Someone asked: why Amaury is willing to push his will on to the entire BCH space?
It seems Amaury is doing it to save BCH from taking too long to fulfill the dream of Bitcoin. I see no reason to assume he has changed his intentions (that he has manifested for years as he seemingly dedicated his life to the dream). He has been clearly communicating for months that funding was insufficient to achieve real progress. I believe he is correct and that we have been failing to do the needed development work quickly enough to fulfill the dream using the current (donations) funding model. I believe there is a window of opportunity to become the world's sufficiently decentralized (un-stoppable) peer-to-peer electronic cash. We had a big head-start, but BCH is not the only crypto looking to fulfill this dream. I hope we have not delayed too long already.
The dream is under attack and many will tell you we are in no hurry and need not move any faster at developing scaling and more consumer-friendly apps. Some even claim we should slow down and upgrade BCH much less often. IMO, Anti-BCH forces are strongly opposed to better funding of BCH development so their social engineering teams of agents I call the "troll army" have fooled much of the BCH community into attacking itself. It turns out many here were ready and willing to hate Amaury for a variety of reasons and found common ground when recruited by the troll army.
"Amaury's will" helped create and has been leading the direction of BCH for three years. The troll army just weaponized the status quo as if it was something new. He is sometimes annoying and I would guess the reports he is difficult to work with are true. Hard to know since reports of his evil, dishonest, lazy, ... intentions are very common and usually unfounded. I can see why he seems to have given up on most efforts to respond to social media attacks on his efforts to make BCH into a real Bitcoin (sufficiently decentralized (un-stoppable) peer-to-peer electronic cash for the world's people).
The protest movement lead by the new node team (BCHN) has great support from the troll army and most of those who post on social media (I call the trolls plus their recruits the "mob" for short). Rare posts by people like me who question the "mob's" often unfounded or outright dishonest assumptions are often voted into obscurity.
BCHN has great support for a re-energized donations funding model during this attack on the reference client team (ABC). Anti-BCH money and volunteers may be flowing in, but good folks have joined the BCHN team and may be able to make their fork of BCH into something great before that energy diminishes again. They claim it is Amaury's fault that donations were not enough in the past. I can not tell how true that is, if at all.
If miners support ABC's funding strategy in November, ABC will try to make development happen using miner donations (it is the money the miners have already earned and the IFP was their idea). The hope is that reliable funding can make BCH better faster. The "Mob" want's to stop the automated and fairly-shared donations from the miners. The mob says they are winning and will control the Bitcoin Cash name in November.
I believe the troll army pushed us to fork BCH as an attack on BCH. It is bad in many ways. Even so, if there is a fork, I hope both sides get enough support to fully test their funding strategies. I think having 2 BCH's that both really seek to fulfill the real dream of Bitcoin could be great for the future. I am concerned BCHN may be infiltrated by anti-BCH forces, but the good folks there may be able to overcome that even if it is true. The very common claims that ABC has bad intentions could be true, but appear to be unfounded and unlikely.
Correction: good folks CREATED the BCHN team. Of course, good folks also joined too!
