Our passion will bring us to an unexpected victory as long as we pursue the things we ought to love.
Cooking is very essential and it is a necessity for every human being. We all know that we should learn how to cook because cooking makes food taste better. For me, cooking is not just about eating it is far more than that. It is an expression of love, because the taste will determine how much love was poured into a certain dish that was being prepared and served in the table.
At this moment, let us have a short story about my dad's journey before he reached this milestone.

A Janitor became a chef
Cooking is one of the things that keeps my father to go on with life, it is his passion. It leads him to the path of greater opportunities and enormous victory. Indeed, his passion and humility brought him to what he is now. however, before he obtained such success, he underwent a lot of failures and challenges. Nevertheless, those failures became his stepping stones to attain greater possibilities.
When I was very young, my dad was struggling to find jobs. He got rejected multiple times because he wasn't able to graduate in high school and the only thing that he was good at was cooking. He was hopeless and was at the end of his tether. But he was a believer and giving up is not in his vocabulary. He applied several part time jobs;
Fish Vendor
Early in the morning, he wanders around selling fresh-caught fishes door to door.
Car washing
Every afternoon he would wait for the big trucks to stop on our street and he would clean it and earn money from it.
He also,
Sells recyclable boxes and a part time barber.
Just so you know guys, he does all of that every single day for more than 3 years huhu while writing this I find myself crying. Fast forward, after 3 years of having unstable jobs, my dad was invited by our neighbor to work as a janitor in a popular restaurant in Davao city, at first he was a little bit hesitant to take the job offer because he will going to stay there and he is only allowed to come home once a week. However, the poverty we've suffered lead him to gamble another sacrifice. My mom was left with no choice but to agree and support my dad's decision. My dad was ambitious he takes every bit of opportunity for us to have a better life.
He became a janitor for 4 years, and there he met a very kind and down to earth head chef named Chef Mario. Chef Mario was pleased by his dedication and hardwork. One day the head chef noticed my dad sitting down the stairs while eating his lunch. The chef took a stop and they have a great conversation back there. He asked my dad several questions and there he know that my dad's dream was to become a chef just like him.
Two days after, Chef Mario Approach him and told him a very wonderful news. My dad was one step closer to his dreams, and chef Mario made it possible for him. Chef Mario told him that he will help him achieve his desire to become a chef and of course he was in extreme shock and was trying to absorb what he have heard, indeed he was so speechless and all he did was crying due to indescribable joy. Since my dad was not able to graduate in high school nor a degree holder, Chef Mario taught him the basics first and on that time he was not a janitor anymore, he got promoted as one of the waiter in the restaurant, few months later the head chef offered him to join cooking seminars for 6 months.
He was the one holding the plate, and his co-waiters congratulated him for being promoted as an assistant chef.
After 6 months, my dad was finally promoted as an assistant and sous chef for more than 10 years. How great isn't it? God's favor was really into him.
My dad was extremely grateful with Chef Mario. For him Chef Mario was a heaven sent. They are still very close until now, they are keeping themselves connected through facebook, and the head chef also took a visit here in our place last January and they had a great reunion.
His journey didn't stop there, he also worked abroad particularly in Riyadh for 4 years at Wooden Bakery as well as in Kuwait for 4 years (I forgot the name of the restaurant).
Now, he currently works at a Seafood restaurant as a head cook and it's my pleasure to show you few of his recipes there. My dad was not that good at garnishing too and bad at photography😂. He sucks at it lol. Just dont mind the emojis in the pictures.
That would be all for tonight, I hope it inspire you a bit, Just keep on believing and living in your dreams because nothing is impossible with God.
