The regrets of pursuit of money and materialism
Hi everyone. It's the dawn of a new day, 9th of January. May the Lord cause His countenance to shine upon everyone. As we go about our various activities, there is something very important we must not forget. Do you want to know? Please sit back and find out from this story.
Tayo was a very a very rich man. His main source of income was farming. He was a great farmer. Despite the weather, God made his farm to yeild a bountiful harvest. He was so happy. He employed some people to do the harvest for him. Then he began to think about everything he had. He said "I am going to build a very large barn where I will store all my farm produce. I will build a very big house. I will buy the latest car in town. I will wear the latest shoes and clothes. I will relax my body from all the work of the farm. I will eat and drink."
He did not think about anyway to help his community. He did not think about helping the orphans and the poor. He did not think about God who gave him the riches. He did not think about improving the world around him. He thought about himself, for himself, by himself, around himself. He did not think about educating others. He did not think about how he would lift up the fallen. He did not think about how he would put laughter in the mouth of others. Everything was just for himself. He didn't think about other people who were insecure. He said he would take his ease and be merry.
Then God called him that day and said, " you fool, tonight you will die." God that blessed him, who made his work to prosper called him a fool. He was rich, yet foolish. He was a successful man yet a fool. He was a goal getter yet, a fool. When God Almighty calls someone a fool, then that person is a really a fool.
Who is a fool?
A fool is a person in life who does not think about why God made him, why God gave him a good brain, why God gave him success. You cannot sleep on two beds at the same time. You cannot live in two houses at the same time. You cannot enjoy two different meals together at the same time. You are given that extra so that your life can benefit other people.
" Who will own all these things you have provided? " Anyone that lays up treasure not for the community, not for the nation, not for the upliftment of other people, who doesn't want to spend on other people, who says " I want it to reach a million, ten million, a hundred million". The father is sick and yet he says " I don't want to touch that money" the family is suffering and people are begging for help and yet he says " I want to be a millionaire" That riches is not towards God. Those who are keeping riches for themselves alone have the following regrets;
Success without salvation
Satisfaction without sonship
Substance without spirituality
Stature without the Savior
Whatever we gather in life, whatever the stature we reach, we should always remember to have Jesus, the lover of our soul as our savior.
Skill without shelter
In our pursuit, improvement and achievement of skills, we shouldn't forget shelter for our soul.
Self sufficiency without service
That rich farmer said he would build another house, build another barn but was not ready to build other people. Have impact on other people.
Sensuality without sensibleness
Some drink and eat without thinking of where it will lead them eternally.
Are you able to serve others with what you have? When people come to you to help them or teach them, do it joyfully. How are you acquiring your wealth now so that you will not be a fool? What will be your profit if you gain the whole world and lose your soul? What will you give in exchange for your soul. Your soul is greater than all the riches of the world put together. Your life will not be a waste.

So much wisdom in this, I will just drop one scripture. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all other things shall be added unto it" matt 6 : 33
