What determines which articles go under the 'top' category of main page? My article had a lot more views than the ones I saw on the list....

It is random. Not unless you boosted your article then there's a high chance of it showing it to the other user's homepage.

Well, i think it is random. I've read something about boosting somewhere. If many have boosted their article. The highest bid will be the one on the main page.
