A friend, a true friend, and a best friend **The best friend you can ever have is the one with whom you never feel the need to tell a lie.** It is a beautiful evening, with enough peace and quiet to allow me to concentrate on writing about the topic I have chosen to write about for today—a friend, a true friend, and a best friend. It is good to start from a ****friend**** or someone with whom you share your daily life routine, such as going to college, going to watch some movies, having a good time, or participating in sports together. That friend may or may not be able to assist you also just in case you are in trouble. Perhaps he would simply be clinging to you and just using you for personal gain. That is not a real friend, but "friends" like that, or whatever they want to call themselves, are not suitable for us and would not make us productive. When it comes to ****true friends****, those who do not have as formal relationships as other kinds of relationships are trustworthy and genuine. If you tell them about something, they will gonna keep it within themselves and may not dare to tell it to others. They are also aware of your preferences and dislikes, your favorite color, your crush, among other things. They will publicly praise you and is not ashamed to others that you are their friend, and they will also point out your flaws in front of you, not to degrade your feelings but to correct you in a friendly and proper way. If you make a mistake at any point in time, he will do everything in his power to correct you, but he will not abandon you. He will be there for you at all times, no matter what. They make sure that they would not just be the ones who will be at the center of public attention when they achieve something, they are also proud to share it with you. On the other hand, it is likely impossible to adequately describe a ****best friend**** in just a few words or a few sentences. But I can say that a best friend is someone with whom you can discuss anything and everything about your life, including your past, present, and even the things you plan for your future. Everything from your feelings about someone to your family problems and even to the things like financial difficulties, and anything else you want to say, that best friend is there and understand you. The fact that he or she will make fun of you and annoy you does not mean that your best friend hates you. You may argue but eventually forgive each other afterward, and he or she is willing to listen patiently to whatever you have to say to them. If there is a divergence of opinion, he will still consider your point of view and respect yours, and if you need him at a particular time, that best friend would make the best he or she can to go with you. Takeaway: All of us are not required to tell them everything about our life, but just by looking at our faces, they will get to know us better. It is like, we immediately feel that we could be good friends together because of that strong feelings and connection we feel.

The Kingdom of Thailand Professionals say that as the pandemic finally comes to an end, tourism will bounce back the most to the Asian countries. In that case, let me feature some of the top tourist destination nations here in Asia. Let’s start with the unbelievably beautiful Kingdom of Thailand! Did you know that there over one thousand four hundred and thirty islands and forty thousand temples, in which mostly are still active in use, in Thailand? If you’re ready, then brace on as I highlight important facts you should know about this Southeast Asian country. ****Fact 1:**** While most countries in Asia have a history of European colonization, Thailand is the only Southeast Asian nation that was never colonized by any European country. That is why Thailand, in their own language, means “Land of the Free.” ****Fact 2:**** Siamese cats are native to Thailand. As we are all familiar with, Siam was the original name of the country before it was changed to Kingdom of Thailand in 1948. Before, there used to be 23 types of Siamese cats but now, there’s only six. ****Fact 3:**** The flag of Thailand has five horizontal stripes with colors red, white, blue, white and red that’s why it is impossible to hang it upside down due to its symmetrical design. Places to Visit ****1. Chiang Mai**** If you want to have a breath of fresh air, in Chiang Mai, you can enjoy the ancient constructions and green, tropical forests. ****2. Ayutthaya**** This ancient city is located in north of Bangkok and used to be the capital of the country back in the 14th century. The kingdom and its ruins called the Ayutthaya Historical Park is now a UNESCO site. You may note believe but this park has three rivers surrounding it. ****3. Bangkok**** Being Thailand’s capital city, you don’t ever want to miss its vibrant street and of course, do not skip any attraction located here such as the Grand Palace, it is the royal residence of generations which was built in 1782. There’s also the Wat Traimit, the Temple of the Golden Buddha, where you can see the giant gold shining statue of Buddha, Chatuchak Market, a perfect place for shoppers where you can buy random items from jewelries to lamps and many other more souvenir items. ****4. Phuket**** Phuket, Thailand is the number one spot for souls looking for quiet and serene beaches. Here you can find crystal-clear water, outstanding cuisines, luxury resorts, spas, restaurants, and a destination to forget that the world is cruel out there. This is the largest island in the Andaman Sea so make sure to put it on your bucket list. And if you got here, you might want to enjoy walking around to see the beauty of old houses and busy markets. Thailand is a busy city with immense history. You will not only be going home with fancy pictures but also with great historical knowledge. If you want to visit nature’s finest forests and beaches, history’s well-grounded sites and parks, and discrete culture and tradition all at once, then now is the right time to plan your trip to Thailand. It’s true that Asian countries have wonderful tourist destinations that feel like home. I hope to see you in our next stop with this series!

You are loved, cheer up Following the successful removal of the hindrance from the front of your journey, you intend to make a mutual effort to devote more of your time and attention as the days go on, not just to improve what needs to be improved. But to do things the way it should be. *You appreciate your patience and determination, but others don't. However, I appreciate you taking the time to read this and being patient with me.* Your knowledge of the gravity of the situation, I believe, is correct. To discover something about yourself that was previously unknown and thus pure is my ultimate goal. This is the greatest aim of my journey to find it, and everyone does as well, even you. However hard you try to hold on to the parts of yourself that you are certainly already exist, you still have the strange impression that nothing will change in the future. And no matter how hard you try to endure all these parts, you can't tell when the pieces were already falling apart. *You know, the feeling of emptiness even when you have done great already. Others wouldn't still understand, but I am here for you.* The respect and admiration that you have received from the people around you might never be matched by any of the honors and accolades that you have received from someone you have always respected but also someone who could not see the great in you. They are something you could not explain totally, but still, you just love the way they are. The first thing that comes to mind whenever they're on the lookout for something new is that you don't have time to ponder the reasons why everything you've worked for them is something they cannot compensate. So instead of thinking about it, you express a desire to look into the other situation more deeply. You intend to participate in the process of carrying out the work that has been assigned to you, and you look forward to contributing to it with your passion. You made it as an escape to get away from the sad reality even for just a short time. *Your progress toward reclaiming the fighting spirit that once resided within you is marked by the completion of each challenge that you successfully finish and overcome.* The kind of determination you have always wanted is achievable. You just have to be you and not to be anybody else. Although your efforts seem to have been exceptional, it appears that you still consider them insufficient, despite the fact that they have always been extraordinary. You are not at a loss for what to do at this point just because you've assumed that there is nothing else that can be done. You are doing great, more significant than what others could think you could do. As you continue on your journey to discover who you meant to be, a junction in the road has presented itself, but choose to continue going on in the right path 'cause it's the best thing every one of us can do. **Takeaway** You are special, dear. No matter what others think of you, you are loved. So stop crying and face the world. You deserve better. Yes, I am talking to you, and I hope it has helped you. Cheer up, reader!

FIRST: Know yourself **The start of all wisdom is knowing about ourselves first.** First and foremost, understanding oneself is the foundation of all wisdom. Only then can we get completely comfortable with knowing that something we knew. It is a way for us to express how important it is to get to know ourselves better, to understand what we truly want, to set objectives for ourselves, to determine whether we are on the right track or not, and most importantly, whether we are happy with our choices. *It's because pretending to be someone you aren't is like living in a world filled with fears, uncertainties, and doubts, and the way to go out is much more complicated.* ****Rudyard Kipling once said in a poem:**** `If you can keep your head when all about you` `Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,` `If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,` `But make allowance for their doubting too;` `If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,` `Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,` `Or being hated, don't give way to hating,` `And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise.` Diving deeper with trust. Trust is essential in considering every area of building a strong relationship from the spot. Working with and thinking through a logical scenario will bring an individual's common sense to the forefront of their mind. Time will continue to move forward for humanity to take advantage of in equipping and sustaining a balanced proportion of decision-making when confronted with a difficult situation in the future. The desire for someone to talk to will always exist, but respect must be given evenly among all parties, and trust will result from this distribution. We do, however, have reservations about other people's thoughts and behaviors. Still, the majority of the time, they are only attempting to demonstrate that they deserve trustworthy people, whom they, too, claim to be genuine, as well as disproving others' incorrect perceptions. A lot of things online state that we can actually assess our self-awareness and decide whether or not people have positive or negative things to say about our personality. At some unknown angle, you will own what will be stated by them. After you have completed the blank panes, you should place a trust symbol above them. At the very least, you can now tell the difference between a comparison of your strengths and a comparison of your flaws. There is something that keeps coming back to mind while thinking about people who think they are flawless without realizing they are not. They are dressed with an excessive amount of self-assurance and the belief that they do not require accompaniment. They appear to be looking at you invisibly and think of themselves as if they were far higher than anyone else. But that shouldn't be in the first place. Takeaway Consider how our hearts can hold a wide range of emotions and how our heads are made up of a broad interpretation, with two eyes that look up and down, to the left and right, but never inward, and an action that demonstrates the reality. However, even though no one is born without flaws, it is important to know oneself and to be true to one's own principles. Because living with something we aren't is nothing compared to living just the way we are.

