Death at 30
Chapter 01 She's Sick
It was around 3 in the afternoon. You'll notice Haree is looking out to the window from her hospital bed across the hall. The nurses are going back and fort and most of the time bothers Haree's line of sight.
"How nice it would be to spend time outside with this nice weather."
It has been two days since she got admitted to the hospital. She's just nineteen but she's spending her summer vacation in isolation. She was diagnosed having amenorrhea due to hormonal imbalance. She's practically infertile.
It's obvious that she's not having a healthy lifestyle that's why she's sick. She's angry most of the time and gradually, she can't produce happy hormones anymore.
It's been three years when she didn't have menstrual cycle as her last check up says, she's just a late bloomer. She didn't thought much to it and she even think it's advantageous since she's not buying napkin every month. No hassle.
She'll go home in the morrow. She was just admitted to the hospital due to hyperacidity or stomach and she was dehydrated that she needs drips. She had been going to the toilet non-stop and had been throwing up for 24 hours.
Suddenly, the window pane became so foggy and the rain showers against it.
"I better go to sleep", she thought.
___
Haree closed her eyes. She heard her Mom came out of the bathroom.
"Hareya, I'll be outside to enjoy fresh air."
" Okay Mom. I'll take a nap," she answered not opening her eyes.
___
Haree can't sleep. She can't let go of the truth that she's infertile. How she wish her Mom insisted to get second opinion three years ago. Now that her amenorrhea left untreated for years, she's wondering if she still can do something about it. The doctor did mentioned about the prescription of hormonal medicine. There's no guarantee it will work though.
" If only I did foresee that this will be the situation, I should have gotten pregnant when I was in high school; guilt-free. I'm not Christian yet, I do know it's since but I didn't know Christ that time."
What a joke she's been thinking. She now believes that everything that happens have their own purpose. God is sovereign and everything's under control. She needs to embrace her flaw. Many people got married without children too and some resorts to adoption, why can't she?
She's just 19, so many things is bound to happen before marrying age. There might be a sudden favorable changes; all she needs is to hold on to her Jesus who saved her. He saved her from eternal damnation and give her joy with such hope; why not trust Him with just her earthly body that would perish sooner that she thinks? Hmm
___
"Hareya, are you still sleepy?" Her mom interrupted her train of thoughts.
"No Mom. I didn't sleep. I was thinking."
" Refrain from overthinking for now. Think of good things."
She brushed off Haree's bangs that blinds her. She keep wearing bangs due to excessive consciousness of her forehead. She's always teased that she won't have any problem owning an airplane since she has an airport with her.
"Can you sit up now? Let's have early dinner," her Mom added setting up her bed table.
"What do have for dinner Mom? I forgot to tell you I'm craving for spicy chicken."
" Hahaha," her Mom laughed. " Who would think you'll still crave for spicy food when your intestine is struggling?"
" I know. I should eat spicy foods moderately," Haree repented.
" Let's eat. It's fried chicken and it's not spicy, " her Mom said and she started munching.
___
Haree had her dinner that day with renewed strength to face the morrow.
