Without further, delay...

Will be Independent

Well, I particularly have a soft spot for females who strive to be independent. There is a social construct that men should be the one to provide for the family, and while it is something many people do not ascribe to, it is still a common 'culture' of the society. I am usually perplexed when girls who don't have money say they can only be in a relationship with guys who have money. Usually, when girls say that to me, I usually ask them if they have money? And if they say YES, I ask them why they need a man's money. If they answer NO, I ask them why they don't work for their money instead of depending on a man's money. The general question is: isn't that selling yourself to the man?

I had started striving to be independent at quite a young age. This had nothing to do with my gender per se, but on the kind of person I am. If there is something I really do not like doing, it is asking people especially for money. I genuinely usually feel bad when I do so, because I believe me asking them for money is an inconvenience to them financially. That is by the way.

In my society, I have heard guys describe girls as 'leeches' simply because they are materialistic. Sadly, in this case, since the male is the provider of these materials, he has the right to brand the girl he is providing for whatever. I heard a conversation between two people on TV recently about how everything is transactional. Of course, one can use the transactional microscope to view the world and there would be some truth to it. After all, it is a give and take world we live in, you take in oxygen and give out carbondioxide, you give your time and energy, and earn a salary, and so on and so forth. In this particular discussion, they were talking particularly about relationships though. In the example cited above about a relationship between a guy and his materialistic girlfriend whom he provides for, surely there is something she offers him in return for all the materialistic things he provides. Well, this is not the topic for today, so let me not digress.

I personally will not depend on any man for my financial needs if I was a girl, I will strive and work to be independent, work for my own money so I can provide for my own needs. Although, there is generally a notion that ladies who are rich are usually egotistical. I think this narrative is borne of the fact that because independent women don't need men for their money, there are a lot of things they can't tolerate. It is not uncommon to see some girls stuck in an abusive relationship because their partner provides for all their needs. It is sad, but it is true, and common in my society.

Will be Assertive When it Comes to Guys I Like

Hehehe. I had to laugh because this actually a topic I have discussed with many people of the opposite gender, and only less than a handful of girls say their are straightforward when they like a guy. What I mean is that when they really like a guy, they let him know that they like him, irrespective of what the outcome is.

Most girls are not assertive in that regard, especially when they feel the guy doesn't like them as much as they like him. There is a general female consensus that if a girl walks up to a guy to confess how she feels about him, the guy doesn't respect her or take her seriously. Well, I don't know about other guys, but if a girl walks up to me to express herself, my respect for her quadruples, because even though it should be a norm, it takes a lot of courage for a girl to do that. A lot of girls are of the opinion that it should be the guy's job to do the 'chasing/courting' well, I suppose that is another social construct, or maybe it is just natural order of things.

If I was a girl, if I like a guy, I would let him know how I feel about him, that can also serve as a litmus test for me too, as his reaction towards my confession would give me an insight on the kind of person he is, and whether or not he is worth the troubles. LoL.

In conclusion, I am a huge fan of women who know they are above social gender constructs and live their lives to the fullest, and are unapologetic about it too.

Girls can change the way they live their lives by standing up for themselves.

They don't have to be scared of being hurt or bullied because they're different from other girls. They don't have to feel like they need to conform to a certain look or style. They don't have to worry about what other people think about them. Hello!, I'm new here.

I was also the kind of woman who don't depend to my partner ☺️. I'm independent and I do work to provide my needs, specially my want's.

Girls remain limited to boundaries of their home and they live their life in restrictions

Girls get less freedom in the family. Society and family call him reckless when he moves independently like himself. He is afraid to tell him when he is attracted or in love with the opposite sex. Especially girls cannot express their feelings.

That is the sad reality, and it is quite unfortunate.

In my country, it is just normal for any of the gender to walk up to the opposite gender and express their feelings for each other, without fear or doubt. Most times I wish I was the male folk, I would have loved and respect ladies

A women can show her identity only if she is independent. It is a true fact.

That is true, because for as long as she isn't independent, she plays the role she's given not the one she wants to.

I agree to all of this, it's a stigma that men should provide for women however the world is changing, women should be dependent on their own so that men couldn't blame them for all the things given to them. There are lots of opportunities out there for women to grab, they have the choice to become independent or stay dependent to men.

Well said, women have a choice, and they should take the choice. Although, many have no problem being dependent on their partner.

Love this part as this is really true: "It is not uncommon to see some girls stuck in an abusive relationship because their partner provides for all their needs. It is sad, but it is true, and common in my society." This is actually the reason why women has to submit because...

Hmmm... If I were to tell a man that "he TOOK my heart away!" Well, that was true in the past. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK, so there is no need to dwell from there! lolz. Now you remind me of the talk I had with my son about this... I'm gonna write about it. hihihi

Hehe. I guess it is the same in your parts of the world. Women don't HAVE TO submit to any man as long as they can provide for themselves.

I look forward to reading your article on the conversation with your son.
