The industrious Orphan Ade became an Orphan when he turned 11. He was only a few months old when his father died. And that means he never really knew who his father was unless from photographs of him hanging on the wall in the sitting room. His father was a soldier and was killed during the country's civil war. He fought on the government side. Ade's father joined the army when he was 18 and has been in service for 30years before the civil war. Although he joined the military as a private but was already a captain before he died in battle. He was the captain of the 4th Brigade, whose duty was to cut the enemy supply line from the eastern flanks. The enemy got so frustrated on a cold Tuesday morning after a heavy bombardment from the western axis. And their supply line was well blocked off. So, they decided to rain heavy fire on the 4th brigade with a barrage of short-range missiles. It was the strike from those missiles that caused shrapnel that Peirce through Ade's father's abdomen. But he didn't die immediately. He gave up after being rushed to the hospital and before treatment could be administered. Ade's father's marriage to his mom was only a year and a half and Ade was the first child of his parents. He is the only child too since he died after he was born. So, there is no hope of thinking of another baby to be born. Ade's mom was a nurse and works at a local government clinic. She took full responsibility for her son since the father died and after the father's gratuity was paid most of it went into Ade's education. But, other expenses on the home front were financed by her salaries. Ever since the father died his pension has not been paid. Sometimes Ade's mom would stay on the night shift. She goes to work with Ade when he was much younger but since he turned 10, his mom always leave him with their neighbor TUTU, especially during the night when he doesn't go to school and on holidays. On Ade's 11th birthday his mom woke up with a throbbing headache and a high fever. It got so severe that she couldn't leave her bed. Ade woke up calling out to mom but she didn't respond. He ran to his mom's bedroom and jumped on her bed as he does each morning when he wakes up before mom. But something was strange that morning. Mom didn't respond to his call and even when he jumped on her, she just kept still looking into the ceiling. After several attempts to get his mom to play with him, she still couldn't respond but moved her hands weakly. She pointed at the door trying to say something but couldn't say exactly. Ade looks lost and could not understand the strange happening to his mom. After observing he ran outside to call anty TUTU, the neighbor he is so used to staying at her place. He told her, "my mom is not talking". And quickly anty TUTU rush into Ade's house and to the mom's room. On reaching there she met her trying hard to speak but couldn't TUTU rushed to call her husband and both of them took her to the hospital. She had developed a stroke. And the days she spent at the hospital, Ade was cared for but TUTU. Only two days after she was admitted, she died. And Ade became an Orphan at that very young age of 11. While family relatives took the responsibility for the burial rites, nobody agreed to take responsibility for the son she left behind, and then he stayed with anty TUTU until he was 15. TUTU was a petty trader and her husband lost his job a few months before Ade's mom died. So, the main income of TUTU's Household could barely support her, her husband, and the 5 children they had plus Ade. They lived an austere lifestyle. But Ade's fees were still paid with the leftover of his dad's pension and those paid to his mom. Even while he had the funds labored for by his parents, he never settled for the luxury of what he hard. He worked hard like other children to finance his basic needs so he doesn't have to border anty TUTU. He sometimes gives her some money out of the pay he collects from his petty jobs. To be continued... Thanks for reading.

