Animal Farm Book Review
I read books a lot, with my favorite genres being - Paranormal, Thriller, and Mystery. On a fateful day, I decided to check out Animal Farm, a book whose genre was unusual for me. And that was the reason why I decided to read it! Surprisingly, I loved it, and that's what brought about this review. So basically, I'll be reviewing Animal Farm. Normally, I don't review books I read, at least not like this, but there is always an exception, right? And yeah, it took me a while to write this like a typical book review and it's safe to say that this is my first published book review. Yay! Let's get right to it.
**About The Book**
Animal Farm is an analogy novel by George Orwell, and it was first printed on the 17th of August 1945. The book casts back happenings that led up to the Russian Rebellion of 1917 and afterward on into the Stalinist span of the soviet coalition.
The book portrays a society where animals are much wiser than they were in the past and are now. And as a result of their wisdom, a group of farm animals initiated a revolt against the humans. They could do things that humans do, like speak in English effortlessly, drink, and more, and these abilities gave them the ability and power to be dictators. The animals revolt against their human breeder, with the aspiration of creating a world where animals are entitled to equal rights and freedom with the humans and are happy.
**Plot Summary**
Old Major, the old boar on the Manor Farm, called the animals together for a gathering. He gives a speech about the wickedness shown to them by their human owners and refers to humans as foes of the animal dynasty. This happened while their keeper, Mr. Jones, is asleep in a drunken state.
When the old boar dies, two young pigs, Napoleon and Snowball assume mastery and consider it their responsibility to prepare for the revolt against humans as taught by Old Major. The farm animals rebel and drove their keeper Mr. Jones and his men from the Manor farm and afterward renamed the farm "Animal Farm."
They take on the seven decrees of which the most key is "All animals are equal." Snowball schools the other animals to read and write, while Napoleon tutors youngsters on Animalism concepts. There is plenty of food on the farm, and it runs effortlessly. The pigs upgrade themselves to positions of authority and reserve special items seemingly for their health benefits. Not long, some men strike Animal Farm…
Mr. Jones and his men are trying their best to take back the farm from the animals, helped by some other breeders afraid of the same animal rebellion on their farms. Snowball and the animals defeat the men through a shock strike as soon as they enter the farm barnyard. Snowball and Napoleon compete for superiority after the battle declared "The Battle of the Cowshed." When Snowball made known his intentions to update the farm by constructing a wind generator, Napoleon chases Snowball away and proclaims himself the dictator of the Manor farm…
**Review**
From a rational point of view, Animal farm is just a story of animals booting out their human keepers to take complete control. Still, Orwell managed to portray the change from insurrection to out-of-hand corruption and manipulation. The book gives itself an emblem of farm animals that banish the human in command and lead a community to the maximum impartiality and civility between all animals. And as the community moves on, the equality decreases, and power and authority separate the animals. In general, the story exhibits how a community's beliefs and doctrines can be influenced or tampered with by dictators, leading to dishonesty by those in authority.
This story relates attentively to the usual misapprehension of Collectivist beliefs. Every single animal appears equal and alike initially, but as time proceeds, the paradise where all animals gain becomes an autocracy governed by the pigs and where only the pigs exactly gain under this new liberation from the human clan. It is a bright illustration of what happens when an insurrection goes off track, as in the case of the pigs and the Manor Farm.
The book is ingenious, gripping, and stimulating. It portrays an easier and more interesting method to assimilate and comprehend communism without the necessity of studying and learning Communist historical events to understand the misunderstanding and undoing of communism. The books offer an easy route to learning communism, the causes of its failure, and who or what caused the problem in communism. The book is also pleasant as it explains the high-intelligence topic of communism in an easy-to-understand story that is intended for both children and grown-ups.
Another great thing about the book is that it not very lengthy. It tells a powerful tale in 125 pages that is so easy to read but difficult to assimilate. The book will be greatly valued by young readers with curious minds and those with no grip on the book's political points. It can be relished as the uncomplicated, informing, and touching allegory it is, a tale that exhibits humanity at its best and very worst.
**Lessons To Learn From Animal Farm**
There is a lot to learn from the book beyond animals' elevated wisdom. Here are some important lessons to be learned from the book.
**Those in authority's minds and beliefs are susceptible to corruption**: The book depicts how easily power changes those with it and how they manipulate it for their selfish interests and benefits. It clearly shows how they forcefully control those under their dictatorship to remain in control and how they enter into battles for supremacy, forgetting the reasons why they were put in power.
The people in authority use diversions to distract those under them from the key problems and use them for their political benefits.