Academic Break Plans The announcement of our academic break came so unexpectedly. The administration released the memorandum during the midterm examination week and it was effective immediate the next day. Being caught up in adrenaline rush due to numerous academic activities we’ve been working on, I didn’t know if the break is good or bad knowing I’ll be anxious during those days that I’ll pretend to be resting while my head will be busy thinking about the upcoming quizzes, examinations, recitations, and problems to answer. Nonetheless, I chose to be positive and decided to just do my best and prioritize my wellness. I thought of dividing my time and do also the things that I couldn’t do during days that we have online classes. It declared that this is the right opportunity to regain my inner self. Reconnecting with my plants. Since last year, plants are my safe haven. They relieve my stress and so I collected some varieties such as Calathea and Pothos. I used to visit and water my plants once in the morning then another one in the afternoon but due to my continuous synchronous classes and unending requirements, there are days that I barely go out of my room. Playtime with my dogs. Every morning, my dogs visit me in my room but this academic break, I go out to see them and play with them. My dogs are sweet as always, especially Peanut, the youngest of them all, is very clingy. I also took them for a walk here in our neighborhood. Organize my room. My mind can’t focus if my room is unorganized. This academic break, I’m planning to jungle it a bit and make a little change. New environment brings fresh ideas so I’ll have some of things rearranged. I realized I have to utilize my storage boxes that I purchased a few months back. I also need to re-organize my drawers, it’s kind of messed up right now because it’s where I push all my things when I clear my top desk. Make DIY projects. I like to make DIY items using beads or yarn. I impulsively buy supplies sometimes when I think I needed a reward so maybe it’s time to bring them out of the box and make something out of them. This way, I could express my creativity at some point and my mind can relax. Watch Netflix series. I’m currently watching Lucifer and I have to finish it until the last season so I could start some other series and movies on my watch list. Though I watch in between my classes during my free time, it feels different to finish one season in one night and not notice that it’s already dawn. After this, I think I’ll go again with Kdrama, maybe Start Up or W: Two Worlds Apart. There’s a thin line between reaching our dreams of becoming successful and being ourselves throughout the process. There’s a time to study and there’s also a time to do other things that reminds us of who we are. In between these plans, I’ll try to cope up with my readings too if my body decides that I can. I guess it’s really all about taking balance of responsibilities, time, and priorities.

My Bucketlist I bet we all dream of walking down on the airport while holding our board passes and waiting for our flight to be called on. Growing up, this dream of mine is beginning to be impossible but still, I try to hold onto it as if I'm a child and things aren't still complicated. Nonetheless, here are the places I want to visit when the right time comes. ****Japan**** While many wants to go to Japan because of anime, my reason is to simply explore the place and see the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Japan has a lot of beautiful places and I want to explore their cuisine too. It’s where a perfect vacation would be if you want to learn new knowledge because their culture is rich. Of course, I don’t ever want to miss the ever perfect Mt. Fuji with a perfect cone like what we here in the Philippines, the Mt. Mayon. ****Seattle**** I didn't know Seattle would mean so big to me until I watched Grey's Anatomy and it suddenly became one my top favorites. I want to explore the city, walk on the streets, visit the lakes, and have a camping on their forests. Lastly, I want to see the iconic landmark Space Needle. And if I get lucky, I want to be on the places where they shot the series. ****Switzerland**** Switzerland’s landscape is like no other. It is a mountainous region in Europe, a place where everything seems mostly perfect. I want to have a picnic on the mountain sides or ride a train overseeing the snow-covered mountains or have a boat ride on the like. Switzerland’s a place where no negativity could exist. ****Australia**** There's something about Australia that is so cozy; it almost feels like home. I want to explore every corner of every city here. I want to sit on every cafe and run all of their fields. Australia is where I want to rediscover my true self. I haven’t been there but I can see myself roaming around that place, exploring, taking photos, and writing journals. ****California**** My California dreams is unending. As compared to the other countries that I have listed, California is different. As an ultimately liberated country, I wanted to find the other version of myself here. I want to try every flavor ice cream while walking on the sea side. I want to try all the fun rides in the park. I want to unexpectedly jump into a Hollywood actor or actress. And I want to cross the famous Golden Gate Bridge. ****London, United Kingdom**** Well, to tell you honestly, I want to go to all the countries in Europe but London is the first every I dreamt of as a child. My aunt and cousin resides there and I was always inspired to visit the place too. I want to see how tall the Big Ben is and prove that Buckingham Palace is magnificent. Their architecture is of finest and I want to talk to the people there with their British accent. Things may get dark and our dreams may become fuzzy but once you dreamed of it, it is not impossible to happen. You just have to stay patient, do what you must, give out your best, enjoy the ride, and you’ll get there.

Embrace the process and be patient We all know that immunity to the virus is the gateway to end this two-year running pandemic. Thus, taking vaccines is a big step forward. As a student who's been struggling with the inequities of our current situation, I did my part and took my doses. I had my first dose last October 20 and after a month, our city health unit scheduled my second dose for today. Fresh from the struggles of a third year student, I had a hard time waking up early. At 7:30, we arrived at the area located in the middle of our city. We lined up, we're a little bit late though, but I'm hoping we'll be finished within an hour or two. 10 minutes before 8AM, they started distributed forms to be filled out. After writing mine and my mom's, we're just waiting for the line to move. At 9am, the line didn't move yet because they had to prioritize the senior citizens, pregnant women, and PWDs. So, while waiting, I took some photos in the place. Thanks to the tall trees for their shade and fresh surroundings! All schools should have tree parks like this because it is beneficial to the students. Learning in this place will help the students focus and stay healthy. On the sides, there are recycled plastic containers used as plant pots! This proves that Biguenos are really resourceful and most people love plants here. We can never have enough plants. It was 10:30AM when we went out of the building fully vaccinated. Kudos to the local city government of Vigan for providing their citizens with Covid19 vaccines and for procuring a systematized vaccination area for us. We also had a brief orientation about our health conditions and the common side effects of the vaccine that we might experience. This is good in order to avoid panics and unanswered questions that people are afraid to ask. They also provided us with snacks as shown in the picture below: Hopefully, with these little steps, we can now go back to the normal way of living our lives – living without the fear that we might contracted with the deadly virus that has killed many and pulled down the economy of many countries in the world. When we got home, we immediately took paracetamol tablets to avoid having headaches, body pain, and fever. As compared to my first dose, I am doing much better this time. I literally got sick before with a high fever, dizziness, and pain all over my body especially in my arm. If you are reading this, I hope you are vaccinated as well, and if not, maybe it’s time to have yours too unless you have certain health conditions in which you’ll have to talk first to the health professionals. **Finally, I am now fully vaccinated.** That’s the highlight of my day and I really wish I won’t get sick so I could do the laundry tomorrow. I guess I’ll meet you again in my next group of thoughts. Let me know what you think about my day! ***Let’s embrace the process and be patient, we’ll get there soon!***

