I have seen over and over again these past years.

“No you are not the enemy for wanting peace. But you assume it is something others did not or do not want. Many have worked years trying to keep or create peace and promote progress. Reality is that at some point the only thing left is to accept that peace without truth is not really peace. As long as lies are permitted to stay unchallenged and are even promoted as truth for political gain there will never be any peace. Just an illusion that people not paying attention can feel comfortable with.
The past year I have seen people say : we do not want a split, BCH should stay unified. And at the same time they would say: ABC is bad for BCH, Amaury is the enemy of BCH and should be fired .
And they proceeded to attach all sorts of stories and accusations of malicious intent to things that were said or done by anyone working within ABC or anyone supporting ABC. These accusations were not new, they actually started very shortly after the Amaury and ABC were instrumental in creating BCH. Just the past year opponents saw opportunity to create the right narrative as ABC needing funding and being more open about the issues it had been facing (including dishonesty by Roger Ver) was the desired show of weakness. The opportunity to build sufficient anti ABC and anti Amaury sentiment to create what we have today. Those that pay attention to what has happened and that are aware of the history and past behaviour of different players see things for what they are. And the time to stay quiet about it hoping it will lead to peace has passed.”

Why do I chair BCH Dev meetings and Who gets invited?
Let us all communicate better
When we started working with protocol developers in **2016** as onchainscaling.com we reached out to anyone who had knowledge or expertise about scaling Bitcoin and could use some help with their communications. People make the best decisions based on the best information. This resulted in three online conferences and us helping in the background with the first **Bitcoin Unlimited** organized **Satoshi Vision Conference**. https://www.onchainscaling.com
In **June** **2017** we put on thefutureofbitcoin.com conference in Arnhem at the same time organizing ZOOM calls for individuals and groups that wanted to communicate better. This continued *after* **Bitcoin Cash** was created. https://www.thefutureofbitcoin.com
Along the way, some developers branched off to do things that were not related (some I still stay in touch with), and some of them later decided to create a coin that was not exactly in the spirit of why **Bitcoin Cash** was created.
By **October 2017** it became clear that communications between different parties was less than ideal. After talking to different stakeholders, we initiated a first meeting in London during which participants expressed a desire for continued online meetings on a regular basis.
For these first meetings the invite list was fully inclusive which reflected the desire for everybody to work together towards the success of **Bitcoin Cash**. Everyone working on or otherwise supporting **Bitcoin Cash** infrastructure development was invited. The meetings were then fully governed by the meeting participants with procedural votes taking place every meeting. The meeting participants voted on all additional members, agendas, meeting confidentiality and more. Due to the clear differences between participating teams, the meeting organization was very formal and structured. Our role was one of organizing and facilitating under the rules set by meeting participants.
In **2018** the meetings were very regular and the process described above resulted in some very productive meetings. Apart from a few workgroup meetings, participants collectively decided to keep the meetings confidential and so no minutes or recording were made public.
In August we also were asked to organize a meeting that allowed a number of miners, businesses and developers to meet and discuss ***the future of Bitcoin Cash***. Again we took the role of facilitators helping others to communicate as well as possible. Where meeting members of the regular meetings had voted on keeping meetings confidential, that meeting passed a vote to make audio recordings public and so we published both an English and a Chinese version of the audio ...

