She Speaks Three Languages Who is she? Ah, just my daughter. At a young age, she can speak three languages which are English, Filipino/Tagalog, and Visayan. I remember at the age of two years old she can speak fluently already, as she's a clever and witty kid. She's turning 4 years old on October soon.
There are reasons why she can speak and understand those three languages, it's based on how I raised and how we talked to her. I find it awesome that at her young age she already knows how to speak and understand three languages because usually kids only speak the language they used in their homes.
How did she learn the three languages? In the house, we speak Visayan, but right now she usually speaks English. If she speaks English I'll try my best to respond in English as well so she'll get used to it, I mean get used to communicating using the universal language as it has a lot of advantages knowing it. She learned the Filipino/Tagalog language because we talked to her about with it I gave birth to her in Manila in Alabang Muntinlupa to be exact. I stayed in Manila for almost 6 years because I worked there. My partner also stayed with his siblings when he was waiting for his apprenticeship and line up for onboarding. Although we still speak Visayan in the house, we also get used to speaking Tagalog because of the kids (my partner's nephew) who grew up there and cannot understand Visayan. We used to speak to her in Tagalog when she was still a baby because we were in Manila. She learned Visayan when we go back home to the province (his dad house) When she was 9 months old we travel back to the province, her dad's place which is our current location. In here we speak Visayan fluently. Visayan people find it awkward to speak Tagalog, it's like an OA language to us but since me and my partner get used to speaking Tagalog to our daughter we still talk to her with it. As my daughter grows up, she learned and understands Visayan because of the people around us which are her grannies, aunties, uncle, and cousins. She still understands Tagalog and speaks some of it, because until now I still talk to her in Tagalog. I dunno I just get used to it with her but I find it useful as she won't forget our national language. She speaks English with the influence of YouTube The positive thing that this Youtube influenced in my daughter is the English language. I can speak English, I can teach her but I find it awkward to speak in English because I am not used to it. Good thing this Youtube influenced her, I don't have to teach her manually the English one by one. If she doesn't know the English word of a certain thing that's the time I'll teach her. I let her watch English Youtube videos and not other languages so she can learn and adopt them. As of now she's speaking these three languages but mostly right now it's English and I find it good as it has the advantage to speak English so she'll not have a hard time coping up when she started studying.
Closing Thoughts This article was inspired by the prompt given by @JonicaBradley “language”, I like the prompt as I got the idea to write about my daughter being multilingual at a young age. I hope when she grows up she'll learn more languages. It's cool to learn different languages, you can communicate better with those people who speak the language you learn. That is amazing! Certainly it is a benefit to speak different languages. My little one speaks Hungarian and English since I am Hungarian and we live in England. If your daughter and my daughter want to learn more languages in the future it will be easier for them to learn.
Yes, it's really amazing how their generation now can easily learn more languages. Cheers to our amazing daughters!
This is like a plus to her anywhere she goes because people would be amazed and would come to like such person. For someone to be multilingual takes full concentration and knowledge to understand those Languages. Good luck to her too.
Yeah, thanks. I was happy she learned it at her young age..
Yieeee napaka galing 💗 ambilis nya agad natutunan yung English language.
They say, people who generally speak multiple languages are very smart and creative. Sounds like your kid is one of them :)
Thanks, yeah she's kinda smart. She can understand things easily, maybe this kids generation are smarter than ours.
Eyyyy, your child is smart I'm 20 yet can't speak visayan dialect hahaha. She must be God. Kidding aside. But seriously she's smart it actually depends on how her parents gonna race her. Means you're a great parents. Im also planning when I got a child Im gonna first teach him english language then tagalog next.
My child knows tagalog first then visayan before english, because if she learn english first she'll probably don't learn the two languages, kasi usually ganyan nangyayari pag ang bata sanay sa English agad mahirapan na makaintindi nang local dialect.
Every language learned means a new person.
The environment really contributes greatly to the language of a child. I am glad your child can speak English and the other two languages at the same time.
4 years old na po eh.
Ay very good ah. Sanaol.
Very good naman ni bebe gurl. Bravo! Same kayo ng anak ko. English, Tagalog, Ilokano naman hehe. Pero English talaga first language nya :)
Oo kasi afam papang nya haha.
ahaha uu sis :D pero dito lumaki. nakakatuwa nga silang pakinggan lalo yung local dialect no?
Oo kasi gusto nila yung ginagaya nila kaysa turuan😅
Oo, parang pressured din kasi sila pag turuan sila.
Hahaha kaya nga ,😂
Naku baka mas magaling pa sakin mag engols yan naku talaga.
Wow what smart kid...baka nga mas magaling pa siyang mag english kaysa sa akin hehe
Hahaha di nmn siguro ,😂
My daughter used to speak Visayan but now mostly English dahil sa YT.
I totally agree! Yung eldest ko nung nag jollibee mini manager sya nahirapan syang makipaglaro kasi di nya alam yung mga Tagalog na kanta.
I'm amazed wow. Sana all hehez char.
Oo kausapin mo sa sarili nyong language din wag e baby talk while the baby is on stage learning how to speak
Children's learning capacity is really amazing, even if you teach them five or more languages they will learn it. I'm fascinated and I find kids who knows a few languages really cute. There's a Korean variety show I've been watching because of a five year old girl who speak 4 languages - Korean, Spanish, English and German. And she's fluent in all those languages! 😍 If there's one reason I would want to have a child, that is to be able to teach them a lot of things that I could be proud of, and teaching my child different languages is one of those. Kudos to you for raising a smart kid.
Yes, today's generation of kids are way smarter than late generation they can easily adopt and understand things digitally. Yeah I want her to learn more languages soon when she grows up, I don't pressure her learnings as well. Thank you ☺️
It's impressive that she can speak fluently in 3 languages at her age. Hngh this prompt gave me an idea of my struggles in communicating with different people of different dialects/languages.
Yes I agree with Ellen, I never baby talked with her when she was still learning how to speak that's why she can speak right away fluently at her young age. Sure just write about the prompt its fun.
Wow I'm so proud of your daughter po.
Well, naimpluwensyahan ni YT eh.
Your daughter is amazing. There are only few kinds who can speak as early as the age of four let alone three languages.
Thanks, yeah that's why I am happy she can speak and understand the three language.