New Hobby Unlocked One big and true fact about me is that I am a person who always finds a hobby out of nothing. Whatever that is, I like to work on using my hands and do some arts and crafts and everything that is good for my heart. I have jumped onto one thing to another and I can't really help it, it eases my life and relieves my stress, and most importantly, it gives my life a meaning. This year, I have unlocked new hobbies regardless of the busy schedule that I have with my school and with the responsibilities at home. With the stay-at-home requirements because of the on-going pandemic, my exploration widened and it took me places – creativity and self-discovery. It just occurred to me that I placed an order for yarns. My mother has been crocheting ever since and I never knew I could do it too. Now that I have a little bit of knowledge regarding crocheting, let me share them to you. MATERIALS AND TOOLS 1. Yarns Of course, this is the first and foremost material that we need. You can choose between many yarns that suits you as a beginner. What I could recommend is the milk cotton yarn but it’s a bit pricey so I settled with indophil yarns. 2. Hook You can’t go crocheting without a hook. If you really plan on having this as a hobby, I would suggest you to buy the complete set of hook which has all the sizes (mm) needed for different sizes of yarns or depends on the project you will work on. Tip: Find a hook that suits you; the one you think you are comfortable to hold and use. 3. Scissors Any scissors will do but there are those cut clippers that are most suggested for crocheting. You can invest into it because it is worth. 4. Stitch marker Many projects will require you to use stitch markers in order to mark the stitches or the counts. This are tiny little things which is very useful. 5. Yarn Needle This is important and I am really happy that I have this one. It is a bigger needle and I use it to lock or secure the yarns. As a beginner, I get anxious about those lose yarns so I always make sure that they are secured enough. 6. Other materials You will also need other materials depending on what project you will work on such as buttons, zippers, pads, if you will make crochet tops, hairclips, glue gun, and other finishing materials. If you plan on making crochet amigurumi, you should also make sure to get stuffing. There are many tutorials and let’s make ourselves inspired every hour of everyday! Crocheting helped me a lot in dealing with anxiety and stress. When there’s a lot of things going on with my mind, I do try new projects and then it calms me down. It helps me focus because I have to count the stitches and it inspires me to be more creative and productive because finishing one item is so satisfying. Honestly, it became my obsession to buy yarns with different colors. Since I’m still a beginner, I only do small projects. This is also because of my limited time. I have made so far earrings, coasters, hair clips, headbands, and appliques. I’m looking forward to share it all to you. Always remember, doing the things you love is not a waste of time. For me, it’s a form of self-love and self-discovery. How about you? What hobbies did you discover this year?

My Idea of a Perfect Christmas *This is my idea of a perfect Christmas....* As the breeze is getting colder, my heart dreams for a perfect idea of Christmas this year. We’ve been robbed for the opportunity to feel and realize its true meaning for so long and now, I dare everyone to make a difference. At the present, it seems that the world is moved by powerful people who are driven by their selfish desires, but, wouldn't it be a perfect celebration of holiday season if we give and show only our true intentions? What we really need right now is the pureness of heart; no pretentions at all. It's not about how grand one thing is, it's about not asking for something in return. Since we are still in the midst of pandemic, the rhythmic voices of the children outside our houses for their caroling may still not be heard but I hope that between the silence on the streets, we may hear the people who truly in need our help. I hope that their struggles will mean something; I hope that their past will become a lesson not only to them but to all of us. We’ve experiences injustices more than what we deserve and we owe the truth to ourselves and to the future generations. We need to inflict honesty to the world – and it will become a more heartfelt Christmas when there are no wicked minds residing in our places. Because of lockdowns, many people’s dreams have died too. The world become narrow for them and they thought that there’s no place in this Earth for their dreams and aspirations. This Christmas, I hope that they find the urge to see that the universe conspires for them and all they have to do is to believe in themselves once again. The past months, lots of people had to say goodbye to their loved ones and this Christmas, I hope they find peace and get over with the grief, piece by piece. Unexpected things happen and acceptance may be hard, but, there’s a promised land for all of us where pain cannot thrive; all we must do is to have faith. At this time, I hope they find the meaning of their life even if they have now to live in a world with empty spaces. Lastly, as everything went with the noise, we couldn’t forget that the most deafening sound came from our mind. And this Christmas, I hope that our minds will be at utmost tranquility. May we have control to our thoughts and me we outlive the gloomy, undesirable feelings that drown us. I hope we learn to forgive ourselves and let go of the heavy emotions and attachments that we no longer need in our lives. May we see our paths brighter this time, now that we’re moving forward. Christmas is always worthy of affirmative and genuine ideas. However, words mean nothing when we don’t put it into action. There are matters that cannot be bought by money and someway somehow, it is what most of us need; love, friendships, truthfulness, genuineness, and good intentions. These ideas for a perfect Christmas – I hope we don’t wait for that exact day to accomplish it; I hope we make every day feel like Christmas and let love prosper around us.

Full of flavors Life is full of flavors. Poems do as well. Some are sweet, like an apple. Some are bitter, like a bitter gourd. Some are happy, like winning in a lottery. Some are sad, like being broken. But no matter what it is, there is always a poem we can relate to no matter what is our mood. However, it is undeniable that some are too deep. Full of flavors, ups and downs, and artistry. Others can comprehend it, but some do not know what the hidden meaning is all about. Anyway, each word that rhyme forms a melody in mind. Each line that provides impact, speaks louder than words. Each ink that was used form an incredible piece of work. And each time you read it, it resonates to the mind, making it more impactful when you can relate to it. When we feel the need to read a poem, do not hesitate to do so. Grab a poetry book and read. Or if tou do not have one, this platform has lots to offer. Just use the search button and wait for results. Nevertheless, I have prepared a poem. It is something about the nature. A Dog Named Peanut **There's a dog whose name is Peanut.** Born on the first delightful hours of June 13 this current year are five ultimately cute puppies from my adult dog named Labang. After weeks and weeks of waiting, the sun finally risen for them to see the world. It was the first dog-birth of my dog and I’ve seen how tired she was but still, she managed to give the best care to her puppies. I was worried all along so I made sure that we are giving them enough food and comfort. Time passed by so fast. They opened their eyes and knew how to run around the house. From the five puppies, I chose her because she was the most little and I worried that she might need her mom for her survival. I also liked her color; light brown and white which is the same with her mother. We started releasing her siblings after 10weeks of being with us. Of course, I was emotional because if only we are financially capable of keeping them all at home, they wouldn't have to be far from each other. Nonetheless, I settled with the fact that the home waiting for them is a home full of love and they'll be happy and safe there. Now, peanut is 5 months old and she grew bigger. She's the sweetest. She loves to jump on me, she visits me in my room first thing in the morning, and sometimes, she would stay under my bed if I have online class. Just like any other pet, she helps me to relieve my stress. She kisses my hand or sits in my lap all the time. I think she isn’t aware that she’s already growing up because she continues to act like she’s a little puppy that I can carry around so easily. I often give her milk so she’ll become healthy. However, I haven’t tried to take her into a bath because I’m afraid that she might catch a cold. I have tried to lose my dogs many times already and it is truly traumatizing to think that any of my pets will be sick. One thing that I like most about her is that she always wants to be the center of attraction. Sometimes, I pretend that I don’t see or notice her and what she does is she gets any of my things and leaves slowly. She is playful and they really look good together with her mom. Sometimes, I take a sneak peek out of my window just to see them sleeping or playing together. She is definitely one of the reasons why I’m getting through the hardest days of my life without realizing that I’m in the middle of it. It feels so good to wake up every morning knowing that someone out there, a dog with four paws and cute little ears with a shy smile is excited to see me. And if you are wondering why I named her Peanut, it is simply because when she was born, I was so obsessed with peanut butter that I would eat it all even without any bread. There may be lots of things going around the world but I prefer to appreciate life’s goodness with the family I choose to be with. Our pets are extraordinary; let’s give them the best that we can give. Peanut maybe small but she’s a hero for me.

Cat is man's best friend, too. **If dogs are considered as man's best friend, cats have equal rights as well.** They are not just simply adorable. They can also make us happy and make things fun. All over the world, countless people are considered cat lovers. One of the several reasons why they make us feel connected with them and love them unconditionally is that their body is covered with fluffy, silky hair, which is very soft to touch. Like other animals, cats have four legs, but in their case, they are short. Their claws that are hidden in the fleshy pads are terrifying when especially when they are sharp, so don't get them mad, especially when you have just met the cat for the first time. *The following list contains some cat breeds types, which you might have seen or heard of already.* On top of the list, of course, we have **Philippine Shorthair** or better known as Puspin, in our locality. Probably you have been thinking about what does Puspin means. Well, it is short for pusang pinoy. In the Philippines, it is the most common household cat you may see. Many of them are found on the streets. Regarding their size, each cat varies differently. The same holds true to their color. They can have a variety of coat colors, but commonly, they have short hair. Next is the **Persian Cat**, which has a push-in scream, a huge circular head, long, lush fur, and ostensibly big eyes. They seem adorable even when they seem taller and heavier than other breeds. They are also a docile, relaxed, and affectionate breed of cat, which relishes being a loving cat that likes laying in lap. **Russian blue** cats are on the list also. They are cute and seemingly adorable. Their most common features are their short, direct, and thick coats. Generally, the skin is lustrous appearing silver or a more profound shade of dark gray, which is tipped with silver-like color. Second to the last is the **American Shorthair**, which has a stocky, brawny build. It is a domestic cat that also has short hair and enjoys laying on your lap. However, do not let its claws reach your face. Overall, this breed of cat is not only elegant but lively, amiable, and affectionate also. Last but definitely not the least is of course, the **British Shorthair** cat. These cats are not only having a distinctively stocky body, but also a thick coat and wide face. Another trademark feature of this breed is their deep orange set of eyes like what we can see in the given photo, and their medium-sized tail as well. There you have it - some of the cat breeds you will find. By the way, this content is inspired by @McJulez article entitled Five random photos and a story. If you want the challenge too, go and check it out. So, go find a pet from the shop, or you can just adopt cats, especially the puspins, because they too deserve nice food, home, and family. It's been a while since my last article. Hope you are satisfied with this one. **Lead image credits to catbreedsfaq and the rest to Pixabay.*

