Of course, they might not be notified of the consequences of the actions and choices they made back then, or probably they might have decided to chose that path, claiming it's their lives, their ways of doing things, thereby not paying attention to clue of warnings against those choices, but now, they could see the end of their actions, which they couldn't see from the onset of their choices, now regrets has set in.

You'll observe majority of their instructions is always based on what they've experienced.

Take heed to their tunes of wisdom birthed by the experiences they couldn't help, and couldn't pay attention to.

They might have been zealous about what they thought it's the best way of deliverance from adversaries to adversities of life, which couldn't help, but they wished to have known what you knew, or what you are to know through them, during their time.

Why shouldn't you wake up to reality of the world, then put a check on yourself where needed, before you start wishing to learn from what the next generations might learn from the ignorance of the present one in times to come, thereby repeating the same cycle of conforming ignorance threaded by the past generations.
