Don't judge a book by its cover

The term Don't judge a book by its cover is an idiom that means we shouldn't be too quick to judge people or something.

Below are some of the reasons I believe we shouldn't go straight into judgment or decision about something without knowing some facts.

She was belittled by her appearance

Two weeks ago when we went on outreach to a Secondary school. The speaker asked a question based on what he had explained to them. Out of over 200 students, only a little girl who was in JSS 1 raised her hand. The other students burst into laughter, "saying how can she know it when we don't know it"

To everyone's surprise, the girl came outside and answered the question correctly. The whole crowd was amazed, and they gave her a round of applause. Who could have thought that a question the SS3 students couldn't answer would be answered by a JSS 1 student. Don't judge a book by its cover

She judged a book by its cover

I remembered watching a Bollywood series on ZEE WORLD, the title of the series was king of hearts. There was this particular scene when Mahi came to the living room and saw Satya( Siddharth her husband) reading a magazine. On the front cover of the magazine were pictures of half-naked women. The wife was upset, she shouted at him and began to cry, that why will he be looking at naked pictures, isn't it satisfied? Meanwhile in the Magazine were pictures of baby bikes, he was looking for a better one to order for their newborn baby. When he explained to the wife, she pleaded. What was learned here is that we shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

She lost a job opportunity by judging someone by his appearance

Also the story of a lady who had been seeking for job foe years. She has written a lot of application letters to companies but wasn't offered any job. Finally, she got approval, and she was told to come for an interview. On the day of the interview, as she wanted to board a cab to go to the office, a man asked for the direction of a place, she shouted at the man and said "are you mad, why would you be asking me such a question? I am going for an interview and I don't want to be late". The people around them told her what she did was wrong, that she could have directed the man. Instead of her admitting that she abused all of them too.

She got to the office before the time of the appointment. The Receptionist told her to wait for a while, that the Manager is on his way. After some minutes, the manager came and walked in. Behold the man she abused and refused to show direction was the manager of the company. Immediately she saw him, she knew she had lost the job. That was how she lost the job by judging the worth of the man by his outward appearance alone.
