Nursing Gastric Dilation "Bloat" In My Animals- feeling vet for today.
In today's blog, I will become a farm veterinarian. Any abrupt changes in the visual appearance of your animals are considered a red flag. When your dog doesn't eat in the time as regular he had when your cat just lay down and even you called for food didn't come forward, when your feathered pet didn't even touch the feeds, it's all about red flags, you should look in it to avoid the more severe problem. Same with livestock, within my experience. My rabbit changed his behavior in just a day passed. That could be alarming if we don't know what to do might lead to our animal's death ending.
I was overwhelmed as a student in college when one of my teachers, who was a real veterinarian, called me to accompany him to the sheep farm as one was critically ill. That was an imported buck which was a significant loss if never entertained.
How can you when you get old? Honestly, I am not the type of guy who loves to work in the office. I might work for a time, but I don't see myself growing old typing reports. I enjoy life on a farm, taking care of my animals and plants, away from the stressful city, stays in the silent paradise near the rolling hills. That's what my dreams are, and I enjoy what I am doing. I liked to attain that my animals need to be taken care of with medicines and much need to receive the injections.
Unlike many others, who dreamed of city life, mine never wished to have it.
Nursing rabbit with gastro dilation:
Gastro dilation or sometimes bloating of the stomach often occurs because of infections. In dogs, primarily puppies, this is somehow a problem. In rabbits, things worsen if they are never cured quickly or attain the proper procedures promptly.
Causes of bloating in the rabbit:
Feeding- This is when your rabbit overeats, especially when you are feeding commercial feeds or you feed them with fresh leaves with high water content. Some reason is that grass given was unclean or soaked in dirty water.
Water- overdrinking and under drinking also cause the bloat.
Stress: environmental stress, such as high temperature and the size of the cage, over his requirement. Some factors are also the direct alignment of the sun to the animals.
Infections- occur when parasitic organisms are from inside his stomach.
Bloated causes the stay just in a position, never touch his food, and never drink his water, the animal's stomach becomes bigger and feels like the air is inside his belly. A severe problem next might cause dehydration and starvation, which possibly causes death.
How to cure gastro dilation?
There was no cure yet that will guarantee you a hundred percent success. All we could do is a remedy and let the luck decides the faith. Why do I say luck by faith? Because we don't know what causes the bloated is, if the feeding, water, or stress added the micro-organism infections. So the right thing to do is to address all the possible problems.
Medicinal drug- we talked about livestock here; it's much more different from the pets. I used 250grams of PHENOXYMETHYL; this drug is commonly used for livestock having internal infections. As we much address the "infections" as one of the causes. It's originally 500 grams, but I cut it to make it 250 grams and give the drug once every morning.
*Of course, you can't just feed the drug directly to his mouth; the animal could bite you, foil it with the leaves, and let him eat the leaf with the drug.
Dextrose- to address the "Feeding and water" as one of the factors. I gave a potent dextrose powder diluted in clean water so even if the animals didn't eat, their body still could have the right amount of energy the body needs. As for me, I force to feed the animal with concentrated goat milk and half a teaspoon of dextrose powder. Rabbit loved to be provided with a liquid solution.
Bring him to non-stress surroundings to address the "stress' as a factor.
Partial result:
Bloated causes his digestive track not to release his waste; on the second day of nursing my rabbit, the wreckage was a liquid and purely as wastewater; on the third day, which was now, the waste became solid. In the bloat condition in his stomach, the gastric infection diminished after 10 hrs of giving him PHENOXYMETHYL. He is still under closure observations.
As I said, I wanted to experience everything before I purchased my purebreds and hybrids. In conclusion, I suggest and highly regard that more examinations and actual research must be personally provided to address and prevent mortality in my future business farm. This article is firstly a personal journal and decided to be published here. Thanks for being with me.