Exclusive Economic Zones **October 9, 2021** *We have been reading a lot of news regarding exclusive economic zones, and tonight I have prepared something related to it.* Maritime boundaries are the division of the Earth’s water surface; it marks the exact areas where a nation can exercise its rights upon. In the Philippines, we have the EEZ or Exclusive Economic Zones where we can govern our exclusive sovereignty right to use and enjoy the territory. Over and above, China, our neighboring country, has been doubling down on its territorial claims in the past years. It was in 2012 when Chinese fishing vessels were seen near the Scarborough Shoal. This urged the late President Benigno Aquino III to file an arbitrary case against China as they continuously assert that the West Philippine Sea is within China’s nine-dash line. In the present year, the lawmakers proposed to declare July 12 as ‘West Philippine Sea Victory Day’ because on this day five years ago, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) arbitral tribunal decided to give the Philippines the legal victory over China. This Arbitral Award is legally binding; it was the Philippines' landmark victory. However, the Chinese artificial islands are still there with their infrastructure and continuous operations in gaining our natural resources, undermining the source of living of the Filipino fishermen who have been abruptly blocked and harassed by Chinese coast guards. It is clear, therefore, that we have the sovereignty rights, as it was given by the UNCLOS, but we do not have the sovereignty over our economic zones in the West Philippine Sea. First, because our government is not dealing with all the possible ways in defending the wholeness of the Philippine archipelago, and second, our country does not have the military capability to play where China is putting fire on. Thus, we may have won the dispute legally but at the moment in time, we’re still losing our territory and maritime resources, and many Filipinos' lives are still being compromised because China fails to comply with the decision made by UNCLOS.  The United Nations is a global organization that addresses issues around the world and aims in having international peace and worldwide cooperation. It has different principal organs in which each has different objectives in order to attain the organization’s goal which is peace and security among all.  Collectively, the United Nations facilitates disputes and counterparts on conflicts that occur to its member states. Here are some of the conflicts where the United Nations has attended with its role which is to co-operate in solving international problems. Somali Civil War An existing civil war that started because of suppression of opposite groups and rise of inter-clan rivalries. The dissatisfaction with the government had led different groups to compete for power. `Role of United Nations:` The United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) was established on June 2012. Provide support in attaining peace and order in Somalia Help in establishing a federal government Give advice to the government regarding peacebuilding Maritime Dispute between China and Philippines The Philippines filed an arbitrary case against China after the latter’s claims to the West Philippine Sea – sharply built artificial islands and infrastructure, and guarded the territory with Chinese coast guards. `Role of United Nations:` Through United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which was adopted and signed in 1982. Enable equitable and efficient utilization of ocean resources Establish legal framework for all marine and maritime activities Determine a just agreement on conflicts concerning the oceans and seas. So, that is all for this topic. We see here that it is vague yet something we need to know too 'cause it plays an important role. Have a great day!

What Business Would I Put Up Not everyone loves pets but we can say majority of us adores pets so much we are willing to spend money for them. Personally, I am very fond of animals. My adoration of animals inspired me to start up a pet shop business. I want to make a place solely for the happiness of our pets. This sentiment is fortunately shared by my friends. With hopes of establishing a pet shop business, we will form partnership. Partnership is the business organization best suited for our plans. We only plan to start up a simple business. Gathering all our contributions, we can earn enough amount for our capital. As partners with bonded with trust and confidence, managing the business will be much smoother. Partnerships are easier to form and compared to corporations, partnerships are less expensive. Furthermore, partnerships still have great financial capability from contributions by fellow partners they invested with consent. Not only properties and money are contributed in partnerships but also skills, services and expertise which will be used to gain profit. We, as partners, can oversee all decision making and work together with trust and confidence. We can also choose whom I will be associated with because a party can only be a partner through consent. Before starting up the business, we, partners, must be equipped with enough knowledge of what we will be getting into. We need to have deeper understanding of what a partnership contract is, mainly the laws that we need to follow. Through this, we will ensure we would start a lawful business. Establishing a business is not a walk in the park. We should not forget to create first a business plan that will serve as our guideline for our future operations. Therefore, getting into the actual operations must only be done after researching the market, forecasting a budget for operations, planning inventory system, facilities and management and choosing marketing strategies – all written in our business plan. We need to make sure that our business is feasible. Most importantly, we need to pass all legal requirements to the State to validate our business as a partnership and as a pet shop business. To start up the business, we will secure a location wherein our building will be erected. We shall then find and contract with the most suitable supplier that we will be transacting for a long time to earn mutual trust and for easier transactions in the future. Our business will operate under the name “neFURland Pet Supplies and Services shop Co.” which will give the impression of the shop being the land of dreams for pets. This business will center on selling pet supplies, namely pet accessories, treats, toys, clothes and other pet goods. On the side, we will also provide grooming services for our customers’ pets at selected days a week. The partnership shall hire sales clerk and cashier of the shop, as well as, animal groomers and even contract with a veterinarian to do regular inspection of the shop operations. The managing partner will oversee all activities needed to carry out the business such as transacting with suppliers, checking inventories by forecasting order points and accounting of finances. To advertise the business, we will promote on our own social media pages, posting daily of our products. We would also like to donate our profits into helping stray animals and charities with such purpose Our partnership business intends create a place dedicated to our loving pets. As pet lover, we shall provide for goods and services that caters the needs of “fur mommies” and “fur daddies”. As a partnership, we will aim to create a lawful business.

How to fix a broken heart Well, this is not a step by step procedure on how you can get over your heartbreak because fixing yourselves is a trial and error process with no concrete steps to follow. You may be interested in this because you’re going through heartbreak right now. And some of you may not be experiencing a broken heart but interested in reading this to prepare yourselves in your future heartbreak. But, you can never be ready for a broken heart. The pain will still feel new and difficult no matter how much you prepared yourself. Even those people who think they are prepared gets surprised of how painful it will be because the pain is a strange feeling they could not have imagined. This is only a little advice to guide you, maybe, or help you face your heartbreaks in a better way. We have different hearts and so it breaks in different ways too. Rejection, farewells and breakups hurt us so bad that we feel a pain in our chests. What makes them more painful is that the person who did those things to us is the person we trusted and loved so much. They have a special place in our hearts and they chose to wreck it, turning our whole hearts into broken shards of glass. Yet, heartbreaks are not our end nor a beginning. It is a transition into becoming a better individual. So don’t worry too much, it is not the dead end of a tunnel where you can no longer continue. It is just a long dark tunnel and you will surely reach a light outside. It is neither a first page of a new book so we do not have to feel the anxiety and worry of starting over again. It is just another page of your old book. Heartbreaks are continuation and transition to move on. To fix a broken heart, we must move on and heal throughout the whole process. Easy to say only, though. But the whole process is tough. You go through a confusing time of your life. You may feel lost but do not worry too much. Heartbreaks are not easy to fix, but not impossible. To fix it, you must face it. Do not be afraid of what you are experiencing. Feel your emotions. Let yourself feel the pain of loving and failing. You can act tough and strong but you’re only human. You do not have to suppress yourself from those feelings. The more you try to suppress, the harder it will take you to move on. You cannot a fix a broken heart by trying to hide it. Open your heart. Your heart may be broken into pieces but it is not something to be ashamed of. Express your pain into words, art and colors. Bottling them up inside will only destroy you. Free your heart from the pain. Write poems of your heartbreak. Paint your pain. Tell your friends how you feel no matter how petty they are. Sometimes, a listening friend is enough to lighten up the burden. Take your time. Moving on is a long process. It will take a longer time than you think. Be patient of your own self. One day it will feel like all your hurt is gone but the next day you wake up, it will feel so painful again. Yet, do not lose hope. Healing is not a constant upward process. It is messy but that’s okay. Do not be too harsh on yourself and rush. Love yourself. Cliché, isn’t it? But it is cliché because we all need it. We always need to love ourselves but we have to love ourselves more in hard times. It is not a time to neglect ourselves and focus only on the pain. Yes, you do need to feel those emotions even though they will hurt you so much but you have to care for yourself still. The greater the pain, the greater your love for yourself should be. Take a breather. Do the things you love. Read those books you planned to. Watch the movies you’ve always wanted. But, loving yourself does not just mean spoiling yourself. It also means pushing yourself to wake up in the morning even though your broken heart is still hurting. It also means trying to sleep no matter how lonely the night is. It also means having those uncomfortable conversations with yourself and your friends of the truth of your heartbreak. It means being there for yourself all throughout the process. It means being kind to yourself while facing your problems. It means forgiving yourself of letting yourself go through that pain. It also means teaching yourself on where you went wrong and what to improve. It will take a lot. The whole process of healing from your broken heart will take a huge part of yourself. But what is important is your willingness to move on and accept what has happened. What matters is the fact that you really want to fix your broken heart. Remember after the tiring, difficult process, you will be a happier person who knows how your worth and what you deserve.