**Rephrasing history and telling lies are the first treads to brainwashing**: The pig clan rewrote and revised the seven decrees. Some of the other animals suspected something is off but did not question or do a thing about it. A commandment says, "All animals are equal," and rewritten after some time to "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than the others." The new decree will make all animals think and be agree that some animals have or are entitled to more benefits. They will accept it to be true and right without questions. It has been this way with authority holders for generations, influencing the law and history in different ways to command the people.
**Smartness on the part of authority holders doesn't guarantee they will rule well or do what is best for the community**: The pigs were put in power by the other animals because they appear smarter than any other. They started well; Old Major did have good intentions and did relatively well before his death. The pigs started abusing and taking advantage of their power when they realized all of the farm animals agree with whatever they put forward without questioning.
**A paradise-like community is quite impossible**: As those in power will continue abusing and manipulating it to suit themselves. They use the authority bestowed upon them to work for their gains.
**Final Words**
Animal Farm is a very nice example of imaginary writing that explains how politics works with the main focus on communism. The book contains all one needs to know about how power and governance work.
It is a touching allegory that provides a warning about the events of history repeating itself – which will be put aside, of course, for humans are good at replicating the mistakes and misconceptions of the past. Animal Farm is a *must-read book for all*…

As a writer, ascertaining and making sure my content is devoid of any form of plagiarism or grammatical error is of utmost importance and I go the extra mile to ensure that. Though writing isn’t merely just producing and dishing out grammatically correct content, it’s VERY important.

I discovered and started using this tool earlier this year for my grammar and spelling checks and also for proofreading my articles, email contents, sales copies, etc.
Grammarly is a writing tool that will help you check for and fix errors in your writing fast and it’s very easy and straightforward to use. It ensures everything you type is effective and error-free. It’ll help you draft mistake-free content for that sales copy, gmail, Twitter and LinkedIn messages you want to draft. As a freelance writer, I use it regularly for proofreading my contents and it works greatly.
There are several ways to use Grammarly but first and foremost, you’ll create a free account to have access to its properties like its editor. Once you create an account, you can start using the grammar checker tool. To use the software:
1. You can copy and paste your entire article or copy, blog post, or writing into Grammarly for proofreading, grammatical error check and also for a spell check.
2. By clicking on ‘Import’, you can upload a MS Word document containing the article you want to proofread into Grammarly.
3. You can use Grammarly as your primary writing tool or space by writing directly in the tool. Grammarly will automatically start pointing out typo or grammatical errors as you type the words.
4. You can install a Grammarly plugin or attachment on MS Word, if you’re using Windows operating system. This will help detect errors as you write. The attachment isn’t available for MS Word on Mac books.
Grammarly underlines or highlights mistakes similar to what you see in MS Word, almost immediately after you type in your text.
**TURNITIN.COM**
Turnitin is a great tool to check for plagiarized ideas or concepts. It helps check for originality and it’s a good plagiarism prevention tool. It compares your submitted work with its large database of websites, articles, etc. It’s a great tool for students too and it’s also widely used by them. It helps promotes academic integrity.
Turnitin checks for plagiarism by comparing text of one file with another. It does this in two ways, by comparing the text of a file fed or submitted to its system with anything similar posted online to detect similarity of ideas or words between the file matching content online. It’s effective in giving the score of the comparison, with 0% being original and 100% being copied or plagiarized.
The other way is comparing the text in the file submitted with the files in its own massive database of articles, websites, etc of various users. The above ways make turnitin effective and accurate in detecting contents that have been used or uploaded before by one user and being repeated by another.
Turnitin software is currently made available only to universities and other institutions. To use turnitin:
1. Go to Turnitin.com
2. On the dashboard, Go to Assignments
3. Click Add – It displays space to Add assignment or article
4. Under Assignment,
Type in the name of the assignment, add respective date(s) and select “Single uploaded file only”.
5. Under Turnitin Service, check and mark “Use Turnitin”. This will display the tool properties options to select from. Select the appropriate ones.
Notes;
- Under “**submit paper in the following repository:**”, there are **None** and **Standard Paper Repository**. Select None if you don’t want the file to go into Turnitin’s paper repository after the originality check has been done. Select the other option if you want it to go into their repository to be checked against other papers that’ll be submitted to Turnitin.
- Under “**Generate originality reports:**”, there are **Immediately** and **On due date.** Select **immediately** if you want the copies of the file or paper to be sent immediately to Turnitin for checks or **on due date** if you want the opposite.
- Under “**Check originality against:**”, there are **Turnitin paper repository**, **current and archived internet**, **periodicals**, **journals and publications** and **institution-specific repository**. Select and checkmark the boxes of the ones you want your submitted file to be compared with.
6. Complete the assignment form then click post.
