What's the Cost of Being Famous?
Many people think that acting is an easy job. Just memorize it and use your hands to look more impressive. Everyone can do this, right? But in reality things are a little different. Acting requires professionalism, continuous improvement and sometimes real sacrifices.
Today I'm going to talk about the actors who were impressed by the roles they played.
Christian Bale
Ballet knows best what it means to change one's entire appearance for a role. The way he confronts difficulties with his body is mind-blowing. Every time he loses or gains weight quickly, he puts himself at risk. Very recently, the actor admitted that he was considering stopping doing this. Because he can't take it anymore and sometimes he states that he feels close to death. His transformations began with his first serious role. In 2000, he played the lead role in the movie American Psycho. For his role here, Bale needed to change his physical appearance perfectly, and he did. However, he had to lose a lot of weight for his next movie, Mechanist. In this movie, Bale's image resembled a skeleton and weighed only 54 kilograms. Let's remind you that Bale is 1.83 meters tall. The actor actually wanted to lose 10 more pounds, but the filmmakers told him not to stress his body so much. Because it was really dangerous. After this movie, Bale put his body under greater stress for his role in the movie Batman.
Daniel Radcliffe
Everyone knows him as Harry Potter, but being a world star also has an unseen side. He became famous at a very early age and this greatly affected his life. It is surprising that for many people, fame is such a heavy burden. It's not always nice to be noticed when walking down the street. You can't leave the house and walk to the market, you can't go out on a whim, you can't even think of not meeting someone on the way. After all, you will always meet someone who will want to take a photo. Adult players can usually deal with it, but it can be very difficult to deal with if you don't have enough experience. Daniel tried to find a solution to this problem by drinking heavily. He had no idea what to do after finishing the Harry Potter series, and according to him, the fastest way to forget about it was to get very drunk. Radcliff has been able to overcome these difficulties thanks to his family and friends and has been clean and acting in movies since 2010.
Joaquin Phoenix
His performance in the movie Joker was praised by both audiences and critics. They are testament to the many awards and laudatory reviews. But it took a lot of change to portray such a character. Just reading the script wasn't enough to become a crime king clown. The first thing he had to do was change his appearance. According to the director, it was supposed to be slim. So the actor had to lose 23 kilograms. It was understood that the effects of mental illness were particularly evident when losing weight rapidly. Phoenix faced an eating disorder illness. The actor sometimes had a hard time even climbing the stairs. He felt tired from his poor diet. Still, he did not give up on his goal. After reaching his goal, Phoenix was overjoyed. He started to feel different. He did not share details of his diet, but we do know that he is under medical supervision. It was their job to make sure that no serious damage could be done to the actor's body.
Linda Hamilton
The Terminator is one of the outstanding movie franchises and Sera Conner is a pivotal character in this movie. But few people know the effect this character had on Hamilton. There was a lot of noise on set while filming Terminator 2. Shots, explosions, etc. To protect their ears, the players used special earplugs, but during a break Linda took off the earplugs and forgot to put them back on. Unfortunately, this happened exactly before the elevator scene was filmed. Several shots were fired here in a narrow area. The noise caused Linda to feel terrible pain. The actress felt as if something had hit her, but no one noticed. Then it turned out that he had temporary hearing loss in one ear.