Unfortunately our efforts to bring people together to communicate and collaborate did not prevent the November 15 network split which also resulted in the first series of meetings coming to an end.
Early 2019 a new series of meetings was set up with those that remained committed and continued to work on **Bitcoin Cash infrastructure development**. As the fully inclusive invite policy had not prevented the 2018 public drama and subsequent split, it was decided to focus on those that had clearly expressed an interest in working together. We suggested that public meetings might be more effective. The criteria for new participants after the hostile split in November 2018 were:
**Invited:**
1. Those that show continued proof of work - this means they are actively developing on **Bitcoin Cash** infrastructure with a preference or interest in the protocol layer.
2. Those that have a track record of/have an expressed interest in working together/collaborating with those that have been working towards the goals and future of **Bitcoin Cash**.
3. A willingness to actively participate and collaborate during meetings. In other words: people that do not just show up without further contributing to the technical discussions or who most of the time do not show up at all.
**Not invited:**
1. Those that actively supported or still support the minority project that was created as a result of the hostile attempt to take over **Bitcoin Cash** development in November of 2018,
2. Those that worked against those that defended the **Bitcoin Cash** goals and project before and during the split.
3. Those that have expressed hostility towards the chain known as **Bitcoin Cash** as it resulted after the November 15th 2018 events.
4. Those that were in favour of, or in some way rejoiced over protocol developers being sued.
(We were and are of the opinion that the vision and goals of the people involved in the November 2018 takeover attempt, are a distinct departure from the goals and vision with which the **Bitcoin Cash** project was started in the summer of 2017. A vision that clearly was supported by the majority of the stakeholders then and now. )
This meant that the BU leadership, who explicitly chose to support multiple chains and communities and even let supporters of projects openly hostile towards **Bitcoin Cash** influence and decide on the direction of their **Bitcoin Cash** full node software, would no longer be welcome. Their position on Full node developers being sued over the hostile split in November 2018, was an additional reason to no longer extend an invitation.

Invitations continued to be extended to BU members ***Emil Oldenberg*** as a representative of Bitcoin.com and ***Andrea Suisani*** as he had shown to be someone who always was willing to collaborate and communicate towards the future of **Bitcoin Cash**. Beginning of 2019 we approached another developer from BU but he indicated to us that he did not want to join unless the BU lead maintainer was invited.
Another developer currently active in a new full node project also remained on the invite list at that time as we believed him to be interested in continued collaboration and communication. He however notified us early 2019 he no longer felt motivated to continue participating in the meetings and asked us to remove him from the invite list.
The prime objective for these meetings is to provide an opportunity for productive inter-implementation collaboration and communication. An additional objective is to show **Bitcoin Cash** stakeholders what is being discussed and worked on by the individuals and teams that participate.
It is now **2020** and the process has never really changed for who is attending. If someone new is suggested, it is discussed with meeting participants and if no objections are raised an invitation is extended.

**Why do I chair BCH Dev meetings and Who gets invited***?*
I am happy to bring suggestions to the meetings I chair from individuals or groups outside, but as most of the Bitcoin Cash developers already know how to reach me or anyone else in the group for that matter, to my knowledge there have not been any direct requests that have met the simple requirements of respectful dialogue. Screaming on Reddit does not count.

