Hello there! I'm a newbie here, not an expert writer just a fond of writing. So for my first article i wanted to share my point of view on how this pandemic strikes our academic aspect.
We cannot deny the fact that no one had been saved from the effect of the pandemic , we've been all affected, all of the sectors of the society have been striked which is continuing to affect our life up until now, and one of the biggest aspect that was affected a lot is the education of todays' generation.
Nowadays, if you have the tools and access on our so called "high-tech environment" you may continue pursuing your education, if you dont have you may still, but the difficulties would give you the guts and doubts, some were tend to be helpless. Thus, would this new learning method will really be effective? Are the different schools could produce competent graduates?
If you are a student today, its either you choose to agree on the new learning method or be stuck in time. Some student were so devoted to finish their education in time, some student would find the new learning method useless, some find it easier for them as what they have to do is to go the internet find the meaning of every word written on their modules, some find it unfair because they were still paying almost the same amount of their tuition fee when they are at home paying also for their expenses with their internet load, some find it boring because they could not have the personal communication, some find it as hard as they have to analyze the lessons all by themselves, some even find it suicidal. Suicidal that the student cannot bear the pressure od getting the passing grade by studying alone, understand what was printed on their notes, as well as the pressure of looking for sources of funds needed for to get a tools and take access on the internet as all is going through digital.
If you try to analyze the situation it has the negative and positive impact.
The good thing about this new learning method is, it is "hassle free".
You dont have to take a trip from home to school- as you have your modules already you will be doing it at home.
You dont have to wake up early- because you will be studying at home you dont need an extra time to take a bath as early as 6:00am.
You can do multi-tasking- while you are browsing on the internet you can have your snacks, you may watch your favorite noon time show, you can fix the dishes on the sink, you can watch your youngest sibling when mom is not around, etc.
It is a money-saving - as you are staying at home, you dont have to be given a money as your allowance because you dont have to pay for your food anymore, you dont have to pay for a transpo, you dont have to buy snacks in the afternoon, you dont have to buy a new uniform, you dont have to pay for a book, etc..
You dont have to be concious with how you look- admit it or not, you get that "haggard look"going to school and have the face to face class, so all the time,mostly with girls, tend to check themselves in the comfort room from time to time if their faces gets oily and haggard and you dont wanna be bullied by others so you'll retouch, apply face powder, lipstick, perfume and so on, but now that you studying at home you may even wear the same clothes that you wear yesterday, you dont have to brush your hair, you dont have to put on a lipstick, you even considering not to take a bath.
It sounds really great to be "hassle free", however, there are some negative impact also.
First and the most common negative thing about this new learning method is the higher chance of cheating- unlike before when the classes is held in school the teacher is there to watch over the student's behavior. Now, you can even hire a person to do your school works as nobody is watching nobody will know.
You become less productive- if you have your school papers at home you wouldnt be obligated to help with the household chores because your parents knows that you need to do your school works. But the truth is you spend most of your time browsing on your different social media accounts-facebook, instagram, tiktok and so on. Later in the afternoon then you'll proceed to do your school works.
You are not nurturing your brain- if you have to answer an activity you'll simply look into the internet, you'll search it, read it, and copy. You become so lazy to work with your brain.
You will not grow as a student- before they are so many activities in school that enhances your skills. Just like joining on the different clubs or organization. In this way you are developing the other side of your character, it helps you get and build relationship with your fellow students, you share you abilities as well as you learn from the abilities of others. The recital activities, debates, participation during school's celebration (aquintance party, founding anniversary, christmas party and more), all of those are missing, that somehow could help you grow.
Those are just the few things i have found worth to share with you. Again, these are all base on my own point of view, i never intended to offend anyone. In whatever circumstances dont let anyone judge you by your level of education, dont be afraid to explore and develop your personality and build a unique character.