Kaya kailangang parehong may salita at gawa.

A Hero’s Weep In a world where inequality is dominant, it has been unsurprising to see people turn a blind eye to the one who are awfully in need of attention and awareness, on the contrary, it’s difficult to forget what you have perceived especially when it is far away more than what you can control and nobody seems to listen to the cry of help. The songs are engaging to hear; with hindsight, these are eye-openers. In a blink of an eye, people are moving across the countries, serving another land, taking care of another’s child, wiping their dirt off, and sacrificing half of their existence for their families. We have not noticed it because these unjust things have been systematized in our country to be normal. We refused to see the actuality because we made it feel comfortable and deluxe to ride a plane and land in another country to be a slave in exchange for a cash more valuable than ours. But, who’ve heard about the weep of these heroes? We only have a limited life. It is more disheartening than it sounds but people had to put away their dreams, leave their families, and hold a knife while on a blindfold just to guarantee a better status of life to their loved ones. Filipinos are smart, hardworking, and excellent individuals but not everyone has the privilege to manifest and prove these because the ones holding the positions are just delighted of the power that they have, with their sole political interest, and never of the compassion to serve and provide the citizens with equitable opportunities and support. People glorified the wrong names. Amid the pandemic, the bigger picture abruptly comes out. As hard as it can be taken, our country now lacks medical professionals which are extremely needed to control the health crisis because most of them have flown and now working in the foreign land. We burn the midnight oil to pursue our education but even a tertiary diploma can’t keep us all in our own country. Nonetheless, we can’t blame them for being a hero – for standing up on a cracked shell just to pull away their family from hunger or to let their family achieve their thrown-away dream; we blame the system for not heeding to the needs of its people. Glittering the sorrow of the workers as perseverance has to stop too. Most of them were left with no choice, but they had a hope greater than their fear and it is a definition of bravery. If our nation is has tried to identify where we made mistakes and we’re still placed in a position worse than before then there’s no reason to stop trying. We have the right to demand action and accountability. These songs open the minds and widens the perspective. Not because we aren’t affected with the wrong doesn’t mean we sit still and watch others experience the burden. We have the capability to make a change, enhance our outlook, influence the community, and help those whose silence cannot be heard.

A New Page of Hope *Shining above is the sun, giving life in all our days* *But your eyes that always gave warmth to me have lost its grace* *Life has been so tough as sadness holds you in its embrace* *Now, you have learned how to endure in times of blues and greys* *i have known how you fought the darkness every single time* *I have known how much you fell after every climb* *The jet black loneliness and rocky steeps of anxieties have made you weak* *But i have known, all these times, the courage and your strength to reach the peak* *Hold on for a little while, my dearest* *This blank page will be written soon with happiness* *Words may not be enough solace but my love for you will stay true* *Even when far away, don't you ever forget I am here for you* I wrote this poem for a friend. She was a long time friend. She had be with me through my ups and downs. My heart hurt when she told me how much she was struggling during this time. It was heartbreaking to know that the strong person that she is has started to crumble. All I could do was listen and give her comfort with words, even when I wish I could have done more. This pandemic has taken a lot from us. And it is still taking away things from us. Going out is now a difficult thing to do. We have no choice but to stay inside to avoid getting sick. We all thought this was going to end shortly. But now, it already lasted more than a year. It is painful to think how much time we wasted because of this pandemic. Our supposed to be new experiences and memories for a year with our friends switched to becoming blurred times of being alone in the room. We could have spent the year having fun outside but we just spent it hiding in our homes. The pandemic stole our time and memories with our favorite persons. We cannot share beautiful moments with them anymore. We did not hear each others laughter and giggles. We lost the chance to share our stories. It has been so difficult to be there for them in their lowest ties. This pandemic is exhausting and dangerous to everyone’s mental health. Our anxiety became more intense. It hurts to know that we cannot go pit and unwind with our friends who are suffering the same. Caring for our friends became harder. We cannot be there for them, physically. We cannot comfort them anymore with our hugs and embrace. It was difficult to make them feel our presence and warmth. But during these times when we need comfort and solace the most, we must not be defeated by these challenges. Our loved ones are having a hard time right now. We have to do what we can do during these tough times. We are all one chat away. A simple message might be enough. We are all in a difficult situation and chatting is already a big thing to do in this busy time. Make them feel loved and remembered with little greetings, funny memes and short motivating messages. We can still make them feel that we are here to listen to them. We can still show that we care for them. Be understanding. This time is really taking a toll on us. We do not have that much energy. As much as we are having it hard to so our usual things, our friends might feel the same. Our messages might not be returned with the same energy that we have. But, it should not be the cause of conflict and complaints. We must understand that our friends might find it hard to show affection because they are going through silent battles we do not know. They may not reply immediately, they may forget important dates and memories and they may seem timid. Yet, we have to be considerate still because we are friends. Closing Thoughts This time is hard and we should not make it harder. Even if we cannot make it easier, we have to do what we can do. Simple poems, little gifts and constant caring messages may be enough. Our sincerity will reach them.

There’s No Place like Home **There is certainly no place like home, periodt.** Going home always felt so exciting for students, like me, who have to live far for college. Yet, this time felt alarming and uneasy. We were going home because of a pandemic. We had to go home because of danger. I felt anxious but I tried to remain composed. Everything was too normal and I have to act normal too. It was difficult to have that energy to start being productive. After receiving messages of our requirements, the energy is starting to build up. For the time being, I studied every day, learning things on my own. However, no matter how important it is to study, there are other things I could learn, maybe outside. I went out, then, and saw what I needed to do. During this time, nothing is more necessary than keeping our surroundings clean. It was exhausting yet fulfilling at the same time. Doing something helpful for yourself is a different level of enjoyment. Despite the situation we are all in, little moments like these reminds us life goes on and we have to go for it but with optimism. Truly, life continues and we also have the responsibility to help it go on. My late grandmother left her plants around her house and when I saw those plants, still green and vibrant, I felt the need to make it stay that way. I regularly watered those plants this quarantine and nothing felt better than splashing life into beautiful things. Time was all we had this long break. Yet, time is all we needed. Making the most out of it by reconnecting with family and friends is what made everything a little easier, for me. Checking up on friends I could not even talk to because of busy schedules and just casual talking with my family about random things made the current situation lighter and happier. I also tried to help out at home. I cook food and desserts with my mother and helped her in other chores. That was my everyday life – studying, reconnecting with my persons and enjoying nature. Indeed, it is important to use our time to be productive. We felt like we need to keep moving to forget our frustrations. However, the quarantine life is taking too long. It does not feel like life anymore. It feels like obligatory existence, like a boring survival game I have to keep playing. I kept myself busy to keep my sanity. It was good at first but it gets harder everyday. There’s no place like home. Yet why does home does not feel like home anymore? The anxiety keeps lurking on the shadows. The worries and loneliness are constantly by our sides. The comfort and tranquility I have felt in the beginning became confusion and anxiousness. Home feels like jail now. I do not know how long could I keep distracting myself. I watch, I play and I keep talking with my friends. But, it does not feel the same anymore. We miss our old lives. We long for physical interactions. We long to hear the laughter of our friends. We long for the freedom. But, we cannot have our old lives back yet. Maybe, we cannot have it anymore again. Life would not be the same anymore. We are not the same persons as we were before too. So much has happened and we have to keep moving on. It may feel like we’re stuck in a loophole. It may feel like we’re in the end of a tunnel. But, no. We are just in the dark for a while. We’re lost and confused. What we can only is to hope for a light. We can only hope that things will get better soon. As we wait for our lives to turn upside down again, we have to use our time to make ourselves better. We have to be better persons so when we can have our usual lives again, we can cherish ir better. However, when it gets too hard it is not wrong to take a little break. Breathe. In these trying times, I also gave myself the chance to rest. This is my new life.

