Unusual Kids
Incredible Beginnings
Childhood is a period when you are unaware of the heavy burden of your life and we seek joy in all our innocence. However, some may not have a childhood like everyone else.
Abby and Erin Delaney
There is a greater bond between twins than we think. However, twins like Abby and Erin are physically connected in some rare cases. These beautiful conjoined twins were born with the tops of their heads fused together. Conjoined twins like this usually start out as a single fertilized egg. However, if the egg partially divides and then fuses again, it develops as 2 attached fetuses. This condition occurs in every 50,000 to 100,000 births. But less than 2% of cases involve fusion of the heads. On the other hand, these twins not only shared the top of their skulls, they also shared an important brain vessel. This meant that leaving would be risky. But after 11 hours of surgery and intensive treatment, everything worked out. So much so that these two smart little girls, who are separated from each other today, are quite happy.
Mahendra Ahirwar
If you were to see the world from Mahendra's point of view, your life would be turned upside down. She was a young boy suffering from congenital myopathy. Congenital myopathy affects about one in 25000 people. So this is not an uncommon occurrence. However, from an extreme variation, the muscles in his neck were so weak that he lacked the strength to lift his head, causing his head to hang at a 180 degree angle. The condition also spread to his arms and legs. So the boy couldn't walk and because he was too light his family had no choice but to carry him in a basket. However, he underwent surgery to place a small metal rod on his neck in 2016 to improve his quality of life. Which eventually helped him see the world flat but sadly Mahindra passed away just 8 months later. This is truly a story that can change one's perspective.
Virsaviya Borun
The heart of 10-year-old Virsaviya Borun is located outside of her chest. He has a congenital defect that can affect the development of his sternum, diaphragm, heart, or abdominal wall. But this little girl was born with one of the most extreme forms of the condition in which her heart formed outside the chest wall. Her heart was not nearly completely open and was only covered by a thin layer of skin. This layer is so thin that even the heartbeat can be seen. This condition is incredibly rare, affecting only about 5.5% of every 1 million live births. In addition, the condition is often fatal, with only 5% of affected newborns surviving. However, Virsaviya survived against all odds and shocked everyone. However, due to the complexity of Virsaviya's situation, doctors are currently unable to perform any surgery. However, this does not prevent this brave little girl from living her life to the fullest.
Jaxon Buell
It takes serious willpower to survive after losing a part of your body. For example, Jackson was born with a serious brain anomaly. The baby's brain stopped developing in the first weeks of pregnancy. This is an extremely rare inherited condition that affects less than one child in a million and unfortunately has no cure. When Jackson was born, he had lost about 80% of the brain he should have had. Doctors initially told his parents that the child probably wouldn't be able to see, hear, or speak. Because the areas of the brain that control these processes were thought to be missing. But despite these odds, Jackson could do all of this, albeit in a limited capacity. It turns out that these parts of his brain we're talking about were present. He could only do these on a much smaller scale. While enjoying a happy life filled with love and support, Jackson sadly passed away at the age of 5 in early 2020. However, this boy was able to challenge his doctors at every step of the way.
You see how hard life can be, right? Some people are born unlucky. That's why we should stop complaining and appreciate life, even though we have difficulties.