Moral decadence For a while now, I've been wondering about the level of decadence that our society is sinking to each day. I'm from a typical African society and as any familiar with this society of mine, you would understand and appreciate the diversity of culture that promotes morality in all aspects of life. You may have an opinion that Africans do not treat female folks quite well but it's all about perception. Of course, some cultures may be tortured by the demands it places on women but again, that is not the point of our discussion here. It is moral decadence and how our society has been victims and suffered due to the loss of moral values of men and women. Moral decadence covers everything from our dress sense to speech and behavior towards elders and our lifestyle and morals. To begin with the behavioral aspects toward elders, it has always been part of African culture to respect and give honor to the elderly ones. But due to so-called civilizations, the youth consider themselves wiser and often disrespect the elders. The youth are never willing to listen anymore as they used to in the past. And as result, they have become emboldened to carry out shameful acts without regard to the words of the elders. Another aspect that moral decadence has sunken society is the aspect of moral conduct. The society of Africa is on holds morality to the highest. And things like indecent dressing, rape, and pregnancy out of wedlock were something alien to African culture. But what we have today is just different. You have taken into drugs, alcohol, and youthful sexual engagement. The result of all these had led to high abortion rates, youthful drug addiction, and youthful mental issues. The decay of morals in society has brought new standards of values. Such values have continually seen past achievements erode. And sometimes one is poised to ask how did it all begin? How did society come to the sorry levels it is now? Did it all come all at once or it was gradual? In an attempt to give answers, one would realize that just like every other change, it all began slowly. It started with the people of Africa mixing up with other civilizations and cultures. And due to Inferiority complexes, they felt their own culture was less sophisticated and decided to embrace others' cultures. Decadence in morals may be seen as something modern but it had dented the image of the youth a great deal. It is shocking to often see that youths that are male find interest in becoming a female and cross-dressing are becoming a norm. Others who as far as modifying their original features just to fit into a particular gender that they prefer other than that they were born. Strange things too that were foreign to us are creeping into our lives. For instance homosexuality. It is absolutely strange but here we are today talking about it a good number of people in support of it. There are times it became so intense politically that Africans were threatened with aid seizure if they do not give in to homosexuality. But for moral brightness, men of honor stood their ground to reject such action that is never known to us. So, what could be the way out of this dilemma we have found ourselves in as a society. Do we continue to condone all these acts? Or should we find our way back to the normal as we used to know? What we have come to find ourselves is alien to us. And the earlier we start to trace ourselves back to the ways that have brought prosperity and honor, the better would be our future. Let me say congratulations on coming this far with us. And thank you for keeping it still until the end. See you in my next post. Bye-bye for now.

My journey through terrorist enclave. It is a beautiful Friday morning and a day to make that journey I have planned for days now. If I had not moved today, traveling on the weekends would have been difficult. I have postponed the journey until today and it is due to a couple of reasons. The first is that I needed funds for the journey and because transportation fare is hiked now, it means I would have to bring more money to the terminal before I would be taken aware. I'm traveling to my country's most dangerous places. A place where many won't even think of going. It is a place famous due to the activities of terrorists who came into the limelight from the 2014 schoolgirl's kidnap. The incidence sparkle outrage throughout the world. And it is that place I'm headed. The journey is 12hours long by road. The state is a terror-infested state where hundreds of thousands have lost their lives in the last 10-15 years now. And when traveling there extra caution is taken. Although there seems nothing to worry about due to the presence of the military everywhere. You won't be warned when it begins. So, just be ready for any eventuality. And that how most people conditions their minds on making the journey. Due to the length of time spent on the journey, the cars that convey passengers there usually leave very early as 4 am. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't make it much early and I missed all the buses. I had two options, and the first was to go back home so that I come out early the next day or to continue my journey yet but in a more uncomfortable situation. I took the second option and due to my lateness, I had to first take a journey to another state, to catch the late bus to my destination. I arrived at noon. And the last bus to my destination was not filled yet so we waited for 3hrs. We left on the journey to my destination at bought sunset. I know we are already late and because the gates to the state of destination would be closed by 6 pm, it means we would sleep on the road until the next morning. And at 10 pm we arrived at the gate but couldn't gain entry. The gates are usually closed to prevent vehicular movements because terrorists seize the dark moments of the night to carry