Operating system
In computing, an operating system (OS) is a set of programs and routines responsible for controlling and managing devices and computer components, as well as performing basic system operations. The operating system integrates the various parts of the computer and hides from the end user the details of the functioning of these parts. The operating system creates a work environment for the user that handles processes and files, instead of bits, bytes, and blocks.
