Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away lived a princess due to be wed. However, all the princess her age had become kings long ago, and therefore the princess had no one to be bethrothed to.

Desperate to find the man of her dreams, she begged her father for a compassionate man, with a generous heart and good intentions. The king put the word out to the lands, for a strong and bold man to rule the kingdom by their side, and found two knights of royal blood which could take the princess's hand.

Both of them were charming. Their clean smooth skin and muscles wooed any woman which they passed. The first was known as Asmodeus, and the second was known as Agnes. However, only one could take the princess's hand, therefore the king proposed a trial for the knights.

The first task was to obtain the golden hatchet deep in the kingdom's forest. Asmodeus fought hard and cared for nothing in his way. Agnes fought hard to find the golden hatchet, but instead encountered a forest sprite along the way. She had unfortunately lost her child, and if the child was out at nightfall, the wolves would certainly close in and kill the offspring.

So instead of searching for The golden hatchet, Agnes concentrated on finding the forest sprites child. And before the sunset, the child was found, however when Agnes has found where the golden hatchet laid, Asmodeus had already claimed the price.

The king was proud of Asmodeus, and praised Agnes for his good efforts. But this one was not enough to please the king. Next, The king tasked the two to climb the highest mountain. The two knights Were given camping materials, and food To last the journey. Once both were set, they went off to conquer the challenge at hand.

Agnes tried Hard to climb the mountain, but on his way found a traveller which need his help. He had also tried to climb the mountain, but had run out of food and water hours ago. Agnes nursed the traveller back to good Health, but because of his he could not continue his climb.

Asmodeus thought of nothing but the glory which waited at the peak. He also bumped into travellers along the way, however he excused them, apologising that he was a prophet of the king which had to reach the top at all costs. And because he was so diligent, he eventually reached the top Of the mountain.

The king once again praised Asmodeus whilst again praising Agnes for his efforts. There remained one final challenge to be had. Instead of a glorified quest, the king gave them a task closer to home.

Two pubs had become notorious within the kingdom walls, and were going to be shut down. Neither had paid their taxes in a month, and so the king wished the two knights To attend to this matter.

Asmodeus was brutal. He demanded the first owner pay up, never minding the poor conditions and rural area the establishment had to endure. Offended, the first owner refused, and with that Asmodeus destroyed the place, shutting it down so the kingdom would know not to mess with the king.

Agnes on the other hand went to the second owner with open arms. From his own purse he gave what little he the man's taxes, and have a party for all ages. Within a few days, the pub Was able to fend for itself again. However, Agnes had not a coin to his name, and slept a starving night.

The two knights presented themselves The next day to the king. They knelt down and bowed their heads to their master's glory, and his daughter's beauty. The king looked to Asmodeus and to Agnes. He then looked to his daughter wondering if the decision he would make today would bring the heavens to earth, or earth to the pits of hell.

The king raised his finger, and pointed to Asmodeus. He was truly the man which was worthy to take the throne. Great ambition and determination were the only weapons man needed to bring their brethren forwarded when a new age dawned, and Asmodeus had displayed These skills admirably. For this, the king offered a place by his side.

Agnes looked disappointed. He had failed the king several times, and knew this was what he deserved. But the king had other plans, as the princess went to Agnes's side. Yes, the role of ruling a kingdom is for the hard working, but the gift of love Needs not a hard worker, but compassion. The king would arrange the two to wed immediately, and so all would live happily ever after.