out their dastardly acts to score a point. It would be my first time sleeping on the road while making the journey to this infested terrorist den. And I would say it is just not a nice experience at all. I'm exhausted, and hungry, and my eyes feel sleepy. I couldn't sleep while others were dozing off on the road. Even as I try to find sleep it just won't come. I became the watch eyes of those who sleep and to warn if I perceive any danger. The night passed and we continued the journey again from the previous day. The gates were opened at 7:30 am and we began the 165km left of our journey. Right in the car hungry without any sight of a thing to use as food. I had to endure the hunger until we run the length of 165km. At every point, we are checked by fiercely looking men in camo. It is the government forces looking out for any suspicious thing. We entered with strict checks. But here I'm I and arrived at my destination safe and hearty Thanks for reading guys

Corruption and election It would be another election year and as it is in my country, it is always tense. Although we know Corruption does exist everywhere but I think I have seen a full glare of it in my country. The election is coming up in 2023 and due to the disappointment that so many people felt of the previous government, they want to be sure they make a better choice. Ever since 2011, electioneering system have changed to put under control the issues of under age voting, multiple voting and the issues of impersonation or voter's identity theft. Before the change, politicians have had a field day, manipulating votes on all polling points and units and sometimes out of desperation would chase voter away and snatch the ballot to go do the thumb printing all by themselves. No system was there Initially to check the authenticity of a ballot paper. Rather, words of mouth are used and also reliance on withnesses. Yet also the withnesses are often bribed to manipulate the votes. It came a point in time where people refuses to go vote because they are sure their vote wont count. All through that time politics of money was played and people are paid by politicians in other to contests to get to elective positions. And what we ended up getting were hooks and crooks who paid their way through and turn positions of leadership to a family business. Thanks to the previous government who gave autonomy to the new Election chairman to galvanize the process and to almost bring a free and fair election. The chairman introduced a new electioneering system by removing most analogue method of voter verification to an automatic one. The card readers introduced means that every voter would have a voter ID that can only be for one person with their thumb print. This system removed most of the currupt practices that bedeviled the previous system. And for the first time, people have hope in the election process. But this have not stopped desperate politicians to keep finding ways to cheat the process. They have hired hackers to hacker in to the election commission's server. However, this has not gone really well for them because cyber security are always beefed at all election cyber networks. Then they turn to buying voter's conscience. As a way to make a voter vote for them they pay some fees after showing the politicians you're eligible and they will ask you to vote for them. That is, vote buying. The poverty in the land have made the pay so attractive that everybody wants to have a voter's card, not for a reason to change a leader but for the purpose of earning some paltry sum. Education is fast making people realize their future are more important than some good sums of of money. And this is of great importance to especially the younger generation. I've seen people rejecting bribes for their votes and this only signifies that indeed there is light at the end of the tunnel. Bad leadership affects everyone and the losses citizens get for electing bad leaders is such great that not even the sum paid to them can ever compensate. Even though Corruption have eating deep, there are still some not willing to be a tool to be used to cheat a process. We can stamp out Curruption and bring all those who perpetuate them to book no matter how highly placed they maybe. All it takes is a collective effort. It is about each and everyone saying I won't be a part of it. It is about citizens deciding what they really want. The best sacrifices that one could give to generation after us, is to give them a leadership that is concerned about them and direct every development towards their advantage. And it start by making a corruption free society.

A polygamous home There are so many argument about polygamy. While some society have a more simple view about it, others seem to abhor it. Whatever one talks about polygamy Sterms from the side of the divide they're from. Some who do not quite support polygamy openly are sometimes involved in polygamous relationships. And the often excuse you hear is; men are polygamous in nature. There are consequences in all polygamous relationships as well as there are advantages. But the advantage of one system of polygamy outweigh the other is some aspects and vise versa. Take Islam for instance. Its polygamy system allow a man to marry up to four at a time. And what sets it apart from other polygamous arrangements are the laws guiding it. And in Islam, the condition for marrying multiple wives is that they would be treated equally. And they have rights and obligation onto them from their husband which must be fulfilled. The advantage of the Islamic polygamous arrangements is that multiple woman have a husband. They have a fair opportunity to have their own children with their kids dad assuming full responsibility. The wives are entitled to fair share of their husbands wealth if death occurs. Another good side about such kind of polygamous