How To Write Better Content?
Writing is an art and a talent, not everyone can write. But it can be learned if you want to pursue it. Some just cultivated their writing abilities through blogging platforms without knowing the proper formatting of their content.
Writing better content has a format that makes it readable making the readers read until the end. If you want to know how to make your content better, you must know the format I'm about to share in this blog.
Ways to format your content better;
Use short sentences & simple words or terms
Use short paragraphs
Use subheadings (h1, h2, h3 & more)
Use bullets points
Use number list
Attach photos for good visualization
These are the format you have to follow in making your content better. It appears readable and looks professional on the reader's end.
Use short sentences & simple words or terms
Some writers write their content with long sentences. It makes the readers lose their interest in reading further. You must use short sentences with a concise information you want to convey.
Don't use jargon terms and use simple words instead. It makes your reader understand your content easily. Some thought using deep words and jargon are cool, well it's not. It makes your content hard to understand.
Use 10-20 words only in one sentence. Using more than 20 words in a sentence makes it hard for the readers to absorb the information. Use words that are concise to your sentence without being redundant. Just look at this blog, you can count my words in one sentence, and it doesn't exceed 20 words.
Use Short paragraphs
Don't write your content in long paragraphs, it makes your content looks boring. Just try reading content that has long paragraphs, it hurts your eyes. Aside from hurting your reader's eyes, it also tires them to read long paragraphs.
Use 3-5 sentences only in one paragraph. If you have so much to say, make it 5 sentences only and then make a new paragraph instead. Just look at this blog, my paragraph consists of 3-5 sentences only. This will make your content looks pleasing in the eyes of the reader.
Use subheadings (h1, h2, h3 & more)
Use subheadings that are the h1 & h2 you see in the editor's choices. This will make your topic groupings. It will help the readers identify that they are reading another subtopic.
Just look at the example provided above. You can identify that you are reading the “Use short sentences & simple words or terms” sub-topic. It will also make your topic looks organized.
This helps the reader understand your topic in general as you presented your content in an organized way. They don't have to go through text by text just to take note of the important details. You make it simple, readable, and can be understood clearly.
Use bullets points
Use bullet points to break down the very important details or components that the readers must take note of. Some professional writers make this part “Keynotes or Key Takeaways, etc.” It will make the readers preframed their minds on what your content is all about. Or if you are enumerating important details such as specs, benefits, or features on a specific thing.
The Bullet list does not follow orders. You can enumerate things without any order. It does not instruct readers what to do first.
Use number list
Unlike the bullet list, a number list must be used to explain a process, rank items in order, and create a list of action items. Just look at the example image above, the list is written in order. You can't apply Lip Balm if you didn't wash your face yet using a cleanser.
A number list is a specific listing or enumerating of process, items, or an action that is done by order. You must take note of that so your readers will understand, especially if you are making guides.
Attache photos for good visualization
When you read something your mind starts imagining things you are reading. Attaching photos related to the content you are writing helps readers understand what you are trying to say. They visualize your content very well when they see photos. They don't have a hard time imagining things anymore.
Photos can guide readers well especially if you are creating a content guide. It's easier to follow guides by seeing photos or watching videos than just reading plain texts.
Closing Remarks
Learning how to write your content better shows that you want to upgrade your writing skills to the next level. That is the format of how to write your content better. You can practice those ways so you will write your content better instead of boring ones.
You can also use that in the future if you want to pursue a freelancing business.