Looking at a Communication Problem
Old enough to remember it all, I will propose a forth wave, which will take the form of personal financial responsibility addressing the way we value each other and the welfare of the entire planet. If you missed it in the upcoming book, I would be happy to provide suggested samples of how the only thing missing from the Peace and Love movement in the 60’s was a way to monetize it. Its coming.
My Guiding Principles in Bitcoin Cash
In my 68 years, being able to determine who is nasty and who is nice, has helped me through the roughest of times, and certainly enhanced the good times.
When I got involved with **Bitcoin** a little over 7 years ago, it was not always obvious to me who was nasty or nice. People who hid behind fictitious names were most often the nasty ones, however that was not always the determining factor, as some people who used their real names could certainly stand on their soapbox condemning those of perceived lesser intellect.
Still, for the most part, I had no trouble figuring out who to stay away from. But as time went on, some folks whom I considered friends began to develop nasty streaks, or maybe it just became more obvious their flaws were seriously impacting their relationships with me and others. Many of my early Bitcoin contacts, through my involvement with the Bitcoin Foundation, Counterparty, and the Let's Talk Bitcoin network turned out to be a little more nasty than I would have thought possible, but then I was naive. I had figured that people who knew what bitcoin was about all shared similar values. I could not have been more wrong.
In those heady days of 2013-14, there was a sense that we were all learning about the ***Joy of Bitcoin*** and exploring the best ways forward. A few oddballs wanted to post unrelated fodder to set up an argument, but for the most part they were ignored and moderated in the same way you might remove someone from your home who decided to break objects or strike out at family members. Some of my favourite people went on to become unreasonably argumentative and even fanatical in their opinions, to the detriment of any further civilized discussion. If you went looking for trouble on social media it was guaranteed they would be there to drag you into their conflicts. Not everyone was a "Reasonable Person".
The role I took on in those early days, was as a helper, mostly to assist people to understand each other and express their concepts in positive ways, by bridging some of the communication gaps. As I was explaining to a non-cryptocurrency friend the other day, my success rate in the past four years has been about 40% due to the volatile nature and misogynist attitude of people in the space. Before I got involved with software programmers in Bitcoin, a communications success rate below 80% was totally unacceptable for me and I certainly could not have worked with a group where clear communication was not of the highest priority. Times and standards change, but striving for 100% effective communcations is always the goal.
The internet world has changed a lot in the last 30 years, slowly and sometimes painfully ignoring the importance of interpersonal relationships. However, video conferencing came along at the right time with the potential to open positive communication again. We push forward to maximize the effectiveness of the tools at our disposal. When people become nasty they seldom try to communicate. They remind me of the stupid, poorly raised kid throwing rocks from the overpass at cars below. They lash out as **Anonymous Assholes** under the guise of ***"I was just trolling"*** or ***"I need my privacy"*** as if their type of nasty behaviour has value. It never does, and mostly I feel sorry for the shallow lives of those whose only purpose is to bully others from behind a mask. But as someone named Gump might have said, **"Nasty is as Nasty does"**, and even those using their real name can be toxic.
On the other hand, when I have noticed otherwise reasonable people spewing nonsense and attacking others, it has sometimes made sense to gather them into a Zoom call and see if a common ground can be determined. I have had the privilege of working with a lot of people who have something to offer and are interested in the success of Bitcoin, as a p2p cash. But an unfortunate pattern has developed where many people have the attitude of, **"I am not talking to him, because it just wont make it any better and besides, he is wrong and I am right."**
So I am reviewing my tool box and asking myself, "Where do I want to put my energy now, where I may be able to add value?" The video conferencing tools in Zoom are excellent and people who only want to fight can be easily identified and ignored.
You see enough of them in the everyday battle for control of the Bitcoin Cash Protocol. It is actually very easy to ignore them, if you don't hang out in their Social Media fortresses.
As I mentioned in my previous post, the time for building on Bitcoin Cash and SLP tokens is now. Find the people who are building interesting and forward thinking projects and offer to help them in any way you can. Stay positive, and ignore the assholes.
**Read.cash** is a great example of where you can put time and energy for a positive outcome. Many thanks to the team here who are putting **Bitcoin Cash** on the map.

Marc Andreessen recently posted a brilliant piece on his blog https://a16z.com/2020/04/18/its-time-to-build/ , about the urgency and importance of building both innovative infrastructure and creating options for the future that will reduce our limitations as *mere humans* (my words not his).
And not unlike the blame game going on in most Bitcoin Cash implementations, the finger pointing by those seeking power seems to never end, until recently. If you have payed attention, the drama queens have been frothing at the mouth in both public and private chats, on almost all BCH related social media.
Being anonymous provided the cowards the adrenalin rush, and those branding real names make sure their bullies had their back.
Fortunately, after 10 years of this nonsense in Bitcoin, the bullies are getting tired, easily distracted by the next "leader" that puts a "HEX" on the crowd. Any original thoughts these people had, have left the building as they return to mom's basement.
Meanwhile. the people doing the real work are winning, big time. I have watched them since the start of this journey, and they actually get things done - quietly and mostly behind the scenes. Sure you can taunt them with lies and innuendo, and the builder's might react, but in the end they keep on building.
Sometimes builders take a healthy break, maybe even work on something unrelated and then return fresh. They are not on Reddit, Twitter and Facebook. They are not pumping their egos. They just produce and in the end they are appreciated.
There are now more builders than there are bullies.
As difficult as 2020 has been so far, the world of Bitcoin Cash is about to blossom with the doers, who are the cornerstones of the projects building BCH protocol solutions, SLP token solutions and exciting applications. They adhere to the adage that **Personal Freedom** is about being your own bank, making your own decisions, and taking charge of how you will be valued and how you will value others.
Sadly, the bullies don't get that. They were either never taught how to behave, or they chose not to learn. You know who I am talking about, because you see them every day. Let's agree to ignore them and their misplaced intentions, their vindictive immaturity, and their cries for attention.
Let's raise a toast to the people designing, creating and staying focused on a better tomorrow for inexpensive, instant, peer-to-peer digital cash for the world. That's what I signed up for in 2013.