relationships is that the spread of disease maybe be less when compared to meeting random partners. But the negatives of the Islamic system polygamy is that lots of children are likely to be produced and that could set economic pressure on the a household especially if the source of income/revenue do no measure to the rate at which the population increases in the family. Such a system encourages less investment as most investible resources goes into the basic needs of the population within the family. And by extension may encourage poverty if not adequately managed. However, individuals who do not quite support polygamy, some of them engage in polygamous relationships. Other than their legal spouses, they have side cucumbines whom they go to meet at arranged places. Some may have multiple and for a fact that they know their act seem hidden from the public eyes gives the boldness to enjoy such relationships without the knowledge of their legal spouses. There are also advantages and disadvantages to this. But on the advantage side, they have no much worries about increase in population as the occurences of a baby may let open their secretes. So those involved would do everything to conceal it. The legal spouse would enjoy her place without the worries of thinking she's not the only one in her husband's house. So the feeling of being queen is there. The negative side of this kind of polygamous arrangements which is not Islamic is that the rate of pregnancy abortions are high. Disease rate are high too and the legal spouse have a higher chance of being infected. Revenue that should go into adequate welfare of the home are slashed significantly to care for the extra partners not known to the wife. And the possibility of conflicts may arise when in the husband's demise in terms of claims from the unknown partner. If the husband do not adequately manage the resources on the home front, and investment there high chances of sinking into a level of poverty. There are saying that men are polygamous in nature but there have been no scientific way to find that out yet. However, studying the social relationships of other animals makes that assertion seem true. But for me, I believe self decipline rules it all. Whatever side of ideology we may support as it has to do with polygamy, we must understand the merits and demerits involved.

My encounter with a trouble maker It is always easy for one to always mind their business until something, someone makes you lose your cool. I wake up this beautiful Monday morning after setting my schedule from the previous days. My objective for Monday is to go over to the site site to collect data. As the data would be used in processing the loan needed for the project to be carried out. On reaching the site very early in the morning, I found no one there not even the supervisor in charge of of the whole operation. I had to skip breakfast so as to be there as early as would get the data all set because another process depends on it. So, it's a huge responsibility on my shoulder and I'm just looking forward to deliver top-notch job as would allow for a smoother process. Unfortunately for me, I had had to wait for 3 chilling hour's before I sited the first worker. He treated each other. And again he was out of site. The day was becoming brighter with the yellow sun burning hot from the east to warm the atmosphere and soon I felt warmer than I was some hours ago. My stomach began to squick out of my insistent that I would come here earlier and skipping a breakfast meal. Thank goodness the roadside food vendor have arrived and setting up her place. I was damn hungry. At least the hunger I felt distracted me from my anger towards the situation I found myself. And a soon as the vendor was done setting up, I walked briskly to her place and asked what she sells. She told me all she have and I made my other. After been served, I ate but was barely ok. I just have to hold it up, at least I've brought down the level of hunger. Soon after eating, I over heard a voice calling out names. And yelling that they hurry up. I was setting to rest awhile after the meal before going back the the site. And as I felt some renewed energy I stood up and went back. On reaching there I met the supervisor. He was the one yelling at the workers. I told him I'd been there waiting for him much earlier. He apologized for his lateness and told me he went to get some documentations done. And without wasting any more time I brought out my tools and get to the work of. And before 3pm I have collected the data . It is now left to focus on computer modeling for what we want. On my way home, I boarded the city metro like I did earlier in the morning. Due to my tiredness, and walking weakly through the metro, I stepped on a woman. I say sorry on realizing. She didn't alter a word either. So, I took it as she's acceptable my apologies. On get down at the metro station she hurriedly came down and go around looking for something. She came right back with a plank in her hands and slammed me on my leg, when coming down from the metro. People around were shocked and scared if she's gone mad or something. But I kept my cool. As though the first slammed on my leg wasn't enough, she came in for another hit after realizing I was not hurt. Security had to Wade in to arrest the situation quickly but when they tried to restrain her, she smacked a plank on the personals face with blood gushing. She was not remorseful even so. And coming for a third. At that point I realized the woman was a clear trouble maker. The police was called and she was arrested. I left for my house and the wounded personal was attended to. I also learnt she would be sued and probably get fined are short term jail them. However, there are rumors about her mental stability. But I think the officers in charged would give a proper evaluation to her problem.

