Better Man

How hard is it to become a better person? Does it really need to be hard to become better?

People have their own free will. We have our own choices in life and different decisions to make. Some people choose to be better while some want to live unpeaceful life.

It is not really hard to become a better person. If there are different ways to become a bad person there are even many ways to become a better person.

Firstly, why do people become bad or evil? If a man is born with good people around him, he will grow and evolve as a righteous person. However there are personal negative traits he has which may not really be a big deal. He might have been lazy or procrastinating. In the event that some evil people did something bad to him, there is a chance that he might get revenge. Thus becoming a bad person.

Opportunity is the root of all evil

Corruption. When and how does corruption occur? I will make an example in government offices as this is where corruption is persistent. For example in public schools. The government is giving a budget for school supplies like pencils for chalkboards. The bond papers in some government agencies. Then an employee would bring home some sheets of paper or pencil for his personal use or probably for his kids to use. We may think that this might not affect the supply as there are plenty of them. However we failed to realize that this is considered as corruption. Remember that any big action, good or bad started from small ones. The person may start to bring home a piece of office supplies on the first day and then eventually he might have to bring home a bunch of them in the future. Like copying an article from another blog site. Some plagiarisers may start to copy a single line or two first, then he will continue doing so as long as he will not get caught.

Why do we choose to do things in an evil way?

Still it is the opportunity. Some people have done bad things but they are not evil. Things that are unintentional and the thing that they don’t have a choice but to make it bad. For example you are in a situation where you will have to force yourself to do an undesirable action because there is no other choice. It may be against your will but you need to do it for whatever benefit it may bring.

It is always nice to be good.

People who've been doing good for the rest of their lives for sure don't have enemies. We can not hate them for being good and there is no reason to do so. So how do we really make ourselves a better person? It is frustrating to know that making ourselves better means that we have to deal with our own insecurities. I myself for example have the traits of becoming insensitive, childish or sometimes narrow minded. I didn’t like myself when sometimes I was arrogant, harsh and selfish. These negative traits have become a challenge for me. I always think of them and that I need to change.

In order for me to manage those negative traits and completely remove it from myself, I think of other people who've been doing good all the time. They become my role models. For example Keanu Reeves. Disregarding his popularity as an actor first, he is highly regarded for being the most humble person. Although there are people who seem to destroy his reputation, there is a lot of evidence of him being humble behind film cameras. So I would want Keanu to be my role model as a humble person. Thus by doing so I also want to be a role model to others inspired by Keanu’s humility.

All traits of becoming a better person are not that hard at all. You just need to do is to become a better child, better parent, better spouse, better friend, better employee, better leader, better follower and everything that is necessary to become a better person.

In some cases there are people who get tired of becoming a better person. Mostly when people around them don’t seem to be human enough to be sensitive to others feelings. They are just tired of pleasing other people that they give up being good and completely defeated.

Remember that in this world good deeds still prevail. World leaders make their way to become better people. They may be battling with their own personal negative traits but in general they are ruling their own government as much as they want to be a better person.