A Place Like No Other When you hear the phrase, "a place like no other," what comes to your mind first? Your mind looks like going somewhere again. Are you thinking of a paradise filled with the things you fancy? Or a modern place where you can do anything you want? Save it because you will going to witness a place that is one-of-a-kind. In today's eighth day of September, let us travel to Vigan-the home of the very famous cobblestoned Calle Crisologo. If you haven't been in this place yet, put your seatbelt because I will take you there virtually through my words. Since I have already started it, let us now proceed! **File:VIGAN CITY.jpg - Wikimedia Commons** My beloved City of Vigan is an internationally recognized historical site. It is a small city surrounded by rivers and sea and filled with people of brilliant minds and hearts. Being the capital of the province of Ilocos Sur, some of the prominent institutions and offices in the area are located in this city. It is where students and workers from all over the province and nearby districts stay for living and education. Farming, fishing, handicrafts, and tourism are the backbone of Vigan. This city may be a small one, but here lies people with different nationalities that you can trust with. They are ambitious nevertheless, smart, frugal, and hardworking. My city is not a perfect one, but as a person who's been here since the first day of my life, I can say that the kind of living in Vigan is peaceful and relaxing. Before the pandemic came, this city was busy with so many things, and during the pandemic, they took advantage to procure more improvements as they look forward to the reviving the economy after the state of a health crisis. This place is known for its rich history and culture. The famous Heritage Village is the primary thing that everyone remembers when they think of this city. Nothing is more mesmerizing than walking along the cobblestones between the Spanish colonial houses that took years of preservation. Lined up on the sides are the delightfully made items by the artistic hands of Ilocanos. My city is also known for mouth-watering dishes people always come back for, like pinakbet, sinanglao, and dinengdeng. Being a tourist landmark, Vigan City has a splendid Metropolitan Cathedral, a wide dancing fountain, zoo, and gorgeous hotels engraved with the city's culture where you can stay in. Lastly, my city is known for being the center. Various people with different agendas reach the city with the aspiration to accomplish their targets. So, whether it is a weekend vacation, academe, travel plan, workstation, or business area, Vigan City always comes up. Being a global city means it has a globalized economic system. Thus, my city can be considered to be one. What makes my city a global city is. First, there is a developed economic system that occurs, which serves as an advantage to many people who live and visit the city. Second, this is an established city with a remarkable culture and attractive tourist spots where people, not just from the locality, but from the whole world, travel and unlocks the city's beauty. Third, Vigan City is a member of the Organization of World Heritage Cities after it was declared as UNESCO World Heritage City in 1999 because of the elements in the city that traces back the influence of the Spaniards and Chinese. In addition, there are various families in this city who have wealth influence. Developments are continuous, and institutions here aim to be globally competent. With my city's diversification and ceaseless advancement in economic aspects, it can indeed be deemed as a global city. Bravery knows no gender *Just because you are a woman doesn't mean you can no longer be brave nor be helpful.* A serene night for all of us. I felt like I want to write something that is about the bravery of women for this moment. But this time, allow me to write it in Taglish or a combination of Filipino and English. Let us start portraying the bravery of women with Gabriela Silang. For those who do not know it yet, Gabriela Silang is the Joan of Arc of Ilocos. Courage runs in her blood. She is a feisty and fearless female leader. Historically, She was hanged in Vigan's central plaza, on September 20, 1763, causing her death. We also have Melchora Aquino. Melchora Aquino is known as "Tandang Sora." She is also regarded as the "Mother of the Philippine Revolution." Here is a cool fact, she was already eighty-four when the Philippine Revolution broke out in the year 1896. Bata man o matanda, pwede kang paging bayani. Internationally speaking, we also have Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was known as an American, a writer, as well as, a leader who led the movement women's rights in the United States during the timeline of mid-to-late-1800s. Ang aking babanggitin ay ilan lamang sa napakaraming bilang ng mga babaeng magigiting.* Let us start with the local women, and on the list is Leona Florentino. Leona Florentino came from a rich and well-known family in Vigan. She was known for being a poet both in Ilocano and Spanish language. She is deemed the "bridge from oral to literary tradition." and also the "mother of Philippine women's literature" Not only that, maliban sa pagiging ina ng panitikan ng kababaihan ng Pilipinas, siya rin ay isang haligi ng peminismo sa bansa. Speaking of feminism, we have Katharine Hepburn. In line with food, we have Maria Orosa. She was a pharmaceutical chemist, a war heroine, a humanitarian, and also a food technologist. Last but certainly not the least, we have Doña Marcela Marino de Agoncillo. Renowned in the Philippines, Doña Marcela Marino de Agoncillo is a Filipina who made history by being the head tailor of the first and official flag of our humble country-the Republic of the Philippines. With this, she was deemed as "Mother of the Philippine Flag." Closing Ideas Men aren't just the most vital individuals in the world nor the bravest ones. Women can also do the same things as men. In short, anyone can be courageous no matter how they look and no matter what your age is. Because bravery knows no gender and age. Finding self when it is lost *How do you find yourself after losing it?* Some people come into your life and wreck every piece of you that you will not even remember who you were before they hurt you. They come into your life, give it a new meaning and fill up the spaces and void in your heart. You see yourself becoming kinder, softer and more gentle than you have ever been. The darkness inside of your heart disappears little by little. The demons that live in your darkness fades away with it. You begin to be a new person because of them. **Then they’ll leave you unknowingly and confuse yourself.** Out of a sudden, they are gone with no goodbyes. Not even an explanation to you. All the progress you had in becoming better just became blurry. All the feelings you invested became worthless. You poured out your heart and it was only thrown away. You showed yourself to them and they only left it in the open. You begin to assess yourself as a person, what do you lack and how you could not have been enough. Where did you go wrong? As the pain they gave you seeps into your being, you begin to lose yourself. **Losing yourself is getting lost in a vast ocean without any sign of land nearby.** You will never know where you will go. Forgetting who you were is one of the worst things that could happen to you. The changes I made to be better became nothing and I did not know if I should go back to who I was when I could not even remember that. It was after losing myself that I begin to understand how important it is to know oneself. **Knowing yourself means knowing your worth.** You know how you should treat yourself and how you will let others treat you. If you know your worth, you will know let others treat you in a way you do not deserve. I gave myself for one person who cannot do the same to me. It could have been acceptable if the rejection was clear and early but the person gave nothing but a silent farewell. To know oneself, you should know what you are capable of and what you are not. In that way, you could face every situation knowing what you can and cannot do about it. It will let you assess more the situation you’re in and make a decision you know you can stand by. However, after losing myself, I started start to doubt who I really am. You do not know how you should be treated by yourself and by others. You just let people do whatever they want to you even if you do not deserve it. You become a coward not able to face anything because you do not even know if you can. **All those time staring in space are for naught.** I asked myself who I really am and I constantly end up getting confused. Yet, after wondering every sleepless nights and quiet mornings, I came to a realization. The changes I have made should not be thrown away. I realized I did not do it for the other person but for me. I became better for myself. Why should I deem it worthless? Time heals. It was a long period of searching for answers but time will help you find what you are searching for. Keep holding on and you will see yourself again after losing it. Who I was before is still a part of me. The new patches of my self is also a part of me. This is my life and no one should be in control of it besides me. One person rejecting me does not mean I am not valuable. Closing Ideas We should never lose ourselves because of other people. Even when we feel like lose ourselves, we can surely find it still because it is not hidden. We may not actually be lost. We just turned our backs on our own selves that we cannot see how beautiful and worthy we are. Look at yourself again and see. See how wonderful you are. You do not deserve of being treated like nothing. You deserve better. Thanks for your wonderful time! Are you new to my profile? Being alone is not lonely One day, I went out to eat by myself. I asked permission from my mother first. She asked who I will be eating with. I said I would not be anyone and I will be alone. She immediately became doubtful and asked me who eats alone by herself. I did not like that she thinks I need to be with someone every time. She did not believe that I will be alone because she thinks it is not normal to go out by yourself. Many people think like that. They think being alone is lonely. They think that we always need company to enjoy our time. But it is high time we stop that kind of mentality. Times change and so we should too. There are perceptions that we derived from the norms of our society that we must change if we learn more. Being alone is not wrong just because it is unusual. Enjoying time by ourselves does not imply loneliness on life. It is a choice because that is what we want to do. People think negatively of being alone because they were conditioned to think like that. But just because a person seating alone in a table is not the typical sight to us, it does not mean it is not normal and it is questionable. It is not a subject of criticism and suspicion. Hold your thoughts and think of a better, positive reason behind such sight. Being by yourself is actually comfortable. With a cup of coffee and a good book, sitting alone in a coffee shop is not sad but peaceful. We all need a little time of silence. We need a moment to get away from conversations that drain our energy. We crave for a space where the only noise we hear are our random thoughts. It is comforting to be by yourself without needing other’s company. You can be free of the pressure and worry of dealing with other people. We need to give ourselves the time we give to other people too. It is one way to care for yourself. Yes, not having anyone to care for you at the moment does not mean you’re being neglected. You have yourself to care for your own being. Sometimes, we need our own kindness too. We are always selfless and it won’t hurt to look after yourself only. Shop by yourself in malls. Look for books you wish to read alone. Watch movies in cinema without sharing your popcorn to anyone. Your time alone is a time for you to give yourself the love you always gave to others. We can be happy alone. It is nice to have friends and family by your side. But, we should not be too dependent and reliant on other people for us to feel happy. At times when the people who are always around us is not available, we can be comfortable by our own selves. The capability of being happy alone is one of the things I am proud of. The independence I feel when I'm by myself proves how much I got better in loving myself. So, do not pity the people you see eating out by themselves. Be amazed how much they mustered the courage to do such even when people may think bad of them. If we cannot think positively of their situation, maybe it is better not to care because we do not really know everyone's story. But, I encourage you to learn every time you see a sight of a person enjoying her food alone in a restaurant. We must make time for ourselves too. We should learn to set aside a little time. That little time maybe the only moment for us to show that we are living our life for ourselves and not just for other people.

