Today I want to give you a recipe that is very easy to prepare and will not disturb your stomach at the same time. This is actually a snack plate. Here, we prepare this meal not to fill our stomachs, but to serve it with tea or coffee at friends' meetings.
Our dish is called Lentil Meatballs.
Before I start explaining how to prepare lentil meatballs, I would like to give a list of the necessary ingredients.
A list of materials:
2 large cups of red lentils
5 large glasses of water
1 posy parsley
5 fresh green onions
1.5 large glasses of fine bulgur
Ingredients Required for the Sauce:
2 small onions
5 tablespoons of oil
1 tablespoon of tomato paste
1 tablespoon of chili paste
1 large glass of water
Salt
Cumin
Black pepper
chili pepper
1 lemon
Now let's move on to the preparation of lentil meatballs
The first thing we need to do is to boil 5 glasses of water in a saucepan. After the water boils, we boil the red lentils in water. While the lentils are boiled, the water in the pot will gradually evaporate. When 2/3 of the water evaporates, we take the pot from the stove. We add the fine bulgur in our hand to the pot containing the lentils and some water and close the lid of the pot. The lentils and fine bulgur in the pot will stand for 15 minutes and they will absorb the remaining water.
Next, we finely chop the green onions and parsley in the same way as we do when making salads. We will use the chopped vegetables for the meatballs.
Now, we chop the onions that we reserved for the sauce of the meatballs into small cubes. Next, we put 5 tablespoons of oil in a frying pan and heat it a little, then fry the onions, which we cut into cubes, in oil until they turn pink. When the onions are browned, we add tomato and pepper paste and other spices on the list little by little and cook them all together for a short time. Don't forget to add salt and lemon juice. While cooking this mixture, we need to put a glass of water in it.
Now, we mix this sauce we have prepared with the green onions and parsley that we chopped before, together with the lentils and fine bulgur in the pot.
Here we are at a point where we have to work with our hands. What we need to do is to mix all the ingredients by crushing them with the palms of both hands. All the ingredients in the pot need to be combined with each other. This process may take up to 10 minutes. You don't have to do this mixing in the pot. You can do it in a wider container.
Once the materials are fused, there is one last thing we need to do. That process is to take some of the mixture into our palms, squeeze and shape. You can arrange the shaped meatballs on a large plate and garnish with lemon and parsley. It might look better if you put lettuce under the plate.
Also, lentil meatballs usually taste better when eaten with lettuce and lemon.
