The most unfortunate and distressing fire incident in our baranggay...
This is a true to life story that happened 12 years ago. I was 10 years old when I heard a tragic and saddening news that caused a huge trauma to my classmate/friend's cousin whom was my schoolmate too.
This young girl (my friend's cousin) named Hope was three years younger than me. She is lovely, sweet, and kind. She had three siblings; two young toddlers and a 1st grader. Her mom was expecting another member of the family, in short she was currently pregnant on that time. Hope loves her family more than anything, and everytime she join sports competition specifically in the field of gymnastic. Her family never gone out of support.
The incident...
We we're having a regular class when a boy(student) suddenly entered our classroom wearing a mopey face as if something bad happened. He searched for my friend and asked our teacher's permission to dismissed her because there's a tragic event happening at their residence.
My Friend was desperate to know what was happening and burst into tears. The boy told her that her aunt's family was stucked in their own house that was currently consumed by a huge fire. The fire spread through their house very quickly.
She immediately went to her cousin's classroom to relay the bad news. They head home after knowing it while crying heavily. The next morning, we we're all teared up with the distressing news. Hope's family was wiped out during the fire incident. The only left was her 1st grader little sister who was attending classes in their school at that time. Her pregnant mom, and her two toddler siblings was found burned dead after the incident.
We went to the funeral three days after the incident and expressed our deepest and sincere condolences to her loss. My friend was still crying while reminiscing their memories of her aunt and little cousins. Hope was isolating her self in her room and can't face the sad reality that her beloved family was gone.
Until now, I can still vividly remember that unfortunate event. And what's more heartbreaking is some of their neighbors saw the painful scene wherein the victims were crying out for help waving their hands in the window that is surrounded with grills. They we're trying to help and rescue the victims however the fire spreads very quickly. When the rescuers found their corpse, they saw the mother hugging tightly her two children.
Just by remembering it makes me so sad. My heart can't stand that awful situation. Nevertheless, it was already buried in the past and nothing can change it because the damage has been done. I just hope and pray that Hope and the rest of her relatives can finally find complete acceptance and comfort everytime they remember it.
We should treasure our loved once every moments of our lives, because we don't know what lies ahead. Remember we only live once.