Twist of Fate Dan grew up in a small village where education was for a selected few. Having formal education was a luxury that hardly any parent could afford in that village. It was an election year and unlike many politicians who came canvassing for votes and making all manner of promises to the population, Dan's village was privileged to be featuring one of its own in the race for the presidency. Luno Albert is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Diok Albert. Although Luno's parents were from Dan's village. He was born and bred in Scotland. He acquired his education there and had a degree in political economics and a master's in business administration. Luno is a brilliant young man like his father. And a carbon copy of his dad. Dan's village had been so remote that they saw electricity since it existed. Generations have passed and hardly do the inhabitants realize civilization exists outside their hamlet. It took Luno's father, hard work, kindness, and sheer determination to move out of his village to the city and then Scotland. On a good day, while Luno's father was hunting in the forest, he stumbled upon a man in a pool of blood lying almost lifeless and quickly rush to his aid. The man's arms were tied behind and bounded with his legs using ropes. Luno's father used the dagger in his right pocket to cut the ropes and took the half-dead man home. Without asking, his mother rushes to get hot water and some herbs. She ordered her son to get the dry rag on the line outside and without hesitating, he jump off from the kneeling position he was to collect the rag in a dash and returned to his mother with it. Both of them worked frantically until they wiped out all the bloodstains and stabilized the man. After several hours of resting, he woke up but was still unconscious. Mama held him gently and placed his head back on the wooden pillow when he woke up in freight. He rested again for several more hours while mama got busy making the dishes in the bamboo kitchen with the few kills from her son's hunting. And her son was busy outside splitting the firewood. Before the meal got ready the man is now fully woke and conscious of his environment. On realizing it, mama moved closer to him but he retreated with fear in his eyes. Mama's son who later became Luno's father came into the thatched house and into the room where mama and the man were both standing and seated respectively, watching each other. His entrance broke mama's stare but not the man's. Mama quickly rushed to the kitchen to get the food and served them. They sat close to him to eat. Even though the man refused to eat at first, he soon joined them and ate hastily. He finished the bowl of food and wanted more but didn't say. Mama rushed to bring more food and he ate but this time moderately. He still wouldn't alter a word after he was told how they found him. Staring blankly in the air he soon went to bed and slept off. And everyone went on to sleep. The next morning, the man could remember all that had happened to him before he was found lying in a pool of his blood almost giving up on life. He narrated all he's been through to mama and her son. The man is a businessman and a politician and owns one of the largest steel plants in the country. But due to the political rivalry in the contest for the national chairmanship of his party and when some of his rivals have seen that his chances of winning were coming to a reality they paid assassins to get him kidnapped and killed. But unfortunately for the assassins, they thought he was dead. Hey guys, I know you wanna see the end of this, but be on the lookout for part 2 of this story. Thanks for reading.

Does Hell Exist? Ever growing up as a child and born into a religious home, we were meant to understand that when we do things against God's commandments then hell is our destination. It kept me wondering of late if this is true. I have tried for many years to understand the concept of hell itself but it seems each time one tries to push further to find out, the more you find yourself into the age-old fairy tale about heavens, paradise, and hell. Religious leaders have made it a point to get lots of people intimidated because when they hear the words hell and all that is been said of it, they become submissive at once. Before now rulers of old also used the fear of hell to harras and intimidate people to either become subservient or to remain in perpetual fear forever. But what is most troubling is the fact that basic human rights are constantly abused in such a society. People get to leave with the borders of these hell pronouncements. I'm not against religion so don't get me wrong. And whether or not I believe hell exists is not the question. But I'm putting a question to you if hell does exist. So, what would your answer be, a yes, or a no? Hell has been depicted in scary manner humans would be burnt relentlessly without mercy for the wrongs they have committed in their earthly life. But all these continue to remain a fantasy as nobody since all those scary stories are lamented is seen hell. It is only spoken about. For hundreds of thousands of years, people died and many are dying yet. None have been to hell yet. Does this hell really exists or a fantasy or fiction that is told in stories? The description of hell seems to be like a scorching nuclear sun. One can only imagine what that could mean. Just imagine a person thrown into the sun. It remains an imagination as nothing would