Spring Always Comes After Winter No matter how long and cold winter is, spring will surely come. And in life even when the bad days seems too long, good days will surely come. Out of all the seasons, winter is the coldest and darkest. It freezes everything, even our lives. Everything seems to be put into halt once winter starts. The cold is unbearable, yet inevitable. We have no choice but to deal with it and face it even with our freezing palms. Out of all the seasons, the winter seems to be the one with less colors and glow. Unlike the colorful skies of the other seasons, winter gives you greyest skies. White is all you can see as the snow piles up. Like an old movie, everything is colorless. Winter makes you feel gloomy. You get surrounded by lifeless trees and falling snow that you cannot help but feel gloom. The skies are blue and grey that you cannot help but feel like those colors too. In our own lives, we come across our own winter seasons – a moment in our life when everything seems to stop. We go through a season of coldness and colorlessness. You only feel the freezing breeze with no warmth to hold on to. In life we may face a big hurdle, an obstacle that we cannot handle. It freezes us in the moment, with no hope of moving on. You might have experienced those winter-like moments in your life. You might have felt so down and dark. Do you remember such moments? I have been through bad days. Days so cold and dark that I am stuck to where I was. It was heartbreak after heartbreak. I have been so heartbroken that I could not sleep at night. I felt so down that all I could do was stare in space all day. Like a time freeze, I forgot to live my own life. I forgot to value myself. I forgot to take care of my emotions. I was just stuck to where I had been left. It was hard. How do I move on from this? How would I even get back standing from falling this hard? Do I still have hope? Do I still have chance of loving again? Thoughts like that ran in my head. That winter in my life made me doubt my own worth. But do you remember that seasons change? Winter is not permanent. Spring always comes after winter. After a season of gloom is a season of bloom. Bright skies and fragrant flowers replace the sad snows and dying trees. Spring is a time of happiness and color. Even in life, times change. Our winter-like moments will end and become spring-like times. The change in seasons gives us the hope that our life will get better too. Life gets better. You may feel that life is not worth living anymore. You may feel that life is too cold to bear. You may feel that you cannot continue and move on. But, like how the snow melts and uncovers the colorful flowers, our negative feelings fade and become blooming emotions to live again. There is always hope of getting better. Our winters may be dark and gloomy. But, life is nothing without those days. Feel your emotions. Face those feelings that gives you a hard time. Let your feelings flow and deal with them. Having the hope of future means making most out of the present. Our snows become flowers when we learn from our bad days. Our days of darkness are our chance to be better in life. It is our chance to teach ourselves that we are humans who feel different emotions. It is our chance to teach ourselves to be feel and handle those emotions so we can get better in the future. It is a season for us to know how we treat ourselves and to see what to change. Seasons change and so we do too. We become better in valuing ourselves when we go through our winters with hopes in our hearts that spring will come. Always remember that spring always comes after winter.

Change is Inevitable `September 2, 2021` In this society we live in, a lot of things can be noticed. Changes are prevalent, and it is inevitable. We can see things change here and there, and we, people, do as well. With all the problems we have, what else can you say to the social ills present in society? Here comes Rizal. Just like what I said yesterday, he is one of the vanguards in resisting and advocating change, especially political and social, during the Spanish Era. He still resounds throughout the country up until the present time. We can all be like him in our own little ways. He may have died several years ago already, yet his ideals are still simportant. He guides us to strive hard in life, especially the youth. This is to defy all odds as well as boundaries so that we could reach our full potential and accomplish the best things in life. **However, the question is what social, political, economic, and cultural changes could possibly make another Rizal in our present times. With this question, let us talk about it. I have given my best to tackle each one of them for you to better understand my points.** Social Changes The things that could possibly make another Rizal in the present is first when there is a need for fundamental social change. Moreover, many individuals don’t know already how to give respect to other person especially to those who belong to LGBTQIA+ and vulnerable groups. With this, what the present Rizal could do is to help those who feel inferior to gain their confidence and help make a positive impact in the society. Lastly, by addressing the society’s perception of race to improve racial equality. Economic Changes In terms of economic changes, the things that could possibly make another Rizal is the increasing number economic problems such as the effects of the pandemic. With the increasing price of goods and services, it makes life more tougher especially to those who are part of the poorest of the poor. With this, a new Rizal could be possibly made. As a Rizal, the things he could do is to make use of the new technology to raise awareness on how people could use the time they spent online in earning something such as being smart enough to find jobs online, that could at least revive the economy. Political Changes In terms of political changes, the first thing that could possibly make another Rizal in the present is the undying emergence of corrupt politicians, whose pockets always get fat. As a present Rizal, what he could do is to reform the government. Raise awareness to people on voting for the deserving ones. Let us not be tempted to the money, which some politicians give when running for position because those who have care for us are what we need. We deserve to live in a community filled with peace and a government that is healthy, not a country filled with crocodiles that are filthy. Cultural Changes It can be noticed that many of us are slowly turning our back to our own and started patronizing other’s cultures. It’s not bad, but everything that is too much is not good enough. Another is the increasing number of teens that are getting pregnant. With these things, a new Rizal could be possibly made and make changes. As a present Rizal, he would use his voice in giving importance to what our national hero wants us to have and to live, and that is the love for our own country and culture. Lastly, to remind us that life is not a race of forming a family. Final Thoughts You have just read about my ideas as regards the possible happenings in terms of social, political, economic, and cultural changes that could possibly make another Rizal at present. No need to repeat them because it is already the closing thoughts. However, always remember that regardless of the time we are present in, regardless of the generation that is present, there will always be Rizal. Inspiring Lives through a Light of a Star The stars which are light-years away reflect their shine throughout the world. Like dots, once connected, they form a figure. Jose Rizal, as a form of star from the same sky that we share, still shimmers whatever the season is. As one of the vanguards in resisting and advocating change, especially political and social, during the Spanish Era, he still resounds throughout the country up until the present time. It was because of his work that carries hope which influenced people to seek independence from Spaniards. For that reason, his name and legacy were more than relevant, and they will exist eternally. His relevance in the 21st century revolves around his great ideas that formed several schools of thought that have something to do with life and his interpretations of social problems. The lack of national sentiment gives rise to the numerous ills in our nation, and his principles in identifying these problems, including his ideals, are cogent and will still be relevant in the coming centuries. Another relevance is that he could be a source of courage. He is someone who can light up our passion for being the best version of ourselves, and he is a light which gives hope despite all the hardships we encounter. He endeavored to indicate what was wicked and corrupt among the people and institutions in the society of his time, and these social problems are still existing in some form or another these days. We can look at him as an emulate in many perspectives of life. He's the best example of patriotism - something most of us need in this time of dwindling Filipino identity. He also put emphasis on giving importance to our culture and own language. Likewise, his life can still inspire us in many ways. He lived a shorter life than others, yet he has done much more things than those who lived longer. This is something that implies us to live our life to the fullest. However, the question is whether today's youth have proven themselves worthy of the legacy left by him. Your answer is as good as mine. There may be cases showing how big-headed the young individuals are at present, yet we've also seen budding Filipinos who became successful and have proven their worth in society at such a young age. Rizal may have been so proud. Here, we can also see his relevance because he showed more than a century ago that a pang of hunger for education and a burning desire for accomplishments, even under challenging circumstances, is achievable as long as each young Filipino focuses on working hard to achieve their ambitions. Closing Ideas For as long as there is poverty and various social illnesses in the society, discouragement in the strife for the honor and protection of human rights, selfishness and greed for power, especially in the government, and the need to make people who are losing their sense of nationalism to change for the betterment, Rizal remains to be germane and significant not just in this century but even in the future. As what he taught us, we have to give the best of ourselves amidst the worst circumstances. All in all, we can be like him in our own ways, for he’s the star who shimmers and guides us to strive and defy all odds and boundaries so we could accomplish the best things in life. We should always remember also to look back from where we came from and love language, our own, the same way as we love ourselves. No one will do it for us so do not just keep on saying words. Do it with action and pride for being a Filipino. Like Rizal, we can all be great even in our small ways. As they say, everything starts with a small thing.

