The Good Thing About Trying Aside from writing for your blog sites, what else do you do when not writing an article? Are you a YouTube influencer too? *Speaking of video influencers or commonly known as Vloggers, I am quite envious whenever I see a person who is confident enough to speak or talk in front of a camera.*

**I also dream of becoming one of them, unfortunately I am a camera shy person.** I tried creating a YouTube channel too but I wasn’t able to make videos as I no longer have time. I think the last video I posted was three months ago. Let’s  forget about it for now.

Simple Task

**Yesterday my 8th grade son was asked by  his teacher adviser to do a simple task which included his parents.** His teacher told him that she needs short insight from his mother about the teaching and learning process. If possible, do it on a short video clip so that the expression of the parent could be seen while stating views about the process of education. **My wife is not really good about giving insights on something or even writing her own personal view of a certain situation**. She can assist our kids with their assignments and performance tasks but when it comes to writing essays and insight she will pass it to me.

So, for the short insight that his teacher was asking, my wife agreed that she will do the short video clip but it’s me who will give her the insight speech. While I was writing the drafts with short size bond paper half full, my wife then exclaimed: ***“Geez! That’s kind of long and I will read all that?”*** Then I responded politely with a little humor: ***“Yes dear of course, I think you should read it a hundred times first before we start filming. That way you can memorize it and talk in front of the camera confidently.”*** And she said and asking our son.: ***“No way! Could you just tell your teacher if it’s okay that your father should do the task instead?”***

Influencer be like To make it short, it was I in the end who made the video. Yes I felt like a video influencer while I was filming myself.

**So I set up in my small home office like a Vlogger.** I used two ring lights, the tripod and used a Bluetooth headset to act as a microphone. After filming for about seven minutes of talking, *I reviewed the video and kind of laughed with myself.* **I just realized how crooked I was while talking.** I just know that I have *mannerisms* when talking or doing a speech. I was kind of *rough*, you know turning my head left and right frequently, scratching my jaw, clearing my throat were the unwanted habits that should not be seen while taking in front of a camera. ***I just can't sit and talk and can’t even look straight at the camera lens (laughs).*** If you are gonna watch it you will feel dizzy with my movements. Nevertheless I have delivered my own insight about the learning process these days with the new normal education. After watching my short video, I just cut unnecessary footage and gave it to my son so his teacher can review. Few moments later, my son told me that his teacher had no more comments about it. **That simple task made me think somehow that I can be a Vlogger too or that I have potential of making my content in video form.** However, even if I wanted to, I think I am not ready yet for physical exposure. Besides, I am not used to talking in front of a camera. *I can talk in front of some group of people like delivering a speech explaining some tutorials.* But making a video while I am talking is kind of different because *I don’t see my audience* and how they will react to every word I speak.

Building self confidence

**In my current office job before this pandemic, I have conducted several talks in front of some upper managers and colleagues.** You know when you are working in the BPO industry, you should be proactive and should engage in programs that will develop your skills, talent and personality. This helped me a lot in becoming more confident in talking in front of people with higher positions. I am an introverted person and I don’t want too much exposure but when I started working in this type of industry I noticed that I started to be more optimistic. *I don’t want to compete with anybody else, I just want challenging roles because it makes me think and develop my skills. Sometimes I learned that I can do things that I don’t used to doing. Like multitasking and always getting the job done before the deadline. So I kind of maintain my good performance and make improvements if needed.* **There are times that we want to do something but we just can’t do it for some reason.** We tend to lose interest because we first think that we can’t. We think of the negatives first and discourage ourselves.  However we failed to think of trying it first. Sometimes I am like this.  **It appears that our level of self esteem is kind of low.** Sometimes we just have to try first before telling ourselves that we can’t do it. When we tried to do things we haven’t done before and the result was satisfactory, our self confidence boosted. *With that being said, that simple task I have done, I feel confident enough to do a vlog if I will finally decide to become a video influencer.*

Sometimes we have to try first before we say no, especially when it comes to enhancing our potentials. We just need courage to try. Thanks for reading. Ciao!