be left of such a person within seconds. So many religions seem to be obsessed with life after death and often worry that the caste of fire is a dreaded punishment. But again, they have different stories about the chastisement offenders would receive. Some described it more harshly and others milder. And they all have different reactions which they evoke in their audiences. The consequences of this kind of teaching can be seen in the ways people behave towards things and their general lifestyle. Those whose orientation about hell is mild tend to be much more open to the life of being less conservative. But those who are orientation about hell are harsher and are more conservative. And yet also the kind of orient people have affects their economic situation. That is why we often see conservative people having less successful living standards compared to those that are liberal. The liberal one embraces much more open ideas. Since hell is been preached or talked about there has never been any visible evidence to back up its existence. All everyone knows is but assumption and imagination. There are reported stories about how Africa was colonized using this same ideology. The fear of hell syndrome hoodwinked the population into being loyal to their systemic occupation until the whole continent was taken over. And words like " they gave us the bible and thought us to pray with eyes close, before opening them, they have the land and we have the bible" are evident if religious manipulation and the pronouncement of hell are used to keep the followers loyal. But, if hell really exists as it is wanted to be believed, who has been there, how does it look, what's is fuel? All these questions and more demands real answers and not just the kinds of fairytales we are used to.

What you must know as a writer Hello guys, it's so good to join you all on this platform. It is my first published article on read.cash and I intend to leave a footprint here. The topic I choose to begin with is what you must know as a writer. Have you paused for a moment to ask yourself what is it that you must know before punching your keyboard to type words? Like art writing is a task that requires planning, analyzing, and visualizing. Often the recurring mistake that most writers fall into is that they just start to write even though they don't know the direction of what they are writing about. Such an article becomes extended that conclusion becomes pretty difficult. Or it may even fall short of where the conclusion should fall. The consequence of this is, that it becomes really difficult for readers or the audience to lay grasp the idea being talked about. Reading an article that one hardly could grasp just what the idea or the point of discussion is about could be burdensome. Sadly, it kills readers' spirit to want to hit on your next article even though it may make better sense than the previous. Let's say you are into the business of writing and your pay is determined by the number of people that clicks. How much would you have lost if no one wants to click on your article to read? As a writer, your mind must feel, perceive and think like an artist. Artist uses their imagination to a great limit to bring about an end product that is appreciated by many. And the mind is a writer's most potent tool. Again, how many of you put the limit of your minds to a great depth of thinking? Maybe not so many but when you find one who's put their mind brilliantly to a piece of writing, you find the difference is clear from one who just horridly put some pieces together. Now, let's find out the things a writer must know: Having clear thought about what to write; one must never be in a hurry to publish an article. Take your time and think clearly about what you want to write about. Ask yourself, why do I want to write about such? The answer you were able to arrive at would determine your zeal towards that task. You write because you have a passion for it; it is true everyone writes but it is also important to note that not everyone who writes can compose a meaningful article. You can say some are born writers but I believe with constant practice you can be good at what you do. Passion for what you wish to achieve is very important to get your writing goal to where it should be. Know your audience; this is yet another very important point to note. Your audience must be the central point for your article formation. They are the reason for which you are writing in the first place. And it is still them that would read it. So write for them in a way that it is easy to grasp the content and also quell their curiosity Following the laid down rules of the platform; they said obeying rules would keep you in the good books of those who place them. After all the rules are made to keep processes smoother and optimize whatever it is you writing. You can only succeed by keeping strictly by the rule because it helps you to bring your creativity out and show you to a larger audience. Take a good rest when tired; writing could be tedious. To write one needs to think and present their ideas in a comprehensible way. And the process of thinking can be energy draining. When you feel you're getting tired it means your energy level is sapping. Take a rest, have yourself a drink and you can come back to writing when you're well-rested. Now you would be fresh in ideas and everything you seem to be writing would fall in line. These are the things you should know as a writer.