Global Divides and the Things that Separates Them ***In this modern world where everything is changing, there are still those who are left behind.*** In this world where everyone wants equality for everyone, it is ironic that there are still countries that are poorer ones. In a world who seeks unity, we have what we call global divides. The Global North and Global South are the classifications of our world economies. Countries in the North are considered More Economically Developed Countries (MEDC) because they are more economically stable and doing better in their standard of living and quality of life. Moreover, these countries particularly have high life expectancy, free quality education and free universal healthcare as an indication of more progressive economy. More Economically Developed Countries are those that have strong economies where citizens. Countries in the North like United States, Canada and Australia are high-income or economically richer countries which enjoy good education, better health care, and employment opportunities. The Global North are more economically developed because they are developed and advanced technologically which enables them to stabilize their economy. Being properly equipped, they can use innovative methods to stabilize their economies. Furthermore, having better technologies these countries focuses more on secondary industries, such as manufacturing goods, and service industries, such as banking and insurance, which yield higher incomes making these countries wealthier. Countries of the North considered as MEDC are rich countries because they were rich to begin with. They have developed their economies faster and have gone a long way because they were powerful since the beginning. Many of those countries in the North were once colonizers and have taken a lot of wealth during their era of colonization. These countries are more developed because of their government leadership which led them to richer economies. Countries in the South including countries in Africa, Latin America and developing countries in the Asia, are considered Less Economically Developed Countries (LEDC) because they are low-income countries that still struggle to improve their economies. They are considered as LEDC because of their unsteady governments. These countries have poor economies characterized with low Gross Domestic and low Human Development Index. Countries in the South are less developed because their citizens have a poor standard of living and quality of life. People in these countries have poor living conditions that they struggle to meet ends. Therefore, they also have poor nutrition, health care, and education. These poor countries are confronting critical structural barriers to sustainable development. They are extremely vulnerable to commercial and environmental collapses and have moderate levels of human assets. The Global South countries depend on agriculture, trade, and industries which are not very secure and may go downhill very easily. These are low-yielding industries that may not be able to finance food security and healthcare. They are unstable because natural disasters, such as flooding or earthquakes, can cause so much damage that they may be unrepairable. Coupled with unstable governments that do not have functional leadership, these countries continue to be inferior compared to the Global North. These countries were usually colonized in history and have stayed on the low ever since because of the incompetency of their governments. Countries in the South do not have advanced technologies yet, and their cities are still rural d not urbanized. They continue to depend on the North for their lack of resources; however, these North countries are preoccupied with their own developments. **Final Thoughts** The world is unfair and unequal - a fact that some of us did not believe, for they allow their eyes to be blinded by the fabricated lies and high pride. With this, I can say that progress is beautiful but cruel to those who are exploited. The countries in the South are the ones who were robbed. When will the world ever change? When will everyone achieve the same prosperity the others are enjoying? It is in our hands to make a difference. Be aware. Be knowledgeable. Be a contributor to our own progress. **This has been Burnok, your friendly read.cash blogger. Thank you for reading. Keep going on and achieve more!**

Are you a Filipino-movies Enthusiast? *Let us get to the point, do you like watching Pinoy movies? Or not? Whatever your reasons are, let's dive in to our topic today.* `By: Burnok / August 30, 2021` **Status of Philippine Cinema as per Pepe Diokno's (2013) TEDxADMU talk entitled "Who Killed Philippine Cinema?"** Philippine Cinema was slowly killed by us. Yes, the government and we are the ones who are deliberately killing Philippine Cinema. Our country's movie industry can be seen as having a poor state because its economics pushes its citizens not to prioritize local movies. It may hurt, but its fall can also be ascertained by Filipinos' exposure to the films of other countries rather than to mainstream cinema, which somehow influences Filipinos to watch foreign movies more frequently. One factor that affects it is that most movies in our country are predictable, and another reason is economics. In 1990, a tax code was passed that levy a 30% amusement tax on films, which means that if you have spent 1 million on your movie, you have to make approximately 3 million pesos from your movie just to break even. That's what happened in the 1990s, and it became really tough for movie directors and producers to make and produce films, especially to take risks. However, when it was lowered down to 10 percent after Senator Bong Revilla changed it, there has only been at least a little, if none, improvement. Eventually, Filipinos are full of skills but do not have as many resources as foreign filmmakers, affecting editing techniques, cinematography, and even story concepts, plots, and twists. Comparison between South Korean film industry the Philippines film industry. The South Korean film industry is considered wealthy, abundant and continuously becoming more successful than the Philippines because there is a lot of support coming from their government. As a matter of fact, they have this so-called quota law wherein there is a certain number of Korean films to be played from their theaters. Moreover, the Korean Film Council(KOFIC) invests about 8.9 million US dollars per year in supporting and stabilizing their local film industry, and from the video itself, it was stated that Korean filmmakers, especially the new ones in the industry, say that they couldn't have done their first films without government. From that alone, it can be justified that their government is really giving massive support to it, unlike in the Philippines, where it is risky to invest in films, especially if you are just starting out. With all these benefits from their government, screenwriters, filmmakers, and producers are more encouraged to create high-quality and unique films. As a result, it blooms continuously and is being patronized by many individuals, not just in their country but to other parts of the world, including the Philippines. That is something that has been going downhill in our nation. Reviving the Film Industry in the Country Reviving the Filipino film industry extends in the hands of Filipinos and the government itself. One way is for screenwriters, filmmakers, directors, producers, among others, to create high-quality movies that portray our own culture, value, and history where the government has to provide support such as funding, technical assistance, among others. Filipino filmmakers have to level up also when it comes to delivering stories and limit using predictable scenes because this is one reason Filipinos feel cringe. The extensive selling of pirated DVDs has to be taken priority also to stop it. During the summer months where films are issued worldwide, there must also be tax incentives for local film producers whose films participated in this event. This is one way that can boost all these factors I have mentioned. For that various reasons, our own film industry will start to thrive more and become a global player too. Of course, our participation is also essential to achieve it. **Closing Ideas** The role of films in the preservation and enrichment of the Filipino Culture is very crucial. This is because they can be counted as the representation of our nation. Another reason is that it provides us with compelling information about our past, culture, values, attitudes, customs, and lifestyles. Many films also impart educational knowledge to young generations about the history of our country. So, let us do our roles to revive it. The documentaries do their jobs well in preserving and enriching our culture, and this is one good example too that portrays the extent of its importance. With these things, the general public will be given an opportunity to experience and appreciate the films which could shape their developmental years. Thus, it is vital to conserve our culture through films, promote our integrity as a country rich in cultures and traditions, and to the rightful things to make it flourish.
