Kessington Avenue, Philadelphia
Well honestly, I had thought homelessness was only peculiar to developing countries, not until I watched a 30 minute's documentary the city with the largest population of homeless people. Kessington Avenue, Philadelphia is a center for drug and violent crimes
At the beginning of the documentary, huge heaps of trash is seen littered openly on the streets.
A handful youngster could be seen sleeping while standing or leaning on a wall. Some were walking on the highway almost naked, apparently oblivious of the honking of cars . Reminds me of one of those gory scenes in a zombie movie. Prostitution and violent crime is done is broad daylight. Infact a woman could get raped and killed and her body dumped among the trash on the streets.
At one corner, a girl if around 20 years old as if her soul had literally left are body. Her eyes were wide open but one could see that there were no vision in them, even though tears were from both eyes. Crying for life. The drug she just couldn't do without continued to destroy her essence. A closer look at her arms would show you the unpleasant scars of needles, were the days of had escaped in exchange for a fleeting moment of euphoria.
No doubt, some of these fellows had been raised by parents on a strong moral foundation in a good him. So how do they end up like this? What has happened to them that made them fall into drugs.
Well, as I said in a previous article, people fall into drugs due to various reasons and in no time, they get addicted. A major reason could be stress, disappointment from a failed relationship, loss of job or a business deal gone wrong
So, I was not very surprised when I learnt that a good number of these drug abusers could be college graduates or skilled people. People who were eagerly looking forward to a beautiful life before something terrible happened to them. They had left home and come to this place to find solace in drug.
Kessington Avenue is like were you bury the people that are not yet dead.
Drugs related deaths are continually on the rise.Thousands of people had lost their lives due to drug overdose.
Sometimes a drug abuser might not be buying the drug that he/she thinks they are buying. In their needy and weak state, they could easily be manipulated into buying a more dangerous substance by a drug peddler.
This is the part of US they won't show you, most people will think that country is heaven but they still have a couple of ugly sides which they always try to hide from the media. I feel sorry for those people sha, this is the main reason why I always run from drugs, that shit can render you dead while still breathing, you go suddenly become zombie
