A thin line between religion and failure

Religion was introduced to Africa by the colonial masters many years ago, prior to the coming of the slave maser, Africans though primitive were thriving well, has an organised system and served their own gods which through belief were the strongest.

The white came and introduced Christianity and other foreign religions. These religions came with manuals which they referred to as the holy books. We accepted and respected these religions and gave it our best thereby rendering our gods powerless as there was no one ready to pour libations to the gods.

Over time, we became adherent of these religions and has these religions grown? Yes but have we grown as individuals? I'll say yes to an extent but we have allowed religion becloud our judgement and our hardworking abilities as we believe in miracles these days other than hard work.

So many times, we believe God will do it instead of us rising and doing it by ourselves, making a mockery of the God we claim to serve. I've watched a lot of times when instead of working hard to achieve a desired purpose, we relax and expect a miracle. Success is attributed to God and failure to the devil. Instead of blaming ourselves for the times we failed to deliver, we find somewhere to hang our failure on.

Just recently, i watched a video online where Nigerians in their own country were Praying that God should send angels from heaven to go and change the result of elections in the USA. How can that even be possible? the people have come out in mass to vote who they want as their leader in their country and some people somewhere are praying against the voice of the people forgetting that the voice of the people is the vote of God.

Little wonders that Africans are suffering, not going out to vote the right persons and staying back at home believing hat God will elect the right leader for them. The question is, how does God has anything to do with the politics of humans? Africans believe everything comes from God whereas those who brought the religion to us believe in hard work.

Science is as a result of extensive research, based on findings, dedication and hard work. Little wonders there has been no scientific discovery in Africa. Though we are perceived as backward but if we can work, strive and diligently follow instructions, we will be able to move forward and over take. Remember the pyramids of Egypt, those wonders were erected without the help of any foreign scientist. Maybe our ancestors have died with the brains and left us with only imaginations.

We should not allow religion determine everything about us, even in the holy books, emphasis were made to hard work but we want to find the shortest route, then we rely on miracles, expect favors. Though these things happen sometimes, but we should not wait for them to happen before we succeed. Lets learn to succeed on our own so that when these miracles happen, we can appreciate them more.

We must learn to always give and take, work hard to succeed and also live a good life. We must also know that having faith and hope alone is not enough in a world of rigorous activities. Success can only come if hard work meets opportunities, a little prayer can be effective if much work is put in place and God will not just surprise a man who sits idle and do nothing, breakthrough only comes to those who strive to attain excellence.

God has not confused man, its man who has confused himself with too many beliefs to enrich himself by not working hard. Africans especially needs to wake up and push, with God in our hearts and deeds but laziness should not be excused with beliefs of miracles. Africa will be great if only we can aspire for greatness and work hard rather than waiting for miracles to happen. Truly its a thin line between religion and failure.

Well colonialsation does not bring some of the religion as stated here, Ethiopia has been practicing Christianity before the advert of colonization and so those colonization does not bring Islamic just that Africa received the religion with so much bias.
