In the blogging industry, you don't have to be a bachelor's degree holder. You don't need higher education as long as you know how to be competitive. Writing is a “skill” and skills can be learned, the blogging platform will not going to ask about your educational background as long as you can compete with the majority of famous bloggers.
As for me, I didn't finish my degree, I am an undergraduate due to many reasons but I know I can compete with others as long as I will do my best to learn and apply what I learned. I don't have to be a genius as well, as long as I understand what I am trying to deliver to my readers.
How to be competitive in the blogging industry?
Before you sulk yourself into a certain platform where you wanted to explore, you should learn first the basics, how other writers succeed in blogging, and never think about earnings first, disregard that thought because you'll never learn if you don't undergo the process.
Build your name first
To have followers you should learn to build your name first, what are you going to portray in front of your readers?
Are you going to be the “joker?”, some people think that writing just for fun is not a niche, I can tell you who have this niche, it's @Ruffa although some are thinking that she's not competitive, I bet they are wrong, not anyone can make their readers laugh almost whenever she published an article.
Are you going to be a “life experiences” blogger? These bloggers are competitive enough to portray themselves in front of their readers and I bet some didn't recognize it, I'll give you an example of who has this niche it's @Yen. Oftentimes she keeps telling us or others that she just write an “eme-eme” article, but I call it niche because not everyone is “open-minded” enough to share her experience in life may it be bad or good.
Are you going to be excellent enough? Or someone who can build their names through simple writings.
Build camaraderie
To survive in the blogging industry try, you have to connect with the people around that ecosystem. You just cannot post and run, then wait for the tips. No that's not gonna work my friend.
Connect to your readers and be a reader as well, that's how the ecosystem works. It doesn't give you favor when you cannot give favor as well. In science, we call it a “symbiotic relationship”, give and take. Give supports to others and take supports from others as well.
You cannot expect support when you cannot give it in the first place. The universe will not side you and showered you “luck”, the blogging industry does not work based on luck, it works based on your hard works and determination.
Learn from others and apply it
Even those self-proclaimed authors undergo this process, even if they have their blogging site when they come to a blogging platform that has a worldwide audience they have to jive with the flow before they can flaunt their excellent way of writing.
I'll give you an example, @PVMihalacheis well known in Publish0x but it takes time for him to show off what he got in reading. cash and undergo the process before he gained followers.
If you are a newbie and do not know anything yet, you have to spend time learning from others and apply it once you are confident enough to write. You cannot just write and write what you like if you don't build your name at first.
Just be yourself
The best way to conquer the world is to be competitive using your image and not shadowing others. You have to be real with your opinions and be real to accept criticism as well.
Being ourselves will be easier to act in front of others, as you don't have to mind if you do it wrong or not.
Do not write something that you are not sure off, and do “paraphrase” because you know, you might be targeted with a “panther” lol. Haha, you know what I am talking about 😂
Be humble
Whatever you achieve in the platform always put your feet on the ground, be humble, and don't boast what you've got because you cannot achieve all of it by yourselves alone. Your readers are part of it, without them you are nothing.
Last but not least “Don't plagiarize”
Plagiarism is an immoral act, copying the intellect of others and assumed it as your own. If you are writing research-based to make sure you know a little bit about it and always cite the source to give credits that you got the idea from it. Write what you understand from the source and do not paraphrase, you know it's big deal lol.
You know “panther” is looking at you 👀 lol. He might scan your article in plagiarism checker and he'll be gone mad again, and accused all of “us” Filipino as trolls, plagiarisers, and a circle of jerks. Please don't copy articles from the net.
Closing Thoughts
Be competitive without cheating because like Pantera said “You'll never gonna make it anywhere” not sure if that's the line but yeah the thoughts are like that.
Above all just be yourself, being original is worth more than being a copycat.
Thank you for reading!